Not to be mean but I think just maybe it started in Ireland and was call all Hallows eve. The original origin was carving turnips and radishes to keep demons and spirits away on that day. America did not event the holiday nore is it what it used to be. WE commercialized it but they were both invented by the Pegan religion. Don't believe me look it up.
