Motoko stood regally upon a boulder in the middle of a great field. The grass stretched out for seemingly forever, until the trees could just be seen in the distance surrounding the clearing. The tall heather bent and swayed in the wind, making it seem almost like the ocean itself, changing from shades of white to blinding shades of gold with each new puff of wind. The sun shone down upon the valley with a harsh edge, but it was softened slightly by the great clouds that were drifting over head. A moment of darkness, a moment of light, and then plunged into darkness once more.

This was symphony of colors, sights, and sounds that filled Motoko's head. She was furious, upset, broken hearted, and most of all, alone. Her friend and companion, her poor little Sari... the bird of stone that had accompanied her throughout her life, filled with a piece of Motoko's own heart, was gone. Destroyed by and inexplicable evil, torn away from Motoko with a last dying shriek. How could the world possibly stand to continue being beautiful, while Motoko had to whither away inside her own empty soul. A growl came up in her throat, and she threw back her head and let out a mighty roar, as a single tear rolled down her cheek. How could the world still hold color, when all of the color had drained from Motoko's eyes...?

User Image Everything was quiet for a moment. Lifeless eyes watched the slow death of a rabbit. Why had she picked a rabbit of all things. Something so small and weak. Watching the blood start to pool the lifeless eyes seemed to flicker for a moment with something but it was last as quick as it came. The rabbit couldn't move because it was pinned under a claw. Soon it started moving and shorty after it stopped breathing as well. Lifting her faded paw she sniffs the rabbit before picking it up and eating it. The only sound was the soft tingle of her bell.

The sound of the bell seemed normal for her ears. It sounded like any other sound in the forest. Just another background sound in a world where she was not welcome. Starting forward slowly she lets her legs carry her like they always did.

A sound. Something other then the soft background sounds made her turn. A roar of some animal? Or maybe A dragonfly? Something dieing even? Without thinking she started towards the sound.

Motoko looked down at the pouch on the ground in front of her with confusion riddled in the lines of her face. It was filled with shards of obsidian stones, the pieces of her poor Sari. For the most part, a pouch of stones is not very odd, but to Motoko this pouch of stones was the equivalent of a mother keeping the body of her dead pup in a sack and toting it around. It was unnatural, almost disgusting, the sacrilege of a dead body in fact.

Motoko wanted to throw it away, to let the earth reclaim what had been so roughly ripped from its surface, but Motoko could not bring herself to do it. Within her heart, she still held the hope that maybe, maybe someday, she would be able to resurrect her poor friend. But these feat would be impossible, for that part of Motoko's soul could never be regained, it was gone, and could not be called back. She stood poised a top her great boulder, her shoulders haunched, tail drooping, but within her eyes there was a spark, a small flame, it wanted badly to reignite her soul which had once been a great blazing inferno but was now reduced to cinders. It was time for Motoko to continue living, but for as long as that pouch of stones lay at her feet, she would be nothing more than a shadow of her former self.

Tingle. The sound normaly didn't mean anything to her. Normaly it was just background noice. Tingle. Could the sound really be starting to bring her back. She almost growled at the thought. The metal cuff around her back leg suddenly started to feel to tight. She stopped for a moment and peered at her back leg. Nothing, the cuff was still sitting there loosely.

But now she was thinking. Thinking back to her time she had spent amoung the humans. A growl did come from her lips this time. The thought of the humans made her sick and angery. Her claws dug into the ground as her eyes flashed for a moment. But then she let her head fall for a moment at the thought of the only nice human. The young girl that had given her the bell. She shook her head for a moment and growled again. The men had taken the girl away. How could they take her only friend away.

Pain, so much pain laced through Motoko's heart, but her eyes did not register it. It had been a simple mere months ago when she was growling at a young elder-to-be to act more mature; it had been mere months ago that she had been happy and carefree, with Sari resting on her shoulder. With Sari, everything was alright.... now that she was gone, nothing was right. Motoko sighed and created a full size, life like rabbit out of the ground beneath her claws. She made it hope and sprint about, and watched it twirl and bounce.

A cruel smile spread on her face as she created a wolf of stone; and then the puppet show began. Motoko feigned the rabbit's terror and instructed the wolf to charge the poor cowering creature. The rabbit let out a high pitched squeal as the wolf bore down on it and dispatched it with a single blow. Of course there was no blood, but a shower of dirt ensued as the rabbit was blown to pieces on impact. The wolf howled triumphantly and then padded over to Motoko and stared at her waiting for her next command. Motoko stared down at the creature, and thought for a while.

Soul moved forward now following the sound of something in a field near by. She was not even thinking about it as her mind was still on the humans that had taken her only friend. She could still see that soft smile of the girl, that laugh that she would use. The taste of blood filled her mouth, but it was not the taste of the rabbit but the old taste of the humans. When she had killed a few in anger and rage.

She stopped at the edge of the trees to look out over the field. Something was in the middle of it. Her eyes were not really focused on what it was. The smell of dirt reached her nose and she half growled. It smelt like the cell that had kept her in until they wanted her.

