The reason for the holla-hoop ring was now evident with the way it spun and swayed as gusts wind took ahold of it, making it more unpredictable. The goal was to launch the round so it flew through the ring itself, which now had Ali aiming and waiting for the most opportune moment.
It danced away in almost a taunting manner as Ali almost pulled the trigger on several occassions but halted when the window of opportunity slammed shut, You had wind strength to consider, trajectory, how many seconds it would fly before it reached the ring, his own breathing and stability. It all had to be taken into consideration on the single shot.
Dirt, sand and shrubbery went into the air seconds after Ali had pulled the trigger, a loud thundering sound, a brief display of both flames and heat along with the rumble of the shockwave going through the ground. Though Ali gave a frown as he turned back to the stump, looked like the ring had brushed against the round. Either the sight was off or he had pulled it a little to the right when he launched the round. Easier to blame the sight, easier to check aswell.
Still no impatient word from Crow or that oaf of hers about my answer to their offer, I'm starting to think they've used the opportunity to run off. , He'd give a small smile as he pushed the barrel locking latch again, letting the empty casing fall out as he turned it halfways upside down. Then closing the breech with a flick of his right wrist. Might send you out to track them down for me.
