i like Lilith by George MacDonald.
it's more than a century old, i believe; he influenced Tolkein and C.S. Lewis.
it's very mythical; Lilith was the first vampire, according to Hebrew legend; she vied with Eve for Adam's attention.
another fine epic by him is Phantastes.
they should be public domain; you might be able to find them online for free.

I've only really read a few books by Anne Rice, but I'm sure if you're into vampire books you would have read her already...

ummm interveiw with a vampire is good..and i also read a book called Blood mist..it's about a horned vampire demon thingy..

i got Sunshine by Robin McKinley for Christmas.
she's a terrific author, and the book is exciting and fuuunny!
and vampirical or whatever
