The large charcoal male sighed. Rehani had yet to return from that trip she had taken with the cubs. Well, the cubs had returned, but his mate hadn't. The male became anxious, staying up, almost dreaming for her to come back. When the cubs were no longer cubs, Denahi had to face the facts, maybe Rehani wasn't coming back. It pained him to think it, but he had to move on with his life. He couldn't stay in the Pridelands, he only stayed there for her, and her only.

Bright blue eyes gazed into the fading sun. He was heading home. Home in the Kusini lands home. Sye had told him along time ago he would always be welcomed there by her at least, he could only hope that she would keep that vow. After all, Denahi had saved his sister's life, the least she could do was repay him for it, right?

Denahi had just crossed the borders from the Pridelands to the Roguelands, and all he could think was, "At least I don't have the cubs to bother me this time." A time prior to this, he and Rehani had dragged Baakir and Baridi to the lands to see them, and they were all but thrilled. This trip would be quiet!

The petite female really had no aim to her wanderings, as she had never truly had. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was meant to be somewhere, or that she was meant for something, but then that was really nothing new either. She couldn't have explained it to anyone if they had asked her, but she simply felt like she was meant for something, meant to do something bigger than simply wander and live her life out like a nomad. Surely there was something more to life? Yet, she just wasn't sure what that 'something' was right now.

Her gaze was on the ground, her smaller-than-average form slinking along across the ground with a natural grace and easiness about it. She was almost.. dainty, in a way, except that there was something about her that didn't seem breakable or fragile. The soft gray eyes of the mostly blue lioness swiveled up to meet the larger form of the black male, whom she could only assume was a rogue, and though he was rather unfriendly looking and covered in scars.. she wanted a reprieve from her thoughts.

"Hello," she called, her tail flicking behind her, her path adjusting in his direction. His trip probably wouldn't be quite as quiet as he thought.

Hello? His eyes shifted, spotting the blue colored lioness. Denahi huffed, staring past her as he continued to go. "Stay away from me." He said gruffily, obviously not in the mood to be bothered by another female.. He didn't know this rogue, nor did he really care to know this her. After all, a lion of his...princelly status wouldn't be hanging around such scruffy creatures. Gee, doesn't that sound familiar? The male scoffed, stopping as he noticed the female was still there. "Hello, now if you don't mind, goodbye." And with that, he moved on again.

A flash of surprise crossed her features, though it was quickly concealed. He wasn't the first grumpy sort she had encountered and she had a feeling he probably wouldn't be the last, but being the stubborn sort of creature that she was, she wasn't about to let the only means of entertainment she had found today slip away from her with nothing more than a muttered grunt. Honestly, didn't these rogues today have any manners at all?

"Hardly," she said with a bit more stone in her voice, her path averting once more to simply follow him if he wanted to continue trying to walk past her. "I do mind, as I'm trying to start a conversation, and you're being quite rude." Oh, he hadn't truly meant for her to answer, but she wouldn't back down. She was bored.

Why had he decided to leave today of all days. If he had left the day before he would never be in this get down with... "You can at least say your name if you'd like to talk." He grunted. Whatever her name was, he would never had seen her if Rehani hadn't left. That really just made him angrier. Why hadn't she come back! He felt like a horrible mate, and now....argh. The lion made a small sound in frustration. "Well, go start a conversation with the lions in Priderock, those pricks would rather have some one to talk to as well." He said, his scarred face turning towards her. "Honey, you don't know what rude is from me. To put it bluntly, I am being quite nice," He growled.

That last few sentences should have told her a little about himself, mainly that he wasn't really a rogue. Denahi had gone through so many different lives. Born in the southlands, grew up in the Kusini lands, became a pawn in the firekin lands, and finally found love in the pridelands. Now, it was as the cycle started again as he was currently found in the southlands, returning to the Kusini lands.

A soft smirk spread across her face at his rather contradicting demeanor. Trying to get her to go away and yet here he was, asking her for her name? That seemed like a very odd way to get what he wanted. "My name is Saranta," she admitted quite pleasantly, seemingly unperturbed by his attitude. She caught up to his side, dainty and graceful next to his large, dark bulk. "I'd rather not venture into the Pridelands, if it's all the same to you, I find the conversation there to be a bit too sweet for my tastes."

As he turned his scarred face to look at her, she couldn't help but let that smirk grow with a slight curving arch to her brow. "Then I would certainly hate to see what mean is," she said with a tilted head, not shaken by the growl that rumbled from his throat. "Where is it, exactly, that you're headed in such a rush?" It was idle talk, but idle talking was better than silent walking - at least to her.

Was this female ever so right. The pridelands were full of...happy sappy lions who get along with everyone! He really, truely gave him a headache, but he could never tell Rehani that. After all, those were her homelands, and she had never 'dissed' his own lands. The male nodded, frowning after a moment. "Wait, why am I still talking to you?" He grumbled, at least he wasn't fighting with her...right?

Well, that statement could have been said a little to early, as Denahi narrowed his eyes. Normally he didn't fight a female, but this one was getting on his nerve. "/If/ you must know," The charcoal adult sneered, "I am heading to my own lands. If you don't like the Pridelands, then you won't like the Kusini..." s**t he just told her the name of the pride, now if she wanted to find him she could just ask rogues...aww man.

"I mean...the firekin lands." Denahi nodded his head, yep, that one would work! If she entered the divided lands, she might not come out of it!

Her smirking little smile had only grown more mocking as he asked what was obviously meant to be a rhetorical question. "I've obviously elicited some strange, uncharacteristic reaction from you. However, I'd say you're still talking to me because you enjoy it." Oh, if he was half as annoyed as he was pretending to be, she was sure that little comment would only likely make it worse.

