I wasnt sad about Light dying just how he died. I mean seriously. To me it seemed like they got tired of doing the series and just tried finishing it.

i think it's very realistic and ironic how Light died. Although I liked the anime version better... Because it just tells you that even though Light proclaimed himself a god. He is still only a human, who underwent a process of psychosis and delusion.
I was mad that L died, even though it was probably nescessary to the story. But still I loved his character. But all this is just my personal opinion.
Believe me, I think they did put a lot of thought to Light's death. I mean, they even gave him flashbacks for crying out loud.
