Motoko sat gingerly amongst the boulders, being careful not to shift their position. She closed her eye and dug deep inside herself for the strand of black light flowing through her viens. Mentally catching onto a piece she threw it out of her body, and caught onto one of the boulders nearest herself. She brought it up into the air, almost up to her eyes, and began to add more rocks to it until it began to resemble another entity. "Walk" She commanded and by making slight twitches with her own muscles the rock creature began to walk about awkwardly. "Jump," She commanded yet again, but instead it began to walk off and suddenly Motoko felt a tug on her leg muscles and the rocks toppled over. "Shoot, I exceeded my range," she cursed to herself and lay down to rest for a bit, the trick tiring her. Taking deep breaths, a bird composed of rocks came and alighted next to her, pecking softly and Motoko's front paw. "What do you want you mangy bird? You are beginning to vex me, and I'm not afraid to pull you apart." The bird simply looked at her, and suddenly opened its mouth, and in a ghostly somewhat croaking voice it said, "I meant nothing by it mistress, but you know I would gladly eat your remains if you were ever to expire due to over stress..." Motoko snarled and waved her paw at the bird, that jumped out of the way just in time. "Scat you blithering pest, I do not need your comments..." She sighed as the bird flew back to its tree, and watched her with unseeing eyes.

Lance quietly moved through the forest, heading towards the clearing he saw soon up ahead. There were giant rocks of all shapes nearby and he could of sworn he had heard something that sounded big shifting over there. It had caught his interest and he had hopes of it being some giant creature that he could watch in curiousity from safe spot. After playing a game of hide and go seek for an hour with his sister, he had grown tired of the game and wandered off to follow the scent of food. Course, he had an awful sense of direction, so he decided to wander about and explore until he eventually found his way back like always.
His golden eyes looked around as he moved up closer to a boulder. A new challenge appeared to him. If he could climb these boulders maybe it would prove that he was strong enough to gain the reality of the any dream he wished to come into reality. Looking around, the young dragonfly soon found a smaller rock which he climbed onto. Crouching down on his hunches he took aim at the bigger one with his eyes. He leapt off the rock and smiled triumphantly. The older he got the better he seemed to be at succedding his goals. "I will be the strongest of the most powerful elder out there in no time..." He whispered to himself to cheer him on.
Cautiously, he leapt onto another boulder, this time almost slipping as he did so. After regaining his footing, Lance took a moment to look around. From his spot on the rock he could see much more than he had. A bird in a tree and... another dragonfly? But this one seemed different. Lance had never seen a female elder before. His eyes widened and his tail wagged. To him it seemed he had gained his wish. There was no hestitation from him in deciding what his next move was. He jumped down cautiously from the boulder and sneaked up further quickly. Whatever she was exactly... he knew he had to talk to her.

Motoko closed her eyes and the bird took flight once again. Her eyes remained closed, and she looked through the eyes of her bird and is soared not to far above her head. She looked down and saw a little black shadow hopping across the rocks and she sighed. Wonderful, now I'm about to be bothered by a snot nosed teen.
She moved her pet over to the teen and had it land by him. The bird opened its smoothly shaped rock beak once more and said in its gravely voice, "I hope you know what you're getting yourself into kid. Sneaking up on my mistress like you are. You're lucky I spotted you, or she would have knocked you half way across the forest of spying on her you little punk." The bird spread its wings and flew back over to Motoko, landing on her shoulder clacking its beak in Motoko's ear.

Lance opened his mouth to throw some questions at the strange bird. Seeing a bird made of stone only made him a ton more curious. If his mother or father were standing by him right at this moment they would probably tell him to turn around and do what was safe, but they weren't around. This was too big of a chance for Lance to throw away. "I don't care about danger..." He mumbled as if he were afraid to say that out loud.
Watching the bird fly off only reminded him of what direction the thing he had spotted was in. He slowed down to a walk as soon as he saw her, soon stopping completely. She was indeed a dragonfly. None like he had seen before, but something about her reminded him of something. "Hello... My name is Lance. I saw you from a distance and... I was wondering what exactlly are you? I know you're a dragonfly, but you seem to be the special sort," He blurted out boldly. He had to know.

Motoko snarled and stood up, uncoiling herself and rising high above the teen. She looked down at the black boy with a toothy sneer plastered on her face, as the bird on her shoulder clacked its beak. "You don't care about danger? What if that danger led to your death?" Motoko's eyes gleamed and her body tensed, as boulders around her began to shake and clatter, almost angrily. "I care not what you name is little boy. And I am an elder, and mind you, a female." The boulders about her rose in unison, creating two legged creatures that lurched lazily about the teen, boxing him in. "Now, haven't your parents taught you not to talk to strangers little boy?"

