Maion sat at the opening to his home deep within the Mountains, the Sun was setting softly in a blaze of reds, yellows and purples that licked the horizon gently, it was torturing him. It had been two whole weeks since he had last lay eyes on his Moon. Although he had attempted to search for her his efforts remained fruitless. Sighing softly he looked at the sky, perhaps tonight would be no different, yet something within him stirred like a dormant beast awakening from a long slumber. He would not give up. Standing proudly to his feet he watched as the waves splashed the cliffs below, they where relentless, never changing their way of attack. Closing his eyes as the last of the light licked the horizon before it disappeared to introduce the night he made a secret wish, he hoped that tonight of all nights he would find her once more.

Spreading his strong wings to their full length he flapped them several times before jumping of the cliff. For a moment he continued to fall towards the ground until with another beat of his mighty wings he took to the air once more, as he did so he swore he saw a blue and silver figure sulking in the shadows near the base of the mountains, yet it was not who he was looking for this night. Turning his attention swiftly back to his heading he continued to fly using only his memories as a guide.

After what seemed like hours he reached a quiet lake, the silvery liquid reflecting the gently changing ambiance of the sky as it turned into the thick darkness of night. It looked familiar, but so had all the other locations he had tried, if only he had spent more attention to the surroundings as well as her this would not be such an issue, yet he knew that even that thought was ridiculous. Either way she was too captivating to ignore for even a second. He wondered if she would answer to the name he had given her due to a lack of knowing what to call her, it was a long chance, but any chance was worth attempting. Inhaling a deep breath he allowed his lungs to fill with as much fresh air as they could hold before releasing it with a mighty call "MOON." Taking a step forward he called it again, and again. Perhaps she was not here either? "Are you here Moon? It’s Maion."

Thoughts wandered in an out of his mind with each step, it was possible she was simply a figment of his imagination, perhaps it was impossible for such an enchanting creature to even exist? Or maybe she simply wanted to forget him? Uncertainty filled him as he continued to survey the area; although he could sense life around him he had no way of distinguishing if it was her or someone else. If she were not here, he would continue searching, night after long night until they could be reunited again.

User Image The sun had set, the night was forth coming but traces of light still lit the sky. She had been out visiting her parents for the day, with the night coming, it was time for her to return home. As she made her way through the thick forest that surrounded her, her mind wandered. It had been weeks since she had seen the stranger, Maion he had called himself...and she...she was his moon. Her mind was filled with images of his coat, specked with the light of the galaxy. His mane and tail that flowed so gracefully, being twirled around by the night time breeze that had blown across them as they shared a dance in the moonlight. She had thought of him every night since then, wondering if he had been truthful, would she ever see him again?

Since that night, she slept, but she hardly rested. She would doze in and out waiting for the sound of his wings..his voice...his song. She shook her head as she continued to walk along, what was wrong with her? He was a stranger to her still, why was she longing to see him so badly? If she had believed in such, she would have sworn that he had cast a spell on her. Sengdroma still regretted not breaking her silence, she should have spoken...told him her name. She wondered if, like the others, he had decided that she was too odd to return to because she did not speak. Foolish girl.

Her lake was not far now, a few more bends in the path and she would be there. It was time to take up her post and wait for her gentle giant to return...she hoped that tonight would be different than every night since his departure.

She heard a sound in the distance, a calling. "Moon" she heard. She stopped, her ears pivoted and her heart raced, could it be? "It's Maion" she heard soon afterwards, her heart dropped and butterflies filled her stomach. Had he returned to find her?

Before she thought about it, her hooves were digging into the earth below, pounding out the path towards her lake, the trees seemed to be going by in slow motion, was she even moving? "Maion, I'm coming! she called out in her mind, too bad he couldn't hear her. She had to get there before he left, what if she didn't make it in time. Her hooves dug into the soil even further, her legs carrying her as quickly as they could.

A sadness that had visited him every night since their first fateful meeting rang through his heart, perhaps tonight was simply not meant to be the night. Yet there were still a few hours for him to continue his search. Hope flickered through his mind, it was possible that this was the right place but it had simply been coincidence that she had resided in the lake, and perhaps she lived nearby. Excitement filled the air and he found himself wagging his tail happily as he started his nightly walk towards the tree line. Trees seemed to be a common place for a large menagerie of creatures to make their home. Each step struck the ground in a soft rhythmic fashion and before he could control himself he found that he was humming the same tune from their dance.

Their dance, how that still played over and over like a distant dream, her smell still lingered around him as he allowed himself to be consumed by the concept of meeting such an elegant creature once more. He hoped that tonight was the night.

