I was in a cymbal line with a guy who I could not stand! So, I figured that everyone has at least one *cough*retard*cough* in their group. So, let it all out here! Tell stories, or just rant your heart out!

We can call them.... Bob, just for the sake of you not having to waist space with their name.

Bob is younger than me and thinks he knows everything because he has been in concert music for all his life! He has the nerve of telling me I have crappy marching when he steps off on his right foot!

I have two. They switch off. This one girl really wants to be snare when she plays bass. Me being a snare player, I take that into offense. She is not gonna take my position. She has bass for a reason. The snare is mine! But some days she's not so bad. And there's another guy that thinks thats he's amazing at the mallets, but he's not. He'll pull out a book that's the Wizard of Oz rewritten for bells and he'll say, "I warm up with this everyday in jazz band." Then he'll play it and he sucks. Just because you play that, doesn't mean you're good. And he has so much "school spirit" it's almost deadly. Not even the cheerleaders have that much school spirit. It is so annoying. In pep band he'll tell the brass that they need to be more enthusiastic when they're not playing. Says the guy that is listening to Sweeney Todd when he doesn't have to hold the symbols for me. AAAHH!

Sorry for the rant.

Well, my situation isn't...nice. You see, my friend is in fact "bob". She's a bass player and she thinks that she can be snare instantly after eigth grade! I don't know about you guys, but it's been a tradition that -unless an emergency- we DO NOT have freshmen snares!!! I even had to wait! But now it's my turn and this new director is changing everything up and he's putting two snares when we are in a desperate NEED for basses!! And she's extremely proud, always playing snare beats on the bass and talking about "when we're snares together" I love her to death, but the girls' got to learn the rules!!!

[i feel so out of it ranting about this considering you're all drumline and im colorguard but oh well] So there were many a "bob" in our group...one of them, fortunately, switched over to the band BUT still had the nerve to act like he's better then me. He switched to tenor sax [and can't play it to save his life] while in concert band plays bass clarinet. I play clarinet, not bass, and he had the nerve to tell me that I'm JEALOUS OF HIM BECAUSE HE CAN PLAY AN OCTAVE LOWER THAN I CAN!!!!!!! Uhm, excuse me, but last time I checked it's natural for a BASS clarinet to go lower! And besides, IS THAT WHY YOU'RE ASKING ME HOW TO PLAY NOTES WE LEARNED IN FIFTH GRADE?????[we're freshman by the way]. Ugh...
Then there was this girl in guard who seemed to always act like my mother. Well, she didn't act like MY mother, but it was the way one would think of a mother acting, and she directed it toward me. She was only an alternate, and ended up being in the band for someone who wasn't there, but I can't stand how she treated me! Everyone else loved her but I didn't!...Then she quit the band to go play field hockey. [eighth grader]
The next girl I couldn't stand was another eighth grader. Go figure. So, this girl did things wrong and acted like she was better then me. Honey, if you did them right you'd be taking a while to learn them too. One part we were supposed to be down at the bottom cheater on our flag [if you don't know what that is i opologize] and swing it up over our head so it was straight up with one hand and then swing it around so that it was at right flat. SHe wouldn't put it up. She kept it sort of on this angle down behind her because IT HURT. SUCK IT UP AND GET OVER IT, YES IT'S GOING TO HURT IF YOU SMASH YOURSELF IN THE STOMACH INSTEAD OF STOPPING IT WITH YOUR HAND BUT COME ON NOW WE ALL KNOW THAT SHUT UP AND GET OVER IT...Then she somehow was under the impression that she was kicked out for missing too many practices, which would have been if she missed one more. She complained about missing things like going to the movies or the beach because she had band. SO DID THE REST OF US there IS a reason they say marching band is your liife! So on her last day at practice [she quit after that] she purposely screwed up everything she did. KIll me now...
Then there was this dude that was really good, and he knew it, but he was just annoying. He didn't like to listen to anyone and did his own thing. He'd gotten a lot better with it by the end of the season, so it's not as bad. And next year he's doing football instead. Haha.
Sorry about the superlong rant...

no problem at all. ^.^
a lot of people have ego issues, don't they?

my god yes! ok so i believe he joined our marching band last year...and alreadyhe was a pain in the a**. He so lazy, he's rude, and he doesn't know how to play anything. what really ticks me off is always blames things on other people. we tried asking our bd to kick him off, but of course he didn't listen -_-'' argh! everyday takes off his bass drum and just leaves it on the floor! and everyday he makes a remark on how gay i am and crap. i really can't stand him... that's all, lol.

Ugh. ONE?

Try about 20. Or more, I don't feel like counting.

Most are from just school in general -_-

But three are percussion idiots who I dislike 'cause they dislike me.
Not my fault that I've got three things going against me in this business...
I'm smart
I'm good
and I'm a girl.

Tep. We got one. His name is Brannon and he's in 8th grade, no one likes him. He's very obnoxious and is on the verge of getting kicked out of concert band. I slapped him today. Left a red mark. Im proud.

i'm on color guard and i know how ya'll feel. there's this one girl who annoys the crap out of me and for the sake of a name i'll use "bob".

so last weekend (the 23) we went to pennsicola fl for a regional comp. we get there just fine. go through warm up and we get set up and everything just like we would normally do. but after setting up we had to wait for a minute or two because our instructor forgot to get the music. this was her first time taking us to a comp by herself. normally we have either one or both of our other instuctors with us but one just had a baby and the other was in connetticut judging. so after we perform we feel like we did a great job. after packing everything up we go and see our score. we got a 65.3. it was a pretty decent score especially since we were competing in A class when we're in AA. later i find out that because our music was later, we got docked 5 points! 5 POINTS!!!!!!!! i could understand 1 or 2 points but 5 is just ridiculous. so anyway, we go and refold the floor and while we were folding the floor, "bob" is saying some not nice things about our instructor and how it was her fault that we got docked 5 points. now you have to understand that it wan't completely her fault. anyone of the parents who came with us could have had a copy of the music with them. so "bob" was saying how it was the instructors fault and i said it wasn't and then she said "then whose was it" and i said "it was all of ours" then one of the other girls said "it wasn't our fault" and i just kind of ingnored that comment and went on to say "if your going to say stuff about (insert instructors name here) then i'm going to say something about it" and she said "well, i don't need your attitude" and i said "well, i don't need your attitude." i just annoyed the crap out of me that she was blaming the instructor for something that wasn't all her fault

this is just the most recent thing that has happend but there have been many more encounters kind of like this. another example is when "bob" is doing something wrong on the flag and you try to tell her how it's supposed to be done, she blows up on you. she thinks she's perfect and doesn't need to be corrected. it annoys me. i just hope she doesn't become captain after i leave.

sorry about it being so long.
