If Misa never showed up?
In away I do believe so, but in another no. The only other reason why I say no is, because she had the Shinigami Eyes. An I say yes, because he was actually doing quite well before she showed up, and messed alot of things up. I also wished she never would of regained her memories, and awakened Raito's.

Everyone should have seen all of DN by now but....alas, if you haven't, spoilers are in parenthesis and white:
"Getting away with it" is vague but more than anything, I believe the ending was the result of Mikami. *sigh* And I loved him so before hand. Misa did help Light on many accounts, and although she was an idiot, remember, (It was because of Rem's love for her that L died) further enhancing Light's position and allowing him to control the world for years until Near shows up >=/ Also, remember that she was the one to reveal that (Higuchi had a Deathnote) However, by Teru breaking his routine (Near was able to realize that the Deathnote was not the original, ruining Light's plan.) AHHH my anger >.<
But yes, Misa did ruin a few things, but her being Light's little puppet helped in the end =)

We all know what happened but these DO contain spoilers:
yeah, i agree with Aya. it IS mikami's fault, BUT its not like mikami ratted Light out. Near and Mello were just too smart for Light and he finally met his end. ('bout time, too!)
remember, near said, "together, we can stand with L. Together we can surpass L" (and im such a freak that i actually memorized that quote XP)

2sangoandmiroku19 yeah, i agree with Aya. it IS mikami's fault, BUT its not like mikami ratted Light out. Near and Mello were just too smart for Light and he finally met his end. ('bout time, too!)
remember, near said, "together, we can stand with L. Together we can surpass L" (and im such a freak that i actually memorized that quote XP) Actually Near and Mello were not "too smart" for Light. They got lucky. Mikami made a mistake that had nothing to do with the sheer brilliance of Mello/Near. Together they did not surpass L. L would have discovered the truth had he not gotten unlucky with Rem. Near would have died had Mikami not screwed up.
