I've found a pattern of opposites. Astrologists have long said that your opposite on the wheel is more like you than you probably think. I've noticed that this is because the "opposites" cover broad themes, while each individual sign specializes in one specific area of that theme. So, while the areas are "opposites," the overall theme is the same for both signs. Example:
Aries and Libra are opposites, and they both focus on the self.
Aries = the being (living as one is, the pure self)
opposite -->
Libra = the alter ego (creating a "better" self, and living as that person)
And it also seems that the first half of the zodiac focuses on the pure form of the ideal, while the second half specializes in the ideal's compounded form. Does that make sense? Am I going on an irrelevant tangent again? What are your thoughts?

But this seems a bit odd given that emotion is the drive of all water signs - scorpio's intense emotion and pisces' empathetic emotion seem relevant; moreso perhaps than capricorn's suppression. The same issue arises with Gemini/sagittarius - you give gemini 'thinking', which is applicable to both, but it's also supposed to be the domain of all air signs and could apply as well to aquarius or libra as to gemini. 'Power' I can see being applied to leo and in the flipped way you describe to aquarius, but it also seems very relevant to aries, taurus, and capricorn at least. That said, it's still a very interesting idea, and I think the description you give for scorpio/taurus works quite well. There may be general themes that apply in different ways to each set of opposites, but what they might be might take further investigation. Well I kind of had something slightly blahed but here is what I found about the opposites similarity
Aries - Libra = Self~ they both seem to concentrate on the self. Though they also concentrate on relationships if you think about it. Aries are always trying to be that hero to their partner, while Libras are putting on that deodrant for that 'special person'. They both seem to need to either do themselves for the person or for themselves...
It's pretty hard to say how they are both concentrating on the self... it isn't meant to sound like an insult, but saying Aries just like themselves and Librans are vain is the only blunt way to say it... but that's the harsh way, there is a nicer way. Because not all Libra's are vain and not all Aries are arrogant. They just want themselves to be themselves ... mostly for their partners though... or for confidence sakes...
Tauras - Scorpio = Possessions~ (I would put sex but you may disagree totally haha) but they do seem to want to possess something, objects, or people. Though I may have to say sex... Both love sex a lot. Tauras is in Venus and is in fact a sensual sign so more sensual than the Libras that share the Venus charm. Scorpio is the sign that isn't a sex craving prat but just generally interested in the sensuality in recieving a partner... They are both nice really even if they are sensualists in the fine arts of love. They won't go looking for sex (well not Tauras anyway) they will just enjoy it a lot.
Gemini - Saggittarius = knowledge~ They both seek knowledge, but in different ways. Actually sometimes the same way. They may both go on the internet to look for it xD. But yeah, Gemini's pick it up verbally while Sagi's from books. They use it for different things.
The Gemini's will spread it to others of course, verbally maybe, but remember so will Sagi's, they usually become teachers (funny enough) but they also use it to help themselves. Gemini's sometimes use it to help themselves but they usually do it to help others... or to help themself in arguements... >.> ouch.
Cancer - Capricorn = Family~ Both these signs concentrate on the family, I've noticed this a lot. I see you guys thought emotions but they seem more like the family signs. Like Cancers the mother and Capricorns the father... How I figured that part about Capricorn is the fact I read my capri moon in a book and it said that they may have an authority figure in their life- probably the father, then will try to impress that figure when older. So yes think of it like that. (They do seem like father signs)
Leo - Aquarius = Social~ Leo's are outgoing and so are Aquarius... They both seem to love having friends... Though Leos are slightly warmer while Aquariuses are a bit more detatched and they have different types of friends... but they are still similar in that sense!
Virgo - Pisces = Creating~ Now I found this one pretty tricky, but I've noticed that they seem to both like creating something whether from the head or from a cook book and cake mix. They will create something to give either to themself or to others... Therefore being the serving for Virgo and believing for Pisces... Pisces create a lot of imaginative thoughts, they may do a lot of painting with it. It's still creating~

