calisto can make plushies . . . and i can sculpt, say if one of us were to open a shop . . . for the time being this is hypothetical

question 1 what do you think could actually be charged for such an item, a physical 3d avi/oc "art" ?

question 2 what would be a safe way to deal with the transactions ?

question 3 what would be a safe/smart way to get the buyer the actual physical item ? without violating T.O.S. since I'd think cash payment could be misconstrued as paying for gold . . . but if it were a cash payment not for the art but the shipping . . . would that be a legal loophole . . . since the item is what the gold is for, while the shipping is what's necessary to get the item to the person in question.

if i end up with the cash and time to regain my sculpting skills . . . i'd like to explore this concept . . . but that's the future . . . and getting answers to questions and issues now would be smart . . .

I like the idea and I'd probably buy one but I've no idea how it would work legal wise...

It might be an idea to sell through a third party site, like dA or eBay, and just advertise on Gaia, if thats allowed. Talk to a mod about it first too. Make sure you wont get BanHammered™ for any dealings.

yeah as i think about it . . . if i did do that then i'd probly have to shell out the cash for the clay firings and glazes (which i already figured i would as that's the supplies just like drawing require supplies) . . . plus i'd probly shell out the cash for shipping to avoid a conflict of cash for gold . . . but damn . . . i'd have to make them soooo expensive then . . . cause that'd be sooo much cash i'd have to shell out . . . at least i wouldn't have to make many . . . well to get to a point where i'm going "WTF where'd all this gold come from?" . . .

the last finished sculpture i made ran me about 80-100 bucks . . . but i bought a Plexiglas case and made a silk lining . . . i think those additions were 40-50 bucksish . . . so that means the glazes, firings, and clay ran me 40-50 bucks could be a bit less i can't remember exactly . . . i could save cash buy buying a bulk assortment of glazes to use . . . that'd cut the cost down there . . . firing it still isn't going to be cheap though unless i save up and buy a SMALL kiln of my own which may not be a bad idea, i'm going to look at the prices for a small one . . . since the scultpures wouldn't be HUGE probly 7-9 inches tall . . . and yes i know there's manmade clay that doesn't require glazes or firing . . . but it just looks too fake . . . when clay is fired and glazed it has this beautiful shine to it . . .

pics of course would be taken and given to the person, so they don't have to wait for it to get to them . . . i guess i'd probly put a disclaimer type thing saying "since it's 3d physical art it requires i ship it to you for full enjoyment . . . " so they know i plan to ship it off . . . perhaps i could even add an "albeit expensive" option to have it encased and lined like i did my one sculpture . . .

a cheap kiln runs 600ish on ebay . . . so about the price of a decent laptop . . . that's not quite as bad as i thought . . . since i do like to sculpt it could be a wise decision to save up and get one once i get a good cash flow . . . and one that runs to about 1 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot . . . is 800-1k . . . so depending on what happens in the future . . . i'll decide then if it'll be a wise idea or not . . .

See thats the thing plushies (well the moogles) cost me about 4 dollars to make a avi plushie would be about 1o including post i guess. That just the materials they take about 5-6 hours to sew (by hand) and then making the clothes and item a extra 2-3 i guess. So if i charge for hours work as well i guess i'd charge 15 dollars

see i'm not talking about charging cash for anything except shipping . . . the work and supplies are equal to any artist's work and supplies it's just 3d versions . . . so the gold/items you request for the avi "art" would be a LOT . . . it's the shipping i'm wondering if should be extra cash or just compensated through an increase in the estimated gold price . . . so most artists on gaia use pens pencils paper computer programs etc. that costs money but MUCH less than what we'd do your materials instead of that stuff would be fabric needles and thread, mine would be special tools, clay, and glazes . . . and since these materials cost so much more the gold price would therefore need to be much higher than the typical art on gaia . . . or you could open up a custom shop on a seperate site and get cash for it . . . i'd like to be able to say xxxxx amount of gold or one of these items _____ . . . here on gaia that is . . .

see people have paid millions for geat digital art/paintings etc. that price as you look at it seems high, but really for what the item is it's fair to say it's decent, if not cheap . . .

I would pay like anything for one D:

Wait, which one of you is making plushies? xD

I've always wanted a plushie of my avatar. And would you do other characters outside of Gaia? I've been looking for a plushie artist forever...

calisto does the plushies . . . i sculpt but at the present time i have no materials . . . i decided i could basically have a thread to see how popular it may be, help me figure out how to make it work etc.

i pulled calisto into this though . . . since i was like oooh plushies . . . sculptures and plushies both have thier crowds plushies will have a larger crowd . . . sculptures (me) will have a smaller crowd . . . but i should be able to charge more . . . mainly because it will cost more . . . or i could learn to make plushies myself . . . hmmm my sister does sew . . . if i could get her to teach me i may just be able to do that . . . get a group of people who can sew plushies and start up a plushie shop . . . that'd be pimp . . .
