Just joined the guild, made some posts, introduced myself..thought I'd post some pictures. XD

This is Mozzarella Pearl. She is my one year old black and white chip female. She is my teacher, the first skunk in the family. She came to me from a breeder about an hour from her. I did over 6 months of research before I got the okay from my parents. This research included contacting and befriending the president and founder of SKunkHaven.net (national skunk rescue). I am now the Jr. Rep for the place. How spiffy! They rescued a domestic skunk from Japan once....Hurra SkunkHaven!

Mohz has won 5 prizes at a skunk show.
She is a special skunk. My love.


This is CJ. He is a one year old black and white chip male. He was a rescue in my state and as a rep I can rescue them and rehome them. (I have yet to rehome any...I love them too much ;.; )
Anyway...He was overweight and very discolored when he came to us. He was neglected and abused, kept in a small crate for his whole life with his past family. The discoloration was from stress, no exercise, and bad diet. He got only dog food there. We also think that when he was out of the crate he was kicked if he came near feet, just by the way he reacts to us when we walk. One other thing, he was not neutered until after he came to us at 11 months old. He got neutered at just under one year. Males should be done at FOUR months. He was getting a bad attitude and males smell when not neutered. The smell is just about gone and he is MUCH nicer. Still a little chompy but nothing we can't live with. (:


This is Thundyr. She came to us about a few weeks ago. She is three (about) months old. She is a smokey and chocolate swirl female. (one parent was grey, one was brown)

Her owner loves skunks for her whole life (ish) and after she got Thundyr she died. (cancer) Very sad. I talked to her before she got the baby, and she seemed to be a VERY nice person and good pet-mom. Thundyr is a sweet girl.


Vhlad is our male Sugar glider. He doesn't have a special story. Our friend's got a little...excited and had babies. (This was before he got the male bald spot)


Tasha. She is related to Vhlad by having the same father but a different mother.


Keetah is the shyer of the twins, or all three actually. Full twin to Tasha, half sister to Vhlad.


Athlone is our black cat. She was found in a parking lot. She is very feral but loves the family and the house. No matter what we can't keep her inside so we eventually gave in and she is allowed out when she wants. (as long as there is no snow). When it rains I go out there with a towel and find her and bring her in. We live in a heavily wooded area so I don't worry about cars with her. :3


Tobi! Our white German shepherd. I love this girl. She is well behaved and a fighter. She was diagnosed with EPI and after our old vet's boss-vet ******** us over with medication our vet quit and got his own practice. So yay good vet with a MUCH better office! Tobi is fine, gaining weight slowly but surley.


Nynjah. Oh god..the dog that refuses to be trained. XD


I have fish but I can't get a good picture of all of them.
I was going to make a section for my pets on the rainbow bridge, but I think putting those images in the rainbow bridge mini thread would be a bit more appropriate. Though I can mention them.
Velosa; Green Tree Iguana that lived out her full life in a HUGE enclosure. Bit no one ever in her life and loved strawberries.
Raptor; Not sure what he was but he passed on when I was little. He hated everyone but my mom. He was some kind of horned lizard...
Azariyah; Our angel who will never be forgotten. A wolf-hybrid who came to us through the SPCA. She was a well behaved dog but thought she was a puppy no matter how old she was. Someone cut her lead when we were not paying attention to her (we were moving boxes from a truck in the house) and had her tied in the back. Some a** cut her rope and she ran off. She ALWAYS came back around dark, and when she didn't we got worried. We never found her though someone said a dog fitting her picture was hit on the highway..but we couldn't find any body or blood or anything ):
Stripey; another SPCA dog. I was young when she passed on but she was a good dog. Died of old age in out kitchen.

Friend's had babies. Sold to me for 200 dollars for all three plus a HUGE cage, food, toys, bedding, and bonding pouches.

Are they not sold there because they are not legal? Always check the legal ability of the pet before buying.

Internet ish teh god of everything!

SkunkHaven.Net has the laws for skunks, though I would check with your game commission to make sure that laws have not changed since we last checked. Those people will also tell you about other pets you can find.

Somewhere on SunCoast Sugar Gliders they have a list of where sugars are legal and not legal, but those I would DEFFINATLEY check with the GC before getting, or at least the owner of suncoast. The list isn't recently updated...a few states the laws changed since that list was made.

It's not about the uniqueness of a pet, it's the love they give you. Skunks take a lot of care and time. Not a good pet for the busy person. If youa re in school or work a lot a skunk is not a good pet for you!

Sugar gliders play a night and can be noisy. If you can not spend a few hours with them when they are awake, then what's the point? ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS do research for the pet you are going to get before you do it. I've researched skunks for half a year, had one for over a year, and now rescue them and still research anything I can about domestic and wild skunks. (:

You can let them loose but you have to take a LOT of precautions. If you have two or three people with you they can jump from one to another if you train them to. When I am cleaning at night I put them in hamster balls if they want (they have the choice) and they run around the house with me.

My friend and MANY people use a camping tent and set it up in their house. They take some toys, their wodent wheel, and some food and water in the tend and let them play in there. It is also a great way to bond in the tent because they have the choice to go by you or near you while you sit still or offer them treats.