Motoko's wolf swirled around and began to growl in the direction of the distant trees, just at the same time Motoko had done the same. Something was disturbing her peace, her mourning. Motoko snarled, and her wolf let out a gravelly howl, summoning its brother out of the very earth itself. A small pack of 5 stone wolves now arranged themselves in front of Motoko in a defensive pattern. She squinted her eyes and then told them to hush. The swiveled their ears back in acceptance to Motoko's order and fell back, ranging themselves behind Motoko, their grassy hackles still raised. Confusion entered Motoko's mind and clouded her vision, who was this new presence, what was it...? She guessed she would just have to wait and find out, because it seemed to be coming in her direction.

Her eyes didn't show any emotion as she looked out into the field. The cuff on her back leg started to feel tight again but she didn't turn to look this time. Her gray eyes were on what was in the field, be them focused or not. She stepped forward not really caring what it was she was moving towards. Her mind was not in the right place and never really had been. She was more looking at the wolves more then the thing on the rock. The smell was driving her mad and she wanted to get rid of it.

Motoko howled and held her wolves back, who was this?! Advancing with no fear, no hesitation, like a zombie, like some one... with no soul? Motoko shook her head and cried out in anger, "TURN BACK! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!" It annoyed Motoko, it angered her, that this female could possibly continue walking forward. This was Sari's resting place, the place that Motoko had visited so many times with her little bird. It was her territory, her sacred temple, and yet this stranger tread upon it's soil with no inhibitions what so ever.

Someone was speaking. No not speaking, yelling. Yelling at who? Her eyes tried to focus on the thing on the rock. An elder? She shook her head once and her eyes went back to the wolves. The smell of earth that had always hunted her. Maybe she had growled at what ever it was yelling or maybe she just growled in her head. She wasn't sure any more. The smell and the yelling seemed to drive her farther away from herself. But her legs kept carrying her closer without her knowing. Her eyes were still void of anything as she looked on.

Then she let something slip from her mouth. She was sure that she had done it. The words that were yelled at her made sense for a moment. "Who are you to tell me where I can go!"

Motoko sneered and leaped down from her boulder before snarling and pointing her horns, tips forward, at Soul. She looked at Soul through her eyelashes and growled with hatred, "Who are you to question me? This is my territory, and its my rules..." Motoko then chuckled horridly, with so much venom it almost stung her own throat. She took one step forward and as she took a step, so did her wolves, all in sync. "You don't seem to like my little friends over here... If you've got a bone to pick with them, you've got a bone to pick with me; since we are essentially one entity." She took another step forward and roared, "So?! Are you gonna turn and run, with your tail between your legs, like a good little trespasser? Or do I have to rough you up a bit?" And with that Motoko subtly bit her own tongue and let some of her blood stain her perfectly white teeth, so that when she snarled, the effect was even more terrifying.

"Rough me up." She repeated the words that the other being said. Her gray eyes flicked back to the large thing and watched it. She could smell blood now, just a little of it. "I would never run from something so low as the ground." She flicked her tail for a moment and the shifting of her body made her bell tingle. "The ground should stay were it belongs and never raise up." She growled and narrowed her eyes.

Motoko snarled and extened her claws so that they gripped the ground with fury as Soul's bell rang. It was such a horrid sound! So cheerful when Motoko herself felt anything but such. She wanted to rip that bell right off Soul's neck, she wanted to feel it crunch satisfyingly in her powerful jaws. "The earth brings forth life. Even in the most desolate of times, while all the other elements are there to destroy, earth is there to create in the midst of all the chaos. It is an element that commands respect, and if you insult my element, you insult me, and insulting me is that last thing you'll ever do..." Motoko flicked her tail ever so slightly, and her wolves began to move forward, creating a half circle around Soul, spreading out evenly on either side of their master. "You will regret the day you ever crossed me..." and with that, Motoko raised her head and howled a blood chilling, bone curling howl, which was picked up by the rest of her pack.

Soul laughed and growled at the same time. "Pitiful earth doesn't know it's place. Let me help you to return to the thing you love most." Her eyes moved and looked at each of the wolves that had made a half circle around her. She stepped forward making her bell sound off again. The sound of the bell seemed to sound like it was closer and louder even though she had only moved a little. "I will never regret some lowly ground being, but will regret that I can not remove the smell of you from my fur." She flicked her tail in anger and dug her claws into the ground under her. "I will let you make the first move before I remove you from this realm.

Motoko smirked and stared at the chain on Soul's leg, "How pitiful you must be, to have been captured by humans. Did the itty bitty little humans hurt you...? Did they make you suffer, make you cry?" Her minions fell back as Motoko began to circle Soul, "That little bell around your neck, you got that during your time with the humans didn't you? I can still smell them upon your skin. You are full of regret, full of anger, full of sadness. You let your past hold you down, you let it make you bitter." She smirked and circled back in front of Soul, before continuing, throwing jibes at Soul, trying to rile her up. Motoko could already see Soul prickling and getting angry, she wondered how far she could push her...
