Well, here's something interesting I've found out a few weeks ago....

So are you a process based writer a product based writer or both? How come?

I'll put down the meanings just in case. They're right below... I'm stating the obvious again.

A product-based writer is someone who likes to just write the essay and go straight through it without revising it several times or even once.

A process based writer is just someone who writes an essay and revises it and proof reads it so many times.

Sorry if this has nothing to do with the guild, I was just curious.

So are you a product based writer or a process based writer?

I'm a product based writer. I pretty much just free write things and barely look them over.

Hm ..
-head tilts-
I think I'd be product based then
Cause I come up with something and run with it
The only story I've started but re-written to make bigger and longer was Living Dead Girl .. (in class we were asked to write a short mystery. Haha, short for them was 3 pages but I couldn't make it that short ... xD;;;. ) It started out as like 6 pages and I spread it out to 26 pages before I gave up .. formatting to standard trade sized pages doubled the page length
To some extent I did Betrayal of Trust as well, since it had too many words to be published as a short book, but not enough pages to be published as a full novel .. tch what a mess that was. I managed to fix it without cutting out much of the plot I'd gone through ..

Considering that I pretty much trashed my canon to re-write the whole thing, I would say I am a process-based writer.

Product based...I think.

I never look back at my work until I'm finished but if it's an essay I won't look at it, but I will with my story.

The story sounds interesting, though. You should post it on here when you get the chance... Although, it would probably suck to type down 26 pages worth of work.

Both.

For essays, it all depends on what I'm writing about; how long it took me to write it, if I like the topic I'm writing about, and so on. I revise as I go, usually by the sentence. For example, I write one sentence, stop, check to see if spelling, information, and grammar are correct before I continue. When I get to the end I scan it quickly before turning it in. I find it much more easy and less time consuming if I do it that way.

For writing stories, I generally just write without revising because I lose my muse if I correct stuff. I go back to revise on days I can't seem to write anything. I sometimes go back and revise when I get back to the end of a chapter but I have to be extremely motivated to do so.

I am definately a process-based writer. Anything I write, I usually re-write at least once... essays average 3 times, whether I like the topic or not, more if I really like it and just can't seem to get my words on paper... my stories... well, I have a running count of how many times I re-write/scrap the crap and do total overhaul.

Yeah... I'm a bit of a perfectionist...

When it comes to fiction, I'm most definitely a product-based writer. I love getting ideas and just running with them, because to me there's nothing better than that feeling of total freedom to do anything you want with the story you've got in your hands.

With normal essays I'm the same as well. I'll reread once, sometimes to check for spelling, but usually won't rewrite at all. The only time I ever rewrite or edit is when the piece is really important, and then I'll maybe go over it once or twice. I can't go over anything any more than that though, or else all the magic is gone, and anything that sounded great first time round just sounds plain awful. X3

I write supernatural fiction, romance fiction, general fiction and anime based stories. I'm currently working on two stories, one is called "Behind Closed Doors; The aftermath" and the other story is called "The Ending" ^_^

That's pretty great. You have a wide selection so it won't get boring. I don't know how I could work on two stories at once. I used to but now I would get too confused.

It doesn't get super confusing if they are radically different. I have a sci-fantasy and a mythical fantasy in the works at the moment. The stories are radically different and even the POV's are different (3rd limited to MC and 1st).

I can't do that..
heh I have to write ones that are similar
Like with my twins series, I was able to write one about the girl and one about the boy. They were in the same medieval era world, but different countries so there were different characters most of the time .. I could keep them straight that way