Lance gulped and took a step back. He was starting to consider taking a run for it, but he refused to back down now. It was cowardly and not something a future elder would do. Besides, any thought of leaving had been killed once he heard about what she was. "A.. an elder? Really?" His eyes widened up and a grin spread across his face. "Ooooh. You have no idea how long I've wanted to talk to one. And I'm aware you're a girl. Your bird told me, but.... w-what is he? He reminds me of rocks..." He smirked and snickered at the last question. "Of course, when I was little. But once you get older you have to make your own choice on who to talk to. If you don't you'll never meet anyone."

Motoko sneered turned into somewhat of a grin as the rock figures she made, crummbled and turned into wolf like creatures that began circling the boy, almost twice his size. "Your foolish bravery impresses no one child," she growled as her claws scraped the ground. The bird swooped from Motoko's shoulder and aimed for Lance's head trying to scrape the top of it with its sharpened claws when the boy snickered. "You think my pet is funny do you? And you've made the wrong choice today, the second you decided to walk up to me after my bird's warning." She snarled and leaned over examining the boy closer. She took a deep breath and thought, This boy seems to possess power... it is possible that he will become an elder one day, but I hope he doesn't get his hopes up... he might not live through the day if he doesn't find some way to entertain me...

Lance ducked down when the bird came at him. He certainly wasn't going to allow himself to get hurt now, though he feared he mostly likely would be by the end of this chat. "I'm trying not to impress... only trying to learn the ways of the elders. I wish to be one someday you see. I want to be strong. I can't do that by being cautious around elders now..." He glanced to the bird with the corner of his eye. After a moment he shook his head. "No.. it has to do with your power though. It must be! I just... never seen a bird like it and I want to know about it." He narrowed his eyes. This was just another challenge he had to face to accomplish his goal. Thats how he needed to think of this. If he ran away now he would never be an elder. "And what about you? You can't use your size to scare me! Show me something! Show me a reason for why I should be scared." Lance almost regreted his works the moment they came from his mouth.

Motoko laughed manically and leaned even further down as Lance spoke of how he wanted to become an elder, "Oh HO! So you are an elders little boy! And being cautious is a smart thing to be, if you are dealing with some one who obviously does not bode well for you." Motoko snarled as the bird landed back on her shoulder and frowned at the boy, "I will tell you only once, the bird is... a childhood friend. He has nothing to do with my powers. But they..." Motko motioned around herself, the rock wolves snapping their jaws, one or two of them howling in the same grainy voice as the bird. "They are part of my power, and you will soon see that my heart is as cold as the stones that make up their bodies. There are good, and bad elders out there child... and you are just asking to be made into a dead one... I'm not one to hold myself back because you are young and rash..." The bird rose from Motoko's shoulder, making a rucus and swooping off into the trees. In the same moment Motoko shot out her front paw and tried to grab onto the boy, the stone wolves now fully encircling both the elder and the teen. "But I will give you a chance, say something worth while for my wise years to listen to, not this worthless jabber you've been saying and I'll give you some info on being an elder... and possibaly let you go with... minimal... injuries...."

Lance let out a panicked yelp. He had not expected her to grab onto him like that. Now he no longer even had the option of running. For a moment he felt himself shiver at the knowledge he had no way of fighting back, but he stared at the elder, right in the eyes with his own golden ones. A fire seemed to burn within them. A one of determination. "Your powers are great and no.. my... parents are normal dragonflies. I am not promised to be an elder." His eyes softened for a moment at the reminder of what chances he had of gaining strength. "I did meet one once when I was smaller.. he attacked me kind of. I know elders can be bad." He narrowed his eyes. So he had only one shot did he? "If you want to hear something wise then why not my goal? I aim to prove that powers of an elder can be used for good and that when I become one I will only use my power if it is to help someone else. I plan to be a noble elder. So what about that?! Is that impressive enough or can nothing please your so called stone heart?" His voice became louder as he spoke. He didn't want to fight her or get angry. All he wished was for someone, no not someone, an elder to sit down and listen to his questions. Must he really argue with her like this?
(( =3 Lance is promised to be an elder one day for some reason, but not becuase of his parents. I forget the reason why Ami decided that though. X.x; ))

Motoko sighed and placed the pup down, she felt she had gone a bit too far. "Child I haven't killed a dragonfly before, and I'm not about to start with you. I don't want to hear about your noble cause, because there are already plenty goody good two shoes elders stalking around this forest. YOU'VE just had the bad luck, and obviously some amount of stubborn stupidity to have come across two ill-mannered ones in the same life time." She sighed and let go of the rock wolves, the boulders they were made of toppling over in place. She flopped onto the ground and her bird flew back to her shoulder. Motoko took a few deep breaths, a bead of sweat running down her face. She snarled at the pup, "As much as I hate to admit it, I've gone past my limit. I've no energy left to hurt you, so hurry up and ask your questions, one at a time please, before I get my energy back and decided to throw you around a bit again." She snapped her jaws angrily, but looked a bit dejected, as sher rested, regaining the life energy she had put in the boulder to make them move as they did.

