The heavyweights of rock, the masters, the gods, Iron Maiden.
I love these guys something fierce. Anyone else seeing them on their current Aussie tour?
I'm seeing them on Wednesday night AND Thursday night!!! Hell yeah!!!

This is just what I wrote on my Live Journal-
[Mood| holy ******** yeah man ] [Noise| Rime of the Ancient Mariner- Iron Maiden]
Iron Maiden, oh my god, Iron Maiden. Oh my god. Iron Maiden, oh my god.
Seriously.
I was in a seat for the first show. That didn't matter. I could see, everyone stood, the crowd was so loud and it was just awesome! Before the first show we saw Sam Dunn (who made Metal: A Headbangers Journey) at the Corner Hotel having a drink with his cameras and some lackeys, filming fans before the show. He's on tour with Maiden, the p***k! I could see him walking around behind the set during the first show. I might be on his new DVD drinking at the Corner with my mates razz
Second show was amazing. I was in the pit, second from the front (I was wedged in between the two guys at the front, so it was like... I was one-half of a person away from the front) by the end of it. Me and Will were to the left, in front of Dave Murray. He was cool as a cucumber. Wow.
Janick Gers pointed at me! ME!!!!! The people to my left were cheering to Steve Harris, the people to my right were cheering at Bruce Dickinson and Janick was in front of me and I was cheering at him and he pointed at me! Then he pointed at himself in a false modesty kind-of way and continued to rock the ******** out. It was pretty funny biggrin
Bruce. Bruce Dickinson.
I ♥ Bruce. He's the man. He was energetic as a ********. He was jumping and running around the stage like a monkey! It was awesome! "Scream for me, Melbourne!" The place went nuts. I went nuts. I loved it whenever he yelled that!
He had a few costumes. Like, he wore that mask when they did Powerslave, he wore a black cloak thing when they did Rime of the Ancient Mariner and he wore

that jacket (that was the backdrop, too) and had two flags when they did The Trooper. Bruce was ******** with Nicko McBrain a lot! When he had a flag and wasn't singing during The Trooper he dangled it in his face and over his drums and stuff! And during another couple of songs, Bruce was grabbing his symbols razz
I got an Eddie t-shirt ($55), it's awesome! Also got a hoodie ($100) which I'm wearing now and a tour t-shirt ($50). Photos of those will come.
I had the greatest time. It was so fantastic. I really don't think I could love Maiden any more right now. Maybe if I followed them to Brisbane...
Bruce said "It's been far too long, Australia. It will never be that long again!"

Well, I don't think I've ever really listened to them to be honest. I can't remember what they sound like, but I'm assuming they have a hair metal quality for some reason. I'm more into the heavier stuff, stuff that sounds more like Meshuggah, as well as Meshuggah, recently, nothing before their last three albums.

Actually Maiden are more about the POWAH! and the EPIC! they are the original power metal group, Dragonforce, Hammerfall and Sonata Arctica pretty much owe their existence to Iron Maiden. Why would you assume they sound like Def Leppard though?

I dunno, I just always stuck that sound to them for some reason. I don't remember what they sound like, and seeing as they're old, I just stuck the hair metal sound to them and called them lame. After recently listening to them again, I was right in saying that they are lame, in my opinion anyways. Not exactly hair metal, but not to my tastes at all. Not a power metal fan.

They might be old, but they put on a hell of a better stage show then alot of their contemporaries... they actually have a stage show. Well if you don't like them, you don't like them. I ain't gonna get in your grill about it, just so long as you acknowledge about 80% of modern metal owes its inception to Iron Maiden (as the leaders of the NWOBHM scene)
