It's not like it's a hard job that requires experience. |

Apparently, I need to be an expert to do that. |

In a small town, it's hard as hell to find a job.
But anyway. My mom and I both put in an application at the State Park, where she worked a couple years ago. She knew the woman taking the applications, and when I turned mine in, she handed it back to me. Apparently, I have to put something under experience even if I've never had a job before.
Why?
Because if there's nothing there, they throw it out. According to her, they did that everywhere she's ever worked.
What the fuzzballs?
How is someone supposed to get experience working when no one hires you because you have no experience? I'm not sure if I should laugh or be angry. I asked her that too. She never did answer me.
I ended up writing down odd-jobs I've gotten paid for, but I'm not sure if they really count. I guess it made the application look better though. neutral
Yeah, I just wanted to rant. Don't complain, you get a nice juicy poll. xd Any job-related problems you'd like to share?

or you can write down any volunteer work, thats what I did. I have a crappy job considering the pay, I'm pretty much a dishwasher 8 hours a day, 3-4 days a week for $7 an hour

I was lucky to have volunteer work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to put down under Job Experience. But I've never heard that employers will throw away applications over that. Thanks for the tip. I know some friends that are trying to get jobs. I can tell them this. smile

When I started I just had volunteer work at my moms school (years of it) and baby-sitting jobs. Then I worked 2 years at the state fair so I got to put that down. Fairs and seasonal stuff like that when/if they roll around near you are good to get a little pocket money and some work experience.
At least she was honest enough to hand it back to you so you could BS your way through it instead of just waiting till you walked out the door and chucking it. I did see that happen once. Guy turned in an application to a video store. The girl took it and tossed it in the trash soon as he left.

Exotic_Memories - I've only volunteered once, and that was at the same state park. So I put that down along with the two years I worked at a christmas breakfast thing the bank sponsored.
Well, it may be pretty crappy, but remember, it could always be worse. xp
Lady Ginkawa - Muscular Dystrophy Association? What kind of volunteer work did you do there?
I'd never heard that before either. It kind of upset me, but at the same time, I wanted to laugh at how stupid it was.
thedustyphoenix - Hm. I did do some work in a daycare helping watch the kids. I don't know what that has to do with handing out candybars, but I probably should have put that down. xd Heh, I remember everything when it's too late.
True. I'm glad my mom knew her, or otherwise she probably would have let me walk out and then threw it away.

its some laws that it is illegal for places to throw away applications , it has to stay in file, security reasons check your state law. Im older now so I know the woes your going thru, And now Im a massage therapist, but its hard to find a place where they dont work ya like a slave, good luck, if your town has a target i recommend them!!

I stopped cause I got married and then got pregnant right after. Now that Dylan is older I want to go back. And luckily the director loves me so... biggrin She'll love it that I want to come back.