The trees where now in touching distance, stopping for a moment he looked through them attempting to sense movement through the deep darkness but it was impossibly to see through the thick collection of trunks that lined up like a disorganised army preparing to march to war. Head held high, and a hope in his heart he entered the forest, humming his song softly with each step as determination played in every cell in his body.

Her small hooves sent out a thunderous sound that echoed through the forest, almost there. The sunlight fell out of the sky with ever step, it grew darker the closer she got to the lake. Her mane and tail whipped in all directions behind her as she ran, she paid no attention the the leaves and small branches getting caught in them as she run by and under plant life trying to reach Maion before he left.

"He came back...he came back!" her mind raced as quickly as her body did. Her ears flickered, was it him? She swore she could hear the tune he hummed the night of their dance.

Unfortunately, she wasn't paying attention, at least not to the sights in front of her, she was intent on making her way to the lake. Maion's body blended in to the darkness as she ran, she spotted him to late. Her eyes widened and her face cringed, her muscles tightened and her legs stiffened as she tried with all of her might to stop before barrelling over him. It wasn't enough, her body collided with his and her small frame took a spill to the earth below her. "What have I done..." she thought to herself as the stars from the fall left her eye sight. How embarassing.

Determination set in his mind he continued humming his song as he walked through the trees, he wondered if she would be able to tell him any stories of this place, perhaps it held some story of significance, but then he remembered that she had not spoken on their first encounter, it didn’t matter at all but that did mean she wouldn’t be able to share the wonders that she knew. A slight shame but not an issue..

Suddenly he heard a rush of hooves slamming to the ground heavily shortly followed by a blue blur moving quickly through the trees. Too late came the realisation that the blur was heading directly for him, no way to stop the encounter he braced himself for the impact.

BAM! She hit him with such a ferocious force that he was knocked off balance and feel sheepishly onto his side, realisation that it was her, the mare he had spent two weeks looking for set in. Panic filled his mind; did she do that on purpose? Was she injured? Was it some game he didn’t know the rules to? Or perhaps she did not recognise him, perhaps she had forgotten him already. The sinking feeling returned to his heart but only for a moment as he began to watch her body language, she seemed embarrassed rather than violent. Smiling softly he watched her, then before he could prevent himself he chuckled, it echoed slightly through the trees. It seemed they didn’t do anything in a normal fashion.

"What a smashing entry Moon," he continued to watched her with a gentle smile peeled across his lips, hoping that she would return his smile, look at him, do something to show any sign of acknowledgement towards him. He prayed that his journey had not been in vein.

Her heart was pounding, could he hear it? She certainly hoped not. As much as she would try, she wasn't able to hide her excitement. "Smashing, indeed...", she thought.

She was thankful to see him smile at her. Anyone else would more than likely be considerably upset at being bowled over with such force. Quickly, she scrambled to her feet, shaking off her coat as she stood. She was unaware of how wild and tangled her mane and tail remained, small bits of limb and leaf still ensnared by the strands.

Without much caution or reserve, she made her way to Maion, reaching her gead out so that she could softly rub her cheek to his. Her way of appologizing and greeting him.

She withdrew her head so that she could look at him...just as handsome as her memories had portrayed him.

Standing up he shock his body slightly in an attempt to remove most of the earth that had been deposited from the impact. It seemed that he had made the correct assumption; it had been a mere accident. He was curious why she had been running, was she simply that excited to see him again? His heart muscles contracted and relaxed with an increased pace within his chest, it began to slow softly as he calmed down and refocused his energies into the environment around him. The canopy produced by the trees above left them in a thick blanket of darkness and it was difficult to see her even with his eyes fully adjusted, he could make out most of her features, eyes, hair, nose… she was moving towards him, closer and closer she came until finally she was touching him. Frozen to the spot he allowed himself to close his eyes and as she pulled away he felt a small piece of regret go with her, opening his eyes once more he looked at her, a dopey smile still peeled across his lips. He could still recall her final actions from their previous encounter, he would remember that forever.

Adjusting his wings once more so that they where tightly ticked in at his side he took a small step towards her looking her directly in the eyes, the same eyes that he lost himself in on their last encounter, though that seemed like a small eternity away from this point in time. "I am sorry," he began, his words were laced with a worry that he had left her alone for too long, "for being late." He smiled at her.

Although he would have happily stood starring into her eyes all night long, he knew that it would not be deemed inappropriate behaviour, so his mind considered all the possibilities given their current location. The lake came to mind, a miniature version of the Ocean that reflected the stars and the moon in a perfect image of splendour. "Would you care to swim?"

His words registered softly in her ears, she didn't care that he was late, she was only happy that he had kept his word and returned. She wasnt' sure why it mattered so much to her, perhaps she wanted to know if he could be trusted, depended on...or, perhaps it was more. The flutters in her stomach tried to tell her it was more, but she tried not to listen for now.