Her brows quirked as he stumbled over what he was saying. The Kusini sounded vaguely familiar, though she was thinking she had only heard it in passing. The firekin, however, were a very familiar land to her - who hadn't heard of those large, angry red lions? "The firekin, hm?" Her eyes flickered towards the horizon and she paused, turning to look back at him. "I'd say you're going in the wrong direction if you mean to head back home to the firekin lands." She smirked, nodding her head almost directly behind them to indicate the actual direction he should be going. Oh, she knew he was bluffing - he was nowhere near fiery or big enough to be of firekin blood. She wouldn't mind seeing the look on his face, though. "You'll never find it if you keep heading this way."

"This is a short cut to the Firekin lands." Lie. But Denahi would say anything to get the female off his tail. "How would you know? I lived there my whole childhood, I think I know my way in and out of the lands." The charcoal adult didn't know if Saranta had actually been to the lands, but all he could do was believe she hadn't and he would continue his lies. He shook his head when she nodded behind him. Damnit she knew he was lying.

"I'm sure I can find it just fine, thank you very much." The male nodded. "Maybe I just want to head on a little trip before I go home to the...firekin lands..." He drifted somewhat. Yeah, a little trip... His memories plagued him, from the Kusini lands to his actual days in the firekin lands. He shook his head. Too many memories both lands held, but only one had member that actually loved him. Or so he hoped.

"A shortcut?" she said, loping back into a walk after him, her tail lashing as she did so. She was enjoying herself, but she did try to keep too much of the enthusiasm for taunting him out of her voice. "Well, at this rate, you're going to have to go all the way around the world just to get there - that's not very short. You're going the complete opposite way." Oh, she knew he was lying. He just wasn't big enough, red enough, or even mean enough to be a firekin.

"A little trip, hm?" her eyes danced as she tilted her head, "to these Kusini lands, is it?" Oh, she hadn't let the word slip out of her head, and as she came back up at his side again, her eyes glanced up to him curiously. She looked so tiny compared to him, but even that didn't seem to make her shy away.

"So it's a long cut." He stated smugly, his tail lashing behind him as he spoke.

Though, the male didn't really feel like chatting at the moment. Or being bothered, but the female looked to be staying for a while. When she spoke of his little trip, his ears flattened. "Does it really matter to you? Are you going to follow me there if I tell you yes?" He growled. "Fine, yes. I am going to take a trip to the Kusini lands. Happy?" He glared down at the small adult next to him. "Are you going to follow me now?" He said with a huff, not waiting for her to answer before beginning to walk away without her. He just wanted to get home, his real home where the family he grew up with was, and away from the Pridelands and Southlands. There were too many memories in both the lands with his old mate that any sense of staying there would be just bothersome to him.

She merely smirked at him in amusement at his 'long cut' statement, rolling her eyes up towards him to stare at his face for a moment and the smug look on his features. Then, with a little laugh, she glanced away. He was amusing, at least.

"I don't suppose it really matters at all, no," she shrugged as she paced along at his side, dainty paws taking quick strides against the earth to keep up with him. "I could truly follow you anywhere if I wanted to, don't you think? I'd just have to be able to keep up with you, I don't necessarily need to know where you're going." It was just really idle chatter, for she wasn't really all that aware of what she was doing with the dark rogue herself yet. "I'm not sure if I'm going to follow you or not, you just simply seemed interesting." As he began to walk away, she leaped forward to fall back into pace with him, though a frown of irritation crossed her maw quickly as she realized he was going much faster than her shorter legs could keep up. Oh, the curse of being tiny!

When the much small lioness continued to follow the male, he shook his head. No one ever followed him, stalked him, whatever it was, anywhere. He didn't even like his own children following him places because faintly, it was none of their business. Likewise, it was not this female's business either but the fact of the matter was, he wasn't going to attack her.

He was saving that for when he would meet up with Tamu. Finally, his little brother would get a piece of his mind. Always hating him, now Denahi had an even bigger reason to dislike him.

"For not knowing if you are going to continuing following me or not, you sure seem like you are," he huffed, continuing the same pace as before. What was her name again...? Sa...Saranta?
PostPosted: Tue Nov 18, 2008 12:32 pm

"Maybe I will, then. Perhaps my paws have already decided for me," she said, a twinkle in her eyes as she spoke. She wasn't usually this annoying - in fact, she was quite clever, but she did like riling other up when they seemed to be such grumpy guts like he was. It was his own bad mood that had brought this on, really.

"Why, would it really be such a terrible thing to have a little company?" she ventured, though she had a feeling he would just snap at her and tell her that yes, yes it would. Her eyes rolled up to look at him as her shorter legs strained to keep up pace. "Why does talking to someone irritate you so terribly?" She didn't really think he was the sort to resort to physical violence to get rid of her and she could withstand quite a bit of verbal abuse from the best of them before she eventually got bored enough to leave. The fact of the matter right now, however, was that she was lonely and that he looked like as good a target as any to settle her attention on.

Fine, she could follow him, but would she just be quiet for a few minutes!
Sighing in defeat, Denahi shook his head. “I guess not,” he muttered, but held a tone of reluctance to it. His speed slowed slightly as his eyes turned towards the shorter female. “You are annoying, you know that?” He didn’t answer her last question. His own mind pondered it continuously though. Why did it irritate him so much? Well..ever since he was a little cub he disliked the common ‘talking’ principle and would rather fight. Perhaps this was the reason.

He looked ahead. “Where are you from?” He asked gruffily. He could always /try/ this conversation thing. If it didn’t work he knew at least he could probably out run the female.