It's still creating~ I think your capricorn and cancer description works well, particularly since cancer is said to be the sign of the mother and capricorn the sign of the father. Your Taurus/Scorpio one seems to work quite well too - taurus more with material things and scorpio more with people, although taurus can be possessive of people too. Aries/Libra seems to make sense too, although there seems to be a definite non-self component to libra - the objectivity, the capacity to maintain balance precisely because they can see the situation from another person's perspective. I'm a bit worried about Gemini/Sagg, Leo/Aquarius and Virgo/Pisces, though. Knowledge is relevant to both Gemini and saggitarius, but also to scorpio (obsessive seeker of knowledge), aquarius (whose motto in one of my books is 'I know') at least. Social can make sense as leo/aqu's thing, particularly since aquarius is supposed to be the sign of friendship, but again I think this is too general - sociability is supposed to be an attribute of all fire and air signs. As for virgo and pisces - I think there are too many 'creative' signs for this to work. Pisces is traditionally very imaginative, and virgo may be creative, but so is leo; libra is aesthetically creative, aquarius is inventive, gemini could be said to be creative communicatively...and so on. eroshiyda Ya, I put Aries and Libra as an example in my first post 3nodding I know, I have it slightly wrong... Ah, there it is. *head/desk* I'm not saying yours are definitely wrong, I'm just concerned that some of them are still a little general. As for how I would categorise them...I'm really not sure. I can see 'possession' working for taurus/scorpio and I like 'family' or 'parenthood' for cancer/capricorn, but the others I'm really not sure on.

As for virgo and pisces - I think there are too many 'creative' signs for this to work. Pisces is traditionally very imaginative, and virgo may be creative, but so is leo; libra is aesthetically creative, aquarius is inventive, gemini could be said to be creative communicatively...and so on.

Virgo and Pisces~ I was saying creating... They both seem to serve some form of giving.
Aquarius and leo~ What I meant was they are the signs that seem to want to socialise the most... Have you noticed that the others may be social but are not so interested in making a lot of friends like Aquarius and Leo.
The two seem to be the easiest to go up to and generally easiest to make friends with.
Sagi's and Aries are social but they are sometimes a bit 'hard'. The Aries will concentrate more on the self and so will the Sagi's... Leo's too but they still seem to look more at having a larger group of friends...
Now Gemini's and Libra's are also guilty with being harder to go up to...
Now even though Gemini's like making friends they also like losing friends... and Libra's are also friend making but are hard to go up to sometimes because they can be quiet. They also look more at the partners.
The Gemini and Saggi~ The point of them being about Knowledge is the fact that they seek knowledge in similar things... Scorpios only seek knowledge about themselves... or other people... and Aquariuses don't seem to go deep into topics, they will look at a bit of everything... just to know it... Which is why Gemini and Saggittariuses are the main point of the target.
The Libra part of the self is that they are self liking because some will suffer from Vanity. But this is usually to look nice for their partners but this is still a self thing... Also Aries are partner orientated too since they also look on for being the hero of a partner so said in descriptions.
Other signs may share some of those qualities but they are still not the same as the two signs share.
The Pisces and Virgo one was the hardest but the main thing for them was that they both give eachother a product.
I don't know what else the two signs could possibley share that makes them different from other signs... maybe the fact they don't have something? But that would be something =P

eroshiyda TheLyelac1 This is probably true ina way that the opposite signs complete each other lke in the sign mottos the opposite signs' mottos being opposite but correlating. Like the first half of the zodiac being personal and the second half being transpersonal. Like so :
Aries - I am :a person
Taurus - I have :a gift/responsibility
Gemini - I communicate :I speak waht I know
Cancer - I feel : to know myself
Leo - I create :for myself
Virgo - I serve : (forgot what I was gonna put here)
Libra - I weigh my actions as a person in society
Scorpio - I control how my gift/responsibility effects others
Sagittarius - I philosophize : I expound on what I know
Capricorn - I master :my feelings so they do not effect me in the world
Aquarius - I universalize :I spread creation through the world
Pisces - I believe : ( forgot what I was gonna put here) Ya, that's how I put it together, too. Mine is slightly different, but essentially the same. Taurus and Scorpio = possession Taurus = having (taking pleasure in the simple things) --> Scorpio = desire (wanting of things not had, and doing anything to get them) Gemini and Sagittarius = comprehension Gemini = thinking (being cognizant/aware of everything) --> Sagittarius = metacognition (knowing about knowing, understanding and manipulating what is known for an advantage) Cancer and Capricorn = emotion Cancer = [removed](wearing the heart on the sleeve, so to speak) --> Capricorn = impression (suppression of emotions so that they don't take over, while being overly conscientious of the feelings of others) Leo and Aquarius = power Leo = domination (demanding power from people) --> Aquarius = relinquishment (giving power to people in hopes of respect in return) Virgo and Pisces = acceptance Virgo = conformity (hoping to be accepted by everyone) --> Pisces = evolution (transforming in such a way to inspire others to change) I don't think Aquarius so much as wants power...
