Looking back at my culture, I was surprised that we actually have some myths, legends and scary stories that go way back. I'm going to tell you (from the top of my head) some beings/creatures that may be very different or similar to the ones that the world is familiar with:
Warning: You may have trouble pronouncing these words xd
arrow Aswang:These are like your vampires, and they, of course, hunt at night and are able to shift into any form. In most movies they are portrayed as bats, although they could also take in the form of cats, dogs and other humans
arrow Mananaggal:Like "aswang", only at a certain time of day, before they "hunt", they rub this sort of liquid (oil?) on their torso, and they soon disembody themselves. They then grow wings and leave the lower body on a hidden place, and hunt and eat people. (How do they keep their food in? xd ) These have been shown in many Filipino Horror movies. AT dawn they then go back to where they have hidden the lower part of their body and reattach themselves.
arrow Kapre: From stories in my childhood, Kapres are giant men always smoking a tobacco cigar that never runs out on the base of a tree (their home?). Most say that they are harmful, some say they are harmless, if you pay them proper respect.
arrow Tikbalang: A creature with the head of a horse and a human body (kind of like a centaur, only not... sweatdrop ). They are said to have foul-smelling breath and lure people with magical pranks. Some are said to eat not only fruits but human flesh as well.
arrow Tiyanak A baby monster! A mother will give birth to a baby, and the baby will transform to a horrible little monster and then back to an adorable baby again. They can be killed with holy water.
arrow White Lady: A lady ghost dressed in...white... sweatdrop ...I don't know if they are harmful or not but I think they just want to be seen. My aunty said that sometimes they help travellers who are (lost?), or warn them to not go to a certain direction. I think they are just restless spirits
We also have gnomes (who live on earth mounds and if you pass an earth mound you're supposed to say "Excuse me"), evil animals, and ghosts. Am not sure if we have werewolves.
