I have played guitar for a while now, but before that I was playing GH. One of the big things I noticed in the GH community is customization with the stickers they provided. Since my guitar is pretty beat up (mostly thanks to crappy straps and little brothers), I put some stickers on it to make it look a bit "better". What are your opinions on sticker customization?

I just went on a school picnic, and a lot of other people brought their guitars. None of theirs had stickers, but were in supreme condition. A lot of people said mine looked best, though... Sorry, but I can't post any pics. My family still believes in film...

dude i think it's all up to you. being a musician means expressing yourself in your own way, and your instrument of choice should reflect your creativity.

Be unique in everything you do. Some don't want to disturb a beautiful guitars image. thats fine. But others like to makes theres very distinct (ie Eddie Van Halen, Wylde, ect) I have a LTD DV8R that is VERY distinctive that I KNOW no one else has. the bottom wing was broken off and I used wood glue and screwed in some steel plate reinforcements to hold it back together. This thing looks like a ******** METAL MACHINE (Literally). and for sentimental purposes I tied a red band over the crack line. My guitar is bitchin with looks and tone to match. Let your gutiar convey what you want it to. and if the look of coming straight off the production line isn't you, then change it. Good luck! biggrin

well I mean stickers are fun to play with it's just that you want to be sure you really want to put them where you want to on the guitar before you stick em because if you mess up putting it on or decide you don't want it on there you could get that white paper leftover once you rip it off (you know when the sticker like rips and the bottom part sticks to the surface). All I have to say. In my own opinion stickers belong on guitar hero controllers not on actual guitars, but that's just me. Express yourself.
haha my cousins and I hold contests for who has the coolest and the gayest (sorry if offensive just cuz I can't find any other word to fit) sticker designs on the controllers and mine always wins<3 (coolest that is.)

Now days it's naive to deny that the image is half the band. So at the end of the day all anyone can say is, be yourself man! I've got a few guitars, my latest electric is a Fender Jaguar. Only had it since February and I'm still scared of it getting scratched. Then on the other end of the spectrum, my old Vintage SG rip off, and it is without a doubt MY sg. I've sanded off the neck, taken off all the volume knobs, scratched my name in the back with an old key, replaced two tuning pegs, and threw it on the floor so many times there's now a giant amount of varnish missing from the bottom of the guitar.
Stickers aren't my thing, it's too punky and has been done waaaaaaaaay too many times before. I'm all about the originality! =P Though could work depending on your guitar. Try and get a picture up with a friends camera or something.

I am a big fan of stickers on guitars myself. It's like a mark of ownership, because no two guitarists have the same stickers arranged the same way. I like to put stickers with a message on my own guitars, showing what bands I like or a smart-a** Happy Bunny sticker.

It depends on the guitar. My acoustic guitar has a beautiful finish. Why would I want to ruin it with stickers?
But my Squier Strat could be a candidate for stickers, I suppose.
I'm not a huge fan of stickers on musical instruments in general. One day, five years from now, you may very well look at the guitar and want to kill yourself because that sticker all the way to the left right underneath the bridge totally clashes with the guitar's color, and you can't get it off because half of the stickum isn't going to come off right and will leave a big white sticky splotch on the guitar.

umm...hey I don't know if you guys know but that stuff about the adheisive being left behind isn't that big of deal. I had a guitar that I was going to sell once and it had 3 stickers on it. you just peel it off and what ever you don't get off you use a razor blade; you GENTLY lift the adhiesive/paper. then you come back through with water/alcohol and a cloth to clean the rest off.. its not permanent. You put a sticker on. if you don't like then do the work and remove it.

Lol.

steam/water OR the way I described won't hurt the finish. ...unless your a brute with no hand eye coordination. I doubt the alcohol will effect the finish much but if you don't trust it just water then.

It's a "depend" factor to me. Stickers can look cool on Fenders and such, but they look painful on Gibsons. >.>