She had watched the stars dancing in the night skies every night since his departure, she imagined him up there..somewhere...looking down on her. At least tonight, she would not have to imagine. She felt a tad guilty for thinking that he wasn't coming back. After all, it was only one encounter, he had no ties to her.

Throwing her head back to one side, Sengdroma moved some of the stray strands of mane that had fallen into her face. There was no fixing her appearance at the moment, but she didn't care. She heard him ask if she would like to take a swim, bobbing her head several times she answered "yes".

Having spent much of her time near the lake and other places of water, Sengdroma was quite the swimmer. She imagined that floating and being supported by the water was as close as she'd ever get to flying. She had watched her father and select siblings take to the skies many times, while she and the others were land bound.

She stood there, still in a bit of disbelief. One, because Maion had kept his word, and two, because she had literally run him over. She turned, halfway between Maion and the path that lead back to the lake. She reached over nibbling gently at his mane for a moment. He had a branch stuck at the top of one of his long braids, she removed it and dropped it to the ground. She caught the gaze of his brilliant blue eyes, looking away quickly, then looking back she offered him a sheepish smile and an appologetic shrug of her shoulders.

Stunned for a moment he lowered his head slightly so she could reach whatever she was aiming for more easily, then the thought occurred to him, did she care about his appearance? Looking down at his hooves he attempted to examine every inch, evidently he would need to ask for Elijah’s help next time, she was usually good at braiding his hair and dressing his wounds. As the surprised wiped away he watched her walking away from him, evidently this feeling was the same she had felt when he had left her, except she had no means by which to follow him. He felt slightly ashamed for that, although he was uncertain why.

Seconds past by in a flash and he realised she was getting away from him, smiling he decided to race her. One… two… three… he set off, moving one leg in front of the other, picking up speed with each step as he lessoned the gap between them, catching her up he called out "race you" he chuckled softly as he turned away and continued running towards the lake, wings where off limit since she did not have them also but meant nothing, the muscles in his legs flexed with each movement, a wave of concentration peeled onto his face as he attempted to beat her to the lake. Although he could of pushed himself faster he did not want to gap between them to ever become to great, after all he wanted too see if she could catch him.

She let out a startled squeak as he took to a fast run and passed her by challenging her to a race! " Ah, cheater!" she thought as she laughed to herself.

Her small frame was surprisingly fast, her hooves once again dug into the earth below her as she did a half spin so that she could head in the right direction. A wide toothy smile was plastered to her face as she ran. She wouldn't be able to catch up with him, but she could close the space between them. Maion had the advantage of longer legs to carry him over more ground than she did. She didn't mind, she enjoyed seeing his playful side.

The two sounded like more like a herd running as their hooves sounded off into the forest. Each step creating a melody that they seemed to be running to. She would only come to think of it later, but every time they met, they seemed to make music with one another.

Ducking her head under low lieing limbs, dirt flew up from beneath her hooves as she ran, trailing Maion. In the bits of moonlight that broke through the canopy above, she watched as his muscles rippled beneath his coat his mane and tail flowing behind him as if teasing her to catch up.

He allowed himself the treat of turning his head towards her for a brief moment she seemed determined to keep up, he felt free around her, as if he didn’t need to worry about the commitments he had to the world, or his fear of lacking and disappointing those who depended on him. She lifted his spirits and she didn’t even know it. Turning his attention back to the run he smiled as he left the forests tree line, the Moon glistened above like a tiny glimpse of hope it was accompanied by its symphony of shimmering stars.

Step by step he closed the distances of himself and the Lake, it glistened in a rippling pool of silver and dark blue while tiny orbs of gold sparkled their reflections in the water. Slowing down by a fraction in an attempt to allow the mare to close the gap between them. His smile was unchanging on his face; it had been so long since he had been playful like this.

Inch by inch he gained on the lake, entering seamlessly his wings spreading high in the air to prevent getting overly wet as the ripples gently began to pulsate around him. Turning he caused a small splash as he watched her approached, mesmerised for a moment in her movements, the muscles, the way the light caught her pelts fascinating patterns, she was shinning so brightly that he was surprised he was the only one looking at her. Blushing softly he turned his attention to the water hoping that by watching the gentle ripples he would have the opportunity to see her reflection as she approached and entered to join him.

She knew that Maion would reach the lake first, but she had no intention of slowing down. She closed the gap as best she could, even though she was still several yards behind him. Still caught up in the game, she didn't think that she may need to slow down before entering the lake.

At full speed she exited the treeline heading towards the water, just as her hooves reached the outline of the lake she lept like a spring filly into the water creating a rather large splash. Droplets of water poured down around her and Maion. Once her body resurfaced, mane drenched and plastered to her face, she moved to face Maion a wide eyed fun filled look upon her face. She hadn't had this much fun in ages.

