I have no idea why, but this is something I've always been interested in. Differen things have different names depending upon where you live. Here's my example. Where I live we call it a pop. Some people call it soda. Well what do you call it?

Mostly I call it about 60/40 soda/pop with a few uncounted soda-pops tossed in. And soft drinks seldom enough not to be bothered with a number.

Around here, pretty much everyone says soda. Some say soda-pop. Very few actually call it pop. I just stick with soda.

depends on where you are I guess, around here its usually called pop or Coke. I used to call it pop, which led to some interesting events. I was in Boston for a conference and I asked someone where the pop machine was, as I walked away someone was like, whats a pop machine, did she mean a soda machine? I was meaning a vending machine that sold the 20ounce bottles of pop. But this chick had no idea was pop is. Now saying Pop just sounds weird as hell to me, I call it soda now

soda is soda and no one can change it. that's how I view it.
