I'm going to Metrocon this summer, and Abney park is playing. Last year I went through an extreme pirate fetish, So some of it is from last year. Well, This is what I pulled from my drawers today. I will be getting goggles and I'll be searching thrift stores for the next six months. I will also be getting some gears :3 +I know it's kinda... Erm... weird... +Right now it's 12:45 in the morning and my parents are asleep and I am extremely tired (We cried as we watched my brother/their son leave to go back to the Army base knowing this would be the last time we saw him before he would go to Afghanistan.... -But my mom does have a black skirt that would fall to my ankles or past I could wear instead of Capri pants. And then these shoes, They are different, The first one is a bad picture- but it doesn't have a break between the ball and heal of the foot.

The top and vest are great. If you have old necklaces you can take chains from, spray paint them brass and gold and drape them from the buttons to the side of the vest. Get a pocket watch or a pocket watch necklace. Must have. Urban outiftters sells a couple necklaces. Pocket watches you can get a lot of places pretty cheaply. If you have a long brown or black skirt that you can give some ruching that would be perfect as well. Make some spats to go over the clogs. The red has to go. D:
I'm EXTREMELY jealous btw.

Thank you both so much for replying. The Red gloves will be taken off- They were to give a pop. I have a long puffy brown skirt (I used as a villager in my school's production of Beauty and the Beast) and a regular long velvet one. I will get pictures as soon as possible. I have some old jewelry from my great grandma- I'm thinking of wearing the durable things. But the question is are they to dainty and small? (can't really see the numbers, my phone wouldn't focus) (Thinking of hooking it up to something) (Hard to see, I know. It was brighter on my phone)

Of the Jewelry, which looks the best for my outfit-
And I'm not sure if I could get to sears- The mall is like a 1/2 away and I'm in Florida, meaning they MIGHT not be there- But I have an idea of how to make them :3

I would try the black skirt or the brown one rather than capri pants. Try to find a couple more old looking belts to wear around your waist outside your clothing, and maybe a pair of old leather boots instead of clogs. You can find them really cheap at thrift stores.
Oh, deffinitly wear your grandmother's jewlery! It is amazing. You should accent it with some strips of leather tied as wrist and neck jewlery as well if you can, for that steampunk feel.

Yea, I've been looking at belts and things. I found the black skirt- However its velvet and it seems too sleek. I'm still looking for my brown skirt, however my mother said a long brown skirt mixed with the black vest wouldn't match. As for boots- Going to be a little hard. most shoes I see in thrift are like size 5-8. I wear 9-10's.

D: friggin impossible to find shoes that fit. The jewelry you posted is gorgeous and verry steamy. You can layer it with other pieces to give it more bulk and less dainty feeling. Black and brown mix very well in my opinion. Black will go with just about anything, and when it comes to steampunk, I don't see it as being a faux-pas to have a brown skirt and a black vest. Also if you want to make the black skirt less sleek, you can put some ties on the inside so you can wear it up in a bustle like skirt or down. You just put two ties maybe like a foot to foot and a half (depending on the length) away from each other at various points in the skirt, so when you tie them together you get a bubble while the rest hangs down under it. It looks really cute and steamy.

With the jewelry- Does anyone have an solution to a temporary clip that wouldn't hurt the jewelry and is cheap? *sigh* I also have fat wrists- and just in general my great grandmother had small wrists << I need something that could lengthen the bracelet a little more. *I was putting my memory card in my cell phone and it popped out and fell, now I'm trying to find it. Once I do I will update pictures.

Once I do I will update pictures. craft stores tend to have leather on the isles with the feathers and sequins pick up some and a needle and thread maybe a punch for some holes... stitch the jewelry onto the leather lightly and lace it onto yourself... done right you can always cut the stitches so there's no damage to the jewelry and suddenly you have a tie in for any other leather accessories

If you have an old shirt with loose sleeves you can cut from them you can make a pair pretty easily and quickly from that-- more like boot covers than spats, but that isn't much of a difference. 3nodding

All the interesting stuff happens everywhere else. D: I live in Philadelphia. One of the oldest, most historical cities in the US. You'd think there would be tons of stuff going on. NOPE We're lucky if we get a a small anime convention to pop up. D: Though, there is Fairy con, which is great, and Dracula's Ball, but no steam goodness.

I think I'll look around for like a thin piece of string or so. <<...... *waits*.... *waits* ... 3am! to go find a shirt to destroy! Eh. I would DIE for a pair of boots. Maybe I could get someone in my family to buy a pair! I'll start looking for old shirts later. We have a few cons in Florida, one in Orlando, One in Ft. Myers, One in Tampa... None in my home town.. But I'm in Tampa every other week despite the drive. The Tampa convention is the only one I go to.
