First, allow me to clear something up: I'm not talking about race, ethnicity, or nationality. Sometimes people refer to "culture" when they are talking about improving the mind, or expanding one's horizons to include art, music, etc.

I recently saw a performance of Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well at a local theater. I really enjoyed it. biggrin I haven't seen many of the Bard's plays, and I had never seen All's Well performed before. I recommend that all of you go to see a play or opera, ballet or poetry reading at least a half-dozen times in your life. 3nodding

Have any of you seen any of Shakespeare's plays performed live? What was the last ballet or play you did see? Were you forced to go or did you decide to go on your own?? xDD

Any suggestions as to what play I should try to see next?

I love ballet and opera. I only watch it on t.v., but I plan on seeing many plays, performances, and taking classes in the arts in college.
Shakespeare, ug. I personally think he's overrated, but his plots aren't that bad.
Have you ever thought about going to an orchestra performance?

Yes. I've been to several orchestra performances over the years. I used to play the viola, so I've been in some, too. =D

I have to disagree with you about Shakespeare, though. Have you seen any of his plays performed live??

My mother is a fanatic of Shakespear, so naturally I've read and seen a few plays. My favorite is Othello, though only because there is a moor in it.
I like seeing black people in the spotlight.

i saw 'twelfth night' as directed by my english teacher. he changed the setting to an american western... to me, it didn't work. i really like the play, even tho i don't like most of shakespeare's stuff.

i see a lot of plays cos my family loves going out to cultural events, and they belong to some theater funding group. most of them aren't that great in my opinion. i did see 'mahalia' with frenchie from 'american idol', she did pretty great in that. smile

I'm not really one of those 'cultured' people. The last play I saw was at my college, 'Over the Moon' or something. Or maybe it was Under the Moon...or To the Moon. I know Moon was in it.

Fine art isn't really that interesting to me. Like this one guy, Jackson Pollock I believe; it's paint splattered on a canvas. Really. I literally stared at my teacher in wonder as she explained how she had one hanging in her home, and just shook my head as she described the trouble she'd gone through to acquire it. I was even more awed by the proud look on her face.

Don't get me wrong, I think some of his paintings are rather interesting, but none of them are worth the price tag.

I can't help but think that people like that are idiots.
