Assuming that you're a manga/anime person, tell me what are you top five-ten animes. Who are your favorite characters from those animes/mangas? Do you remember how you first discovered your favorites? What is it about them that separates them from other Anime/manga that you've seen?

One anime that is definately a favorite of mine, and will always be a favorite of mine is Revolutionary Girl Utena. It was done by BePapas (They did Sailor Moon, right?) and at some points has a very Sailor Moony feel to it--only it's matured by about 10 years. In fact, as you go through the anime, much like Harry Potter, it progressively grows older and more mature. My favorite saga was the Apocolypse Saga, when all of the behind-the-scene secrets are revealed. It's the kind of Anime that each time you watch it, you understand something else about the plot that you never had pictured before.
There have been essays written on the understanding of this Anime.

If I were a high school English teacher, I'd make my kids watch the entire thing and then write a paper on it myself. The movie, Adolescence Rush even makes references to literature (The Lord of the Flies).
I've never decided which to tell people to see first, the movie or the anime. All three, manga, anime, and movie, are all distinctly different, but they all have some ties that are similar. And, it's strange what ties have been retained and which ties have been changed. Uhoh. I'm rambling again. In the end, if you end up seeing the movie, I advise that you watch it as IF it is an entirely separate movie. You'll be tempted to draw conclusions between the two medias, but don't. You'll only confuse yourself. @.@ They're that similar...and different.

Yu Yu Hakusho is my number one favorite anime. I know just about everything about it. Hiei is my favorite character. <33s
Other animes that I am into are Wolf's Rain, Gravitation, Yumeria, Inuyasha, Elfen Lied, FLCL and others.
My favorite manga is Red River, I have 1-21. I need to get the other ones but I haven't got the money for it crying .
others would be Gravitation, FAKE, Gothic Sports, Chibi Vampire, and a few others.

Red River! I actually read that one! I think it's weird that they put "Parental advisory" on so many of them though. You think that they would finally get to be together and then it's all "Sorry. Princey-boy has to run over here now." Eesh. I wish I owned it though. I haven't read it in a while and it belonged to a friend of mine and she moved out of state. I never got to finish it.

I like alot of the mangas and animes...
Anime: Inuyasha, Naruto, Bleach, Deathnote.
Manga: Inubaka, Pichi Pichi Pitch, Tokyo Mew Mew, Fruits Basket.
Ya ya I know, most of them are widely known, but I think they are good animes and mangas.

Who are your favorite characters from those animes? I've seen DN and Inu Yasha and just a little bit of Naruto, but not Bleach. (: MewLettuceRush I like alot of the mangas and animes... i love a ton of anime. anime is like my topic even manga and seriously mention anime or manga and i could totally go on about it XD lol ya anyways i read most of the anime i like. im not a total encyclopedia (did i spell that right?) so i dont kno much XD but anyays currently my fave manga has got to be one piece. i really love it its hilarious and really awesome. the characters i think are so uniquely made. and it can be weird sometimes XD i mean the guy who created is just so creative i love it. his characters rock and i love the story. ya so my number one fave manga right now is one piece i read other manga but one piece is my fave so far
