Just curious how many of us belive in reincarnation/past lives. If you do, have you explored your past lives and what methods have you used to do so? Do you feel that one method works better than another for exploring your past lives?

I believe in Reincarnation. I belive we live many lives. Exploring past lives is something that we should take with a lot of caution. Chris Penczak has a meditation for it based on his Inner Temple of witchcraft book. If your interested I could probably find it for you.

I think that when we think about it, it's this life that's important. I mean we can't go back an experience our "old" lives again. This is our life. Focus on the here and now. If there is a lesson from our past we need, it'll come to us when we do a regression.

I got that book a while ago (along with the cds), but never got a chance to read it and have since misplaced both. I was actually looking for it earlier today - funny blaugh

For the most part I was just looking for some general discussion on the topic - I have my own methods which tend to be more of a "clinical" approach as I use hypnotherapy (regression therapy) when doing my regressions. Just was curious what everyone else's thoughts were.

I do agree that our current lives are what is important, but also believe that exploring the past is an excellent way to learn about ourselves. As you said if there are lessons that we need to learn - the best way to discover what they are is by doing regressions.

I'm a Christian, but I at one point was Buddhist, as well as Wiccan, and I did at that time believe in reincarnation.

Now I'm a Christian, but I'm sort of torn between believing in Heaven and considering the possibility of past & future lives.

I believe in Reincarnation, and I think that most religions do as well or at least you can turn the term to fit their own beliefs systems of life after death. For example, Athetist believe that they just die, correct? Well their bodies decay and eventually find their ways into make other forms to help them grow. Kind of like what you put in your mouth becomes a part of you, deal, same thing. So their bodies become apart of a life, and thus are somewhat reincarnated. Likewise in christianity, where the body dies but the soul gains another body to live in heaven with. (If I need to source that, I'll be happy to go through the Orthodox dialogs and religious philosophy, due to the fact that Orthodoxy and Some catholic chruches as well as some copics are more 'true' to the original religious system than any other branch off) Which is also a reincarnation situation. The only thing different between the reincarnation of christianity and the reincarnation of reincarnation is that Christainity states you only do it once, where as reincarnation states that you do it many times.

Anyhoo, some lovely mixing up religions to mess with your minds. 8D

Reincarnation is like a building stone in my own personal explanation of everything.

And yes, I've tried to research my own past lives, I believe that I know at least three or well... that's a little complicated, and as for any others during the trance (I had just come out of another trace in which to find out all my totemn animals so I was a little shaken), I got to the "library" of my soul and ended up snapping out of the trace.

biggrin So that's about it.

I just have issues with the whole idea of past lives. Probably has something to do with that there's very few documented cases that actually stand up to scrutiny and even those that do don't strike me as irrefutable proof of the notion. I also have a strong feeling that because it's such a buzz topic in New Age/Neopagan circles, that people trace mystical experiences to past lives as a cause when there may be other explanations (both mundane and metaphysical).

For example, I have this odd connection with Japan. While I became aware of this through the classic route of Japanese popular media (and boy, I got my foot in that door before manga/anime was easily available everywhere) it transcends simple fangirl/fanboy superficiality. When I visited the place, it just had this mystical feel to it. Like I simply belonged there; I fell profoundly in love with the country and its cultural feel. When our plane was taking off, the sadness I felt about leaving literally moved me to tears. And I'm exactly an emo person who cries a lot.

Some would interpret this profound connection as evidence of a past life in Japan. While I acknowledge this as a possibility, I really don't feel any need to validate my connection with Japan by such a justification. For whatever reason, something about Japanese culture really resonates with me. Being aware of and honoring that connection is enough for me right now. It's the connection that's important to me, not fixating on some flight of fancy of 'oh, I was a wife of some samurai in such and such daimyo... blah blah blah.'

One of my guides though, likes to bug me about past life stuff. I suspect at some point s/he'll manage to pry open that door for me wider than s/he already has with some guided journeywork, but for now... things'll sit as they sit.

For me it is a central tenant of my path. It leads to ascension which is the process of evolving to the next spiritual level.

After some very vivid reoccurring dreams where I kept seeing someone's else's lives through their eyes I decided to try to meditate on it. I got sketchy results at first, but then one of my guides said "know who you are" and a flood of images hit me. Through a few regressive trances I was able to piece together at least 4 past lives (or what I can make out to be past lives). I am temped to look into trying to access Akasha for more info on the past, but not something I'm concentrating on atm.

I don't think we are meant to dwell on past lives and what we acomplished in those lives. I think that when they come up we should use the information, but not dwell on it. I am me. This life is me. I have had other lives, but they were not me as I know me.

The knowledge of the past may help explain things of this life or even show you if you are learning from past mistakes or not wink

I'm not saying that information about our past lives isn't important. It is. The lessons we learn each life help us to evolve to the next level spiritually. However there are lessons to be learned in this life and those are the lessons we should be focusing on.

The purpose of the material plane is to give the spirit the full range of experiences that can be learned only in this plane. So, since the full range of experiences cannot be learned in a single life (You can't experience being murdered, die of natural causes, commit suicide, etc... in one life, can you?) So, to make it further up the astral ladder, one must first learn these experiences, and thus is my belief on why reincarnation is important.

As for past lives, I don't see a reason for learning them, rather than wanting too. The experiences you've learned are still learned, just not always consciously there, and that each new life is programmed to learn a specific set of experiences.

Now do you think we choose the lessons to learn in each life or do the Gods choose the lessons for us?

Astral ladder... what do you mean by that? Do we ascend to a higher state of being after we learned our lessons?
