Read the paragraph after the Dragon Ball crapWhat do you guys think? Would you still see it even if you thought it was going to be bad? I'd like to hear some opinions about this, especially on who you would cast for the characters, because I don't think Megan Fox is a good enough match for Botan since Botan is cute where Megan is sexy (I don't think Miss Fox wants to be covered up in a bright, pink kimono). I WILL kill them if they cast a tall guy to play Hiei! Any bids that they will cast Orlando Bloom for Kurama? Just give him his Legolas face and a red wig. I'm hoping they can find someone prettier though.

Because Yu Yu Hakusho doesn't have that much of a market in the US, I'd be surprised if they decided to make a live action movie, let alone one not made by the Japanese and dubbed (like, say, the Death Note live actions.)
However, if someone made it, I would TOTALLY see it. Not necessarily because I would think it was good and not because I'd want to see someone butcher YYH. I would want to see it because anything and everything associated remotely with YYH is interesting to me. I try and soak up as much YYH as I can, no matter the medium or suckiness. Plus, I'd want to give it a chance, in case it was good.
As for Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Yusuke, from those pictures it looks awesome. I would like to see Megan Fox as Botan, she seems like she could pull that off realistically. As for Hiei and Kurama? I have no idea. I would really hate it if Orlando Bloom played Kurama because I don't think he can act at all, plus he's way too old. I also hope they keep Hiei short. What about Kuwabara and Keiko? Hmmm...

I saw a video someone did on YouTube. Sounds like it was announced in July of this year that it's happening. A lot of anime is getting American movies (Dragon Ball, Astro Boy, Evangelion, etc.), so I'm not surprised so much that it's getting a movie as I am that it's the Americans doing the movie.
I'm the same. Even if it got horrible reviews (Speed Racer, Aeon Flux), I would still see it for the love of all that is YYH. I think it would be interesting to see what they do, whether it be good or bad.
They do look pretty cool. And I wouldn't mind Fox as Botan, I just think they should check out some other options for cuter girls before going for her. I actually think Shizuru would be a better role for Fox. I do agree with you on Kurama though. Bloom is rather old, but he does a great job of playing a pretty boy, so I don't think it is a bad match. The problem is trying to find people that can pull off looking like a teen. I don't know what saga they are covering (if they are doing something from the storyline), but it's going to be hard to find people that can match the look correctly.
As for me, I'm more interested in seeing who would get cast for Kuwabara and Yukina. Kuwa-chan is so tall and Yukina is so peteit (sp?) and quiet. Oooooo! What about Mukuro?! THAT would be so awesome! heart

I'd go see it!!! The actor looks very promising for Yusuke. They would of course make a lot of adaptions, but it's something that they could make very awesome, like the Transformers movie =)

~headdesk~ I hate live action adaptations, whether it's for a manga or for a book. They almost always butcher the series.
I hope this turns out to be just a rumor, but if it isn't I'll just avoid it like the plague.

dude, I would totally see it. I mean, its true that they usually end up butchering the series, but look at Death Note. The live action was actually really good and its getting english dubs! The voice actors match the characters perfectly! I can't wait for that to come out.
Hopefully they don't butcher it, but even if they do, I will let my YYH heart lead me.
I wonder what they'll do for Toddler Koenma! lol XD

I'm actually getting really sick of all the ranting and raving I have seen going on about this film. Not in this thread in particular, but in other Yu Yu Hakusho threads on this site. Ever heard the saying "Don't knock it til you've tried it?" Well, I say something to that effect. Don't dub it absolute s*** until you see it for yourself. After you've seen it, and if you hate it, then by all means, rant away, go for it!
Myself, I am going to go see it, and I think it will be really interesting myself. Now, I have no clue who this Megan Fox person is, so I can't really give my thoughts on an actress for Botan. However the young man rumored to be playing Yusuke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt(I remember him from 3rd Rock from the Sun XD) he looks like he could play the part. I know I wouldn't rant and rave if I saw it.
I actually don't think they will cast Orlando Bloom as Kurama though... He's getting too old to play a teenager now, and honestly, I don't think he would look all that great with fire engine red hair. It's hard for me to speculate American actors to play the cast though... mainly because I don't pay enough attention to American actors. >> << Anime and Cartoons are my life, leave me be XD.
Anyway, I know that post looks garbled but it's my take on things. I think I will go see it if it comes out and I am actually really curious to see what they do with it.

The main problem I have when I try to think of a good actor to play Kurama is that he's so damn pretty. Thinking of someone with the right facial features AND at least half a lick of talent, acting or otherwise, is really hard. Although I have to admit that as long as they get a guy who's good-looking enough, I'll be fairly happy - I don't expect the movie to be Oscar material, after all.

I was actually going to say the same thing. She matches Shizuru so much better. Her voice is about as deep as Shizuru's too. Again, Megan is more sexy than cute, so this fits the bill for Shizuru.

Q_Q I don't think they would 'censor' them if they are the ones making the movie. (Kurama's such a psycho lol) If it does get censored, it will be only on the TV if it hits basic cable stations.
