The only thing between Ike and Texas is open ocean. xp

We're hunkering down and waiting it out again. It'll probably be a lot worse this time around. We'll probably lose power for a while too crying

We have even more supplies than with Gustav; enough bottled water to last at least through the whole weekend, tons of canned food, and flashlights, hurricane lamps, lanterns, and a freaking ton of batteries to make it through. Our house is on a hill and we have flood insurance so it's all good in the hood. cool

No school tomorrow, and no work for the next two days or so.

Yall wanna come down to Texas for a hurricane party? BYOB.

I should say something fair-haired and ask why hurricanes effects are never too bad inland, though I'll pass.

A hurricane party sounds like the perfect time to sing slurred disney songs while paddling around one's kitchen floor in an inch of water. I'd totally be in if I had a week off of school and a way to get there. LAWLS.

lol, showtunes!

Right now it's over warm water with basically no obstacles, and that's all it needs to grow. Once it hits land it pretty much gets a bunch of drag and slows down a lot, losing a bunch of power. If the winds are high enough then it can generate some tornadoes though, which is what we're worried about the most. We're inland enough that we probably won't flood but we're supposed to get some really heavy rain.

It's already getting windy and pretty dark, and landfall isn't until around midnight.

I read the title with the voice of Jerry Seinfeld.