Using her nose she tossed water up at Maion, her eyes dancing with silent laughter. She noted that he held his wings high, she would try her best to avoid wetting them. She was sure it would be hard for him to fly with weighted down wings.

Pulling her knees up high, she high stepped through the water to make her way to Maion. Water splashed and sent ripples dancing over the surface of the lake. Just as she remembered, he looked magnificent in the moonlight. The stars sparkled gracefully and the moon shone bright, how was it that every night with him seemed perfect? Her head tilted as she thought, it was just silly thoughts of a filly, she shouldn't feel such a way about a stranger...but then...he had come back for her.

Smiling playfully towards the pretty mare he attempted to splash her back, his locks soaking up the water and weighting down his head slightly more than usual, but luckily it was no match for his strength. He trained every day to ensure that he could run faster and further than the day before, yet lately he had found himself distracted, something had been dancing, playing over and over again in his mind. It was nice though, letting the worries of the world evaporate as he allowed himself to become consumed in the moment, their moment.

Still holding his wings high in the sky in an effort to keep them dry he looked around, the water ripples gentle from each of them, it was like they where great energy sources conversing silently on the sleek silvery surface of the water. Their reflections merging with that of the sky above to form a magical essence of blues, greens, blacks and speckles of silver. Like paint dripping off canvas he felt bare standing before her, all of his secrets had vanished; all his protections had disappeared into nothingness.

Moving slowly towards him he realised that his friend Elijah was still nestled safely away in his main, panic sprawled over his mind as he wandered what condition she was in, he had given her no notice about his entry into the water or his plans for the evening. "ELIJAH!" He called, his voice laced with the same panic that had now locked his body, yet moments later there came a welcomed relief, slowly a small nose peeked through his drenched locks, shortly followed by he full face breaking free, her fur seemed drenched also yet there was a small smile peeled upon her lips. Relief, at least she was ok.

Elijah looked at the surroundings, unsure what to make of her current situation yet it was clear it was night. She also noticed that Maion was not alone, another accompanied him, a female, and a pretty one at that. She spoke; her voice was as high pitched as always as she focused all of her attention on Maion. "I am ok, no need to worry." To convoy her words she gentle rubbed her cheek into his own to comfort him.

Sengdroma couldn't help but to smile, Maion made her feel special, something in her chest fluttered every time he looked at her with his blue eyes that seemed to almost glow. Her mane and tail pooled on top of the rippling water, gracefully swirling as the movement carried each strand.

Water dripping from the shorter part of her mane that surround her face, she gave quite a startled look when Maion called out for Elijah. Her head tilted and she peered at him, confused as to whom he was talking to. She was Moon to him..not Elijah.

Suddenly, his mane began to move on it's own it seemed. Sengdroma squinted, taking a closer look to make sure she wasnt' seeing things. Then, the nose..then the face of a familiar! Goodness, what secrets this stallion held!

Sengdroma's expression turned to one of bemusement when Elijah gently nuzzled the cheek of the stallion, it was apparent that they were close. Ever so gently, Sengdroma nudged the small creature with a smile "Hello there," she thought to herself as if Elijah could hear.

Looking up to Maion, Sengdroma moved her head, motioning towards the shore. Perhaps it was time to leave the depths of the water and on to dry ground. Maion would need to dry his wings, and Sengdroma was quite curious of his traveling companion. Her father had a familiar, but Shilo was a ferret. Maion's companion looked familiar, but she couldn't quite place what animal she...he...was? Sengdroma was unsure if the creature was male or female...the voice said female, but the name....She shook her head, it made no difference. Any friend of Maions would be a friend of her's as well.

Watching both Elijah and Moon she smiled, it seemed like they would at least get along which was a first for Elijah, lowering his wings without thinking their tips gently caressed the cooling liquid below, closing his eyes for a moment he took in the calming sensation he felt flood over his body. Elijah moved softly, his locks running over his cheek, clinging to his pelt in thick clumps she seemed to be content.

Transferring his gaze towards Moon he continued to smile she was signalling for them to return to the shore yet he somehow wished they could stay in the water for a little longer, reluctantly he agreed wadding slowly back to the dry land.

Elijah’s attention remained on the mare, nose twitching her beady eyes unblinking something about the mare captivated her in a similar manor to Maion’s attraction towards her, she could see why he was so entranced about her. Cocking her head slightly one side she spoke, her high pitched voice reaching Maion’s eyes sharply yet he knew her words where not directed at him, "Do you like him?" Innocently Elijah asked her question not predicting the effect it would have upon those around, she simply meant as a friend although Maion had interpreted it differently.

A blush filled Maion’s cheeks as the question filled his mind, why had Elijah asked such a question, she usually didn’t talk to strangers.
