the extent of the japanese I remember from school is "Hello. My name is Ashley. I am a sheep. I ate the cat. It was delicious"
...okay. A little more than that, but thats the set I'm most confident about. My friend started teaching me before i took the class, and thats what he taught me, and it kinda stuck.
I then proceeded to memorize that set in french, which I also studied in high school, and german when I took that in college.... sweatdrop So, I can say incredibly useless phrases in a few languages. It will do me a lot of good, I'm sure. ^-^

watashi wa neko o tabemashita. or simpler is just neko o tabemashita, and still correct, s'far as I've learned....my teacher had us use 'watashi' as little as possible.

I guarantee nothing, since I'm crap at all three of these languages, but as far as I've worked out the phrase goes:

konnichi wa. watashi no namae wa ASHLEY desu. hitsuji desu. neko o tabemashita. oishii desu. - japanese

Bonjour. Je m'appelle Ashley. Je suis un mouton. J'ai mangé la chat. Ils etait deliçieux. - french (forgive my spelling and accents...I haven't written french in nearly five years and can't remember it quite on...)

Guten Tag. Ich heiße Ashley. Ich bin ein Schaf. Ich habe die Katze gegessen. Sie war lecker. - german.

anyone who knows these languages feel free to correct me. I didn't study any of them at great length except for french, which I have just quite frankly forgotten in five years of completely not using it.

... Romaji irks me. Sorry. I think anyone who's learning the Japanese language should take the time to learn to read it, too. For this thread, though, when we assume people don't know how to read, though, I suppose it's a necessary evil.

This is my personal favorite. I don't know plain past tense, though, which is depressing. When I don't have to be formal, I have no intention of being so. It takes too long.

Because Kenji did not eat red people on wednesdays when he was a child, Kenji is not here. I ate him.

Kodomo no toki no suiyoubi ni Kenji san ha akai hito wo tabemasendeshita kara, Kenji san ha koko ni imasen. Watashi ha Kenji san wo tabemashita.

子供のときの水曜日にけんじさんはあかい人をたべませんでしたから、けんじさんはここにいません。私はけんじさんをたべました。

わたしはロマジがすきじゃない。

I can't get my computer to work using the symbols. I've been trying to get it to for nearly ever now (that equals nearly 1.5 years, for the record :2nod smile
believe, I'd use kana if I could, cuz I prefer it too.

Romaji's just... hard to read, if you're used to kanji and kana.

What OS do you run?
