My oldest Cat Sammy once did, for a week, then when we were talking about him on the 7th day, and we were all talking about how much we were missing him, and he just came straight in and walked around like nothing even happened lol. He was very hungry and alittle stressed/angry, but he was ok.

That was probably one of the scariest weeks ive ever had, i thought it was strange that he went missing, since he doesnt really stray too far from home and has never been missing before, but after he came back, my neighbour came and asked us about the cat, and we didnt even tell her he was missing! she said that some black and white cats sometimes get stuck in her cupboard!? i dont know how, but thats what she said, and all my cats are black. So she may have something to do with it, im just glad he doesnt go missing anymore lolz. xD

Have your pet/s ever gone missing, want to tell the story?

When I was in school, my parents were moving from South Dakota to South Carolina. One night when they were in a motel, my cat, Rachel, escaped out the door. They were in a strange city and did not know anyone. They looked for her and called vets' offices and shelters, but we never found her.

I hope she was found by somebody who took care of her. She was a beautiful, petite, long hair calico.

Once each of my cat and dog.
My Cat Yoshi who always comes back every couple of hours at least after he goes out, simply didn't come home one night. I was up in the early hours looking for him, Eventually he turned up later that day so I suspect maybe he got stuck somewhere or locked in somwhere by accident.

And then my dog Sammy. I don't have a back garden I only have a large front garden. I simply open the front door and let her do her stuff. Sammy never runs away and normally knows the boundary that is the exit to the street. But every so often she has this need to eat grass and she likes only certain stuff.
Well I go to shut the front door and call her but she didn't come. I wasn't worried as there was a little hidden part, but then ten minutes later I called again and nothing. Checked the front garden and couldn't find her. So I thought OK, she likes the grass in the little wild patch where this little path leads around behind some houses opposite where I live, and where I walk her.
So I go to check there and call her. (This has happened a couple of times but again she doesn't run away, she just gets the urge to eat grass more severly and wanders this little extra distance. (I live at the end of a cul-de-sac so there isn't really any traffic at all except the neibours))
This time though was different. I called her, nothing. I walked the area, nothing. Now I'm starting to worry as this is definately not normal behaviour.

Well to shorten the damn thing. I looked all over, checking my sister and brother's places who also live in the same cul-de-sac, then back to the area behind the houses. Next I know she's come running back. Turns out she was there all the time just hidden by the undergrowth. rolleyes

It scared the heck out of me at teh time. I was worried she might have even been dognapped.

But yeah, the first thing I would have thought is dognapping, but thank goodness that your dog came back 3nodding

Whe I was really little, my brother let my indoor cat outside. It ran away and we never found out where it went.

I had a cocker spaniel that was sort of an explorer of sorts. She would just start sniffing one way....or chase after something....and she would take off. One day she was in my backyard playing and she had dug a hole under our back fence leading to our neighbor's land that lived behind us. Their driveway lead to the main highway. This neighbor didn't actually live in our neighborhood. They had land behind our house where they raised emus.

Well, my cocker ran under the fence we had and into their property. She followed the property all the way down their driveway. She wound up on the main highway. When I noticed Scruffy wasn't in the yard anymore, I ran to get my mom. We had looked everywhere for her. Finally, my mom and brother got in the car and went to look other places. They had found her on the side of the highway scared, shaking to death. Even though she wasn't gone for days, it was still heart breaking for me to not know where my dog was.

xRiver Of Bloody Tearsx @ Yeah, with cats, if you have an indoor cat, keep the cat indoors, otherwise it will run away. But if you have an outdoor cat, its better to keep it outdoor, and let the cat come in when he/she feels like it xD

NoLaPuppyLove @ Thats very sad, But I'm glad your pet was found. Yea, its like once my hamster Zippy went missing around the house, I was holding her, and then I put her on the floor for a second, and then she was gone. But I found her behind the units in my old house, she was only gone for about an hour or so. But it scared me to not know where she was. I'm never gonna make that mistake again lolz xp

My cat Squeeky went missing one time. My little neice accidentally let her out of the house and she was gone for about 2 weeks. We put up posters and sent out a description to the local shelters with no luck. It was scary because we were in the process of moving at the time and thought that we were going to have to leave her behind.

But the strangest thing was that on the night before we moved I had a dream that I was sitting on the front stairs to our house and she came up to me and sat in my lap. And later that day it actually happened! I was happy and creeped out at the same time!

*Edit* One time my other cat Buster got loose in a hotel during a cross-country road trip. We eventually found him in an open janitor's closet. I completely forgot about that till right now. blaugh

Thats very strange, but its cool that you had that dream! I think its like a sixth sense, or just knowing 'sensing' something. because you get to love your pets more and more, and if anything bad ever hapens to them, you still feel attached to them. well thats what I think anyways lolz. Thats awesome! 3nodding
