I can't believe they're taking RENT off Broadway after the way it's affected people and changed them. I know I'll still be obsessed long after it's gone off Broadway though and hopefully we all will. We can still bring it back. I suppose. Even though I'm sad, it's had twelve great years and done excatly what Johnathan Larson wanted it to. I really do believe he would be proud. I hope that it will keep going even off-Broadway and I know if it's still off whenever I get to go to New York I'll look for it.

I agree that this is sad and increadibly unfair.
But I aslo agree with what these two people said.

We are THE FANS. Now that RENT is going off Broadway it's up to us to keep RENT alive. We will keep it going in our hearts. I know that all over the world all of the millions and millions of fans will keep singing and dancing along with RENT and we are NEVER going to let it die. We can show the world just how much this musical means to us. And just how amazing it is. <33333

I found out on Wednesday. I was devestated. I'll never see the show on Broadway. What I'm most scared of is Jonny's memory dying. Goodbye RENT. Thank you Jonathan Larson.

even though it is closing on broadway, it could still be on tour, and the closing does NOT have to be permanent. Chicago closed for five years, before opening again, so there's hope, but nevertheless, i am still very sad crying

I just found out today. It's really sad. But, if you think about it, it's had a good run. It will be missed, but will go on in the hearts of the fans.

(SO glad I'm going to see it again in Febuary!)

You have a point. "Jesus Christ Superstar" came back on tour a couple years ago and it did great.

Don't get me wrong, I love RENT.

I'm a little upset that I never got to see it on Broadway, but I am glad it's closing.

I think a lot of people are really sick of it now.

I read somewhere that someone compared it to a sick old dog that everyone is tired of being around.

I agree in a way.

I love it, but I think it needs to go away for awhile and then come back, when there are a ton of new theatre fans around to appreciate it.

It will have a comeback, and it'll be a refreshing one.

One that RENT really needs.

Again: That's just my opinion. Don't crucify me or anything.

I just found out, and I'm quite depresses, really. I want to ask my dad to let me go on my own little pilgrimage to see it, but who knows.

All right! It looks like the tour will go on. The schedule goes on through June. Hopefully that means something good!

The fact of the matter is this: it was only typically selling out half the house and you cannot make money on a Broadway musical selling half the house. So it has to close.

Just because it's closing doesn't mean it's leaving the world I'm sure.

I heard the news a few weeks ago
I'm sad but the memory of RENT will go on in all of us
Its up to us to pass it on for future RENTheads and keep it around
I'm also kinda upset that I didn't get to see it on broadway
So I'll just try to catch them on tour before that ends too
It's my way of giving them a send off

Remember "No Day But Today"
Peace out fellow RENTheads heart