Lance looked up at the other with a dumbfounded look. "Whaa? But you said- You sounded like you would..." He stopped himself and shook his head. Arguing with the other more was obviously not going to help his case. He sat down slowly and frowned a bit to realize he was shaking a bit. Shaking in fear or anticipation, he couldn't tell which. "Fine. I'll ask quickly, but that doesn't mean I want your answers to be quick. I need a bit of detail for some of them," He blurted out boldly. Sometimes he wished he thought more before he spoke.
"I want to know... how did you become an elder? If it wasn't because of your birth rights to having elder parents, please tell me how." Lance said, this time carefully choosing his words. This question was most important to him. If she refused to answer, this little meeting might be worth nothing to him.

Motoko watched Lance with a gleam in her eye, and growled at his first comment, "I take orders from no one child! Keep a civil tounge in your head, and show at least some sort of respect because I don't really need to be so nice right now, I'm holding back with all my strength and if you make me snap by saying something stupid, which you often do, its not going to be pretty...." She snarled showing her teeth and the possibility that he could wind up between them.
Motoko sighed, calming down once more and listened to his question. "My parents were not elders, well.... at least they weren't when I was born, though one of my grandparents might have been... anyways the point is I was not promised to become an elder by birth. And also, mind you, becoming and elder doesn't just happen over night. You don't just do something special and wake up the next three times your size with extraordinary powers. I always felt a special connection to earth, and found that that was my domain. As I grew older, I also figured out that with a strong enough connection to your domain, you can unlock a power that is souly yours. Now as you begin to connect more to your domain, you begin to grow in mind and spirituality. After many long... well years for me... I also began to grow physically to match my new found wisdom. I soon mastered the basics of my powers, and was on my way to perfecting them when I felt I was done growing into what you see me as right now. Now i'm not saying you should get up tomorrow and start trying to make flowers grow or freeze water... not none of that. First you must grow in physical and mental poweress, and if you end up not irking me to badly today, though you've had a very bad start, I will go completely against every single belief in my nasty body and offer to train you a little." Motoko sighed and growled snapping a bit her tail lashing. Why the hell did I say that last part... I don't need the little squirt around! Well... if he is looking to become and elder someday, I might as well not make any future enemies... not that I care... oh what the hey, I'm out of it... that explains it! I've lost it, I've finally gone mad... thanks puppy... thanks.... Motoko adapted a face of even further resignition and snorted, rolling her eyes at herself.

Lance ears folded down for a moment. He really should of spoken nicer since he had finally convinced her to tell him the answers to what he needed to know. Perhaps it was the fact that they both started out with bad attitudes towards each other that made him blurt out things stupidly.
Lance listened with ful attention, nodding his head to every word she said. He jumped at the last thing she said and grinned happily. "You... You'll train me? You really will?" He could hardly believe what he was hearing. Perhaps the elder was a lot nicer than he gave her credit for. "I, I promise to be good! I shouldn't of spoken to you like that earlier. I just get a bit competitive sometimes I guess. I promise! I'll work hard, teacher!" His tailed wagged behind him and he stared up at the female elder with admiring eyes rather than the angry ones he had before. His opinion of her seemed to had changed just like that. Really, he could be quite easy to please if offered the right thing.
(( *laughs a little at Motoko's thoughts* XD Poor Motoko.... gone mad because of little old Lance... ))

(( *giggles* She doesn't really like others, but she figured out that the fastest and most profitable to her way of getting rid of Lance was to help him out...))
Motoko lifted her head and glanced down at the puppy with one eyebrow raised. "Calm yourself child, if I even doubted for a second that you wouldn't work hard, I wouldn't have even offered to train you at all. Why I'm going to help you, I still don't really understand myself, but right now we are working for YOUR self satisfaction, not mine. I don't want your dreams to get muddled with mine got it?" She sighed and hefted herself to her feet with a groan. She looked down at the teen and blinked, then with swift ease she picked him up by the scruff and put him on her head. "You'll come to find that I'm not a bad dragonfly, I just have a temper. Ok, so to start, three steps of become strong enough to become and elder. Well not really steps, but parts that you need to work on to get up to par; strength in you physical self, strength in your mental control, and strength in your domain. Basically, that is what you get when you are a elder, so to become and elder you need to practice those things. Got it? Good..." Motoko began to climb up the wall of boulders with a startling pace as her bird flew over head.
