Ok, so in my marching band, it's been proven that if you're a flute or piccolo, you have an automatic need to hang with drummers. I don't know what it is, but of last years four piccollos, one had a former major crush on a drummer, and the other two dated snares. I think it's a conspiracy... but does any one else's band have this problem... I guess you could call it?

It's like that at my school... trust me, I know from experience...
I'm the piccolo/flute student instructor, and most of my friends are percussionists. To date, I've liked 3 of them biggrin

The basses out of 4 only one of them is dating and he's dating a guard girl. Out of the 2 girls in the bass line on is a lesbian.

Not true, here in Killeen Tx. the Drum Line is HUGE thing. And almost no one can really talk to them without seeming "needy".
The Color Guard however.....lol

I'm a flute/piccolo player of almost 6 years who switched to percussion. Now I am studying to be a music major. In percussion.
So yes. It is like that at my school too. Except all the flute players who don't swoon over the drummers/percussionists switch to saxophone, mellophone and bassoon. Most of those who switch do all three.

But not as much as flute/piccolo pairings with drummers.

I don't think our flute players even talk to the drumline. o_o They're like complete opposites. But drumline and auxillary, that's a different story. Those sections ONLY talk to each other and barely anyone else.
