I'm not sure if anyone else has heard about this. I only recently did. I thought it'd be a good idea to tell everyone about it. Just to see your reactions.

James Potter and the Hall of Elders' Crossing is a fanfiction novel sequel to the Harry Potter series. Obviously, it's about his son, James Potter.

Quote:
Taking place a year prior to the events of the Epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry's son James boards the Hogwarts Express on his way to begin his first year as a student at the famous school of magic. James is shy and nervous, deeply concerned about the tremendous Potter family legacy that he feels pressured to live up to. On the train, he makes two new friends: Zane Walker and Ralph Deedle. Both are Muggle-born, and Zane is an American, the son of a Hollywood movie producer temporarily living in Great Britain. Upon arriving at Hogwarts, James is sorted into Gryffindor House, Zane is sorted into Ravenclaw, and Ralph is sorted into Slytherin.

Teddy Lupin invites James and Zane to join the Gremlins, a club of pranksters that includes himself, Lupin's friend Noah Metzker, and several other students from across Hogwarts' houses. The Gremlins sneak out of the castle through a secret passageway and play a prank, called "raising the wocket," on a Muggle farmer, who later reports that "Martians" have been stealing his tomatoes.

That year at Hogwarts, the school plays host to representatives from the American school of magic, Alma Aleron. These include students, representatives of the American Department of Magical Administration, and three teachers. These teachers are Professor Franklyn (who is in fact the inventor, Benjamin Franklin), Professor Jackson, and Madame Delacroix.

Like his father before him, James gets into much trouble, and gets entangled in a larger plot to destabilize the magical and non-magical worlds. This involves an organization known as the Progressive Element, who wish to make the magical world known to the Muggles, and three relics which are believed to be able to bring Merlin to this day and age, at the Hall of Elders' Crossing.

That's the plot summary from Wikipedia.

It's wrtten by George Norman Lippert. It was written as a fanfiction project for his wife and kids and he published it online on his site that he created. It's got a bunch of flash animation and a cool intro video. There's a Quibbler article that talks about him showing the story to J.K. Rowling. There's even a downloadable version of the book.

I downloaded the book and read the first few chapters. I think it's kind of interesting. The second one's coming out too. It's called "Curse of the Gatekeeper."

There's also a youtube series being made out of it. The Wizard Rock band Oliver Boyd and the Rememberalls was asked to write a song for it. You can go to the OBATR Myspace and hear the song. It's called "In Your Shadow". It's really good.

So, what do you guys think?

That... seems a little silly. The plot, anyway. But it's cool it's got a huge following I guess.

I LOVE good fan fiction--anything with such a following catches my interest.
5 points to you for finding it and sharing it so thorougly (links, Wikipedia summary). Good thinking to post it in the main forum.

What do you guys think? Should HP fan fic recommendations be first announced in the Great Hall, their own thread or what? A lot of times they're announced in Common Rooms only, and the rest of us don't benefit from knowing about em

We'll leave Ray V's thread here in the main forum for a month or so, then port it into the Fan Fiction subforum, where folks on the look out for recommended fanfic are likely to go.

Let me point out we only have 7 votes so far in our monthly FanFic Contest - and there are some outstandingly good stories this month - remember to VOTE, please!

It sounds interesting. I love James Potter the I or II stories. It's actually a book? That's pretty cool. It would be weird not be written by JK though. Thanks for pointing that out.
