Ok, this is about a hockey game, and most of you probably won't care, but it was one hell of a game. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen scoring this high.
Anyway, earlier this evening, the Tampa Bay Lightning (14-14-3, 2nd place in their division, 10th place in conference) faced off against the Calgary Flames (13-13-5, 4th in their division, 11th in conference) at their home stadium and played one a back and forth game but in the end, the Lightning lost 9-6.
The reason I'm pointing this out is because it is uncommon for an NHL Team to score 6 or more points in a single game (although it is becoming a little more common).
However, to make Fyora feel a little bit better about her home team (Florida has two Hockey Teams), the Florida Panthers defeated the St. Louis Blues 1-0 tonight as well. Oh and Vincent Lecavalier of Tampa Bay is the current leader in points (Goals+Assists) for this season.

I think I heard about that...
And the Tampa Bay Lightning are more my home team than the others, because I'm only 1.5 hours away from Tampa Bay, and I don't even know where the Florida Panthers are supposed to be from.
What's hilarious about at least the Tampa Bay Lightning, is that I'm pretty sure none of them were born in Florida. xd

Currently, the Lightning are last place in their division and conference, 29th in the league (out of 30 teams) and have won only 2 of their last 10 games. In other words....they've really been struggling lately.
Also, you are right.....none of the players are from Florida, hell only 5 players on the entire team are actually from the US.
However, if it's any consolation. Vincent Lecavalier (Center for the Lightning) is currently leading the league in points (Goals+Assists) with 56 points. Also, the Lightning did win the Stanley Cup back in the 2003-2004 season

[I also thought it was hilarious that we won, being from Florida and all. I'd love to attempt to play hockey myself...I can ice-skate decently, I think, actually. biggrin Despite being born and raised in Florida. I can't roller blade though, which is hilarious.]

Yes, the year after the Lightning won the league had the infamous lockout. However, the lockout was mostly due to labor disputes, but some minor rule changes were made during the lockout.
Currently the team with the most Stanley Cup Victories is the Montreal Canadians with 23. The Toronto Maple Leafs are next with 13 and then it's the Detroit Red Wings with 10.
I'd love to play Ice Hockey as well, but I need to learn to skate first.

(Because you need MAJOR air conditioning for it down here.)

They should thaw over the weekend so if you want to practice it's off to the rink.

If you plan on going to visit anything in or near Washington D.C. you should take the Metro, it would be a lot easier and faster than driving.
