Okay we know how everyone has band camp.
I just recently (in April) found out I got drum major for next year's marching season.
Which obviously excited me a lot.
*cough* Anyways...
I went to a drum major camp in USC (gamecocks not trojans) for a week to see what all I was doing wrong and stuff.
I had so much fun I didn't wanna leave, but I had to and I just got back Friday.
So my question is...have you ever been to anything like this? Did you have fun? Did you hate it?

Yeah, I've been to Drum Major Academy twice now (it's the best drum major camp, I'd recommend going there instead if you're not already, although it might be more expensive or something). Both times were amazing! Best five days ever! The first time, I didn't know much about drum majoring, calling commands, or conducting, and even though it was really, really difficult and left me aching all over every night, it was amazing! So much fun! The second time was even better, because I'd done it before, so all of the commands were easy, all of the notes were easy (as I just looked out for the few things I hadn't really been good on the past year), and I got to be a squad leader (like section leader over a group of drum majors who haven't attended DMA before). Squad leader was great! Anyways, I love DMA!

Are you talking about the George Parks Drum Major Academy?
I'm going this year with my drum major and other assistant drum major to the one at the University of Redlands. I'm so nervous and excited, haha.
One of our past drum majors said the first time she went, she wished she wasn't there, at first. .___.lll
