Okay so, most people out there want world peace. Right? But a lot of people do not believe it is possible. Here is a thread where you can post about if you think world peace is achieveable or not, and don't forget supporting details explaining why. Then debate it! Who knows, maybe we could end up finding a way for world peace. ^_~

You're supposed to supply your own opinion as well, not just start a thread and ask for other people to respond.
Anyway, I don't think it's possible without major sacrifices. In order for everyone to behave peacefully, they'd all have to follow the same rules, and the only way that's possible is if some World Emperor takes power and makes a decree. As long as individual countries believe in different kinds of behavior, there will be disagreements about how things should be run, and that alone will stop world peace from becoming reality.

World peace, never possible, because even once it seems like it has been achieved, there will always be people that are irrational idiots and hate others, sure we can achieve a world in general peace, if we had a world government, but there will still always be problems with groups of people so i say no

If world peace was possible, chances are it would be acheived by now.
Also, if some how, all violence suddenly did stop and there was world peace, fighting would only start beck up again as rvery one of diffrent opions on how to live and how to run things get into arguments of rising tentions untill war starts over who has the better shirt on today.

It definately can't be done right now i'd say.... with everything going on over in Iraq and two countries fighting over a small piece of land
Even if this wasn't happening, like Zorlock said people are too different. They have different ideas, different religeons etc. and they all thik they're right!

Ah, well, my own opinion is that I am not quite sure. I want to believe that it is possible to obtain world peace one day, but as others have posted on here, it doesn't seem possible. I am just confused on why people cannot just accept that everyone has all different ideas and that all ideas should be accepted and not discriminated against. I just don't get it which is why I am still undecided. There is my opinion ^_^

Why? Because no matter what there will be conflict. Humans are violent people, and there will also be "crazies" and bullies. No one can change that.

Why? Because no matter what there will be conflict. Humans are violent people, and there will also be "crazies" and bullies. No one can change that. Exactly my thoughts as well. There will always be a person who wants more. It's our need to have the best life possible for us, and if you have the option of invading a country right next to you that has a possible oil field thennnn it would be hard to say "naw we'll let them off the hook."

Obviously I don't want a war or anything, but I'm not sure world peace is such a good thing. I think conflict makes us keep striving and growing. Think about how many technological advancements wouldn't have been made if we weren't competing. If there had been world peace and the U.S. wasn't racing against Russia, we wouldn't have landed on the moon.

I agree with you on the point that separate countries is always going to create disagreements. The only thing is, If we had some World Emperor, it would be so likely that we would fall apart. All Empires in history have crumbled. It would just be a matter of time before our World was in mass chaos. Sure, there may be a few.. hours... of world peace, but I think that it would be too much of a sacrifice for us to attempt a World Empire. We would lose too many humans in the war that would definitely proceed, and I don't think it would be worth it in the end. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the concept of World Peace, it would be great to live in a world where there was no war, but I just don't think it is viable. People are too opinionated. And it is a good thing that they are. It is a part of human nature to be argumentative and opinionated. The only way that World Peace would be feasible would be if 99% of the world was brainwashed except for the one in charge. Personally, I don't see the point in that because what kind of life would we be living? In the end, I guess my opinion is: World Peace is a nice idea, but it isn't even in the realm of possibilities. (not to be a pessimist or anything)

kill off almost everyone exept a few thousand or hundred good people heavily monitor them and have them live there life like the matrix, that way if they hurt someone, its only virtual.lett nature reclaim most of her territory

world peace could be acomplished but not now maybe in 10 decades or so we can come close but war is almost every where there is always going to be a person who hates someone crying
