Well i havent finished the game yet, so im just going on what ive seen. I dont think that theres any romance there. I think they're just really good companions. Fran is very much a no nonsense kind of Viera, and Balthier likes his freedom. I think they suit each other very well as travelling partners, but i dont think there's any romance

Exactly what she said. I don't think they're romantically involved (but they might have tried it). There's only really one scene in the game where you could make a case for romance (near the end, in the Pharos), not counting when Fran goes Mist crazy and Balthier remarks that he knew she didn't like being tied up (that fact that he asks Ashe right after if she likes it tends to make one believe that there's nothing between Balthier and Fran, otherwise he'd probably've had a pointy heel in his face).
I'd bet they're really good friends, though, and perfect business partners for each other.

Oh that's the question i thought it was a favoritism poll. Oh well in my personal opinion they seem to be as said before there freinds wih benefits. very good benefits as i presume. there pretty much mutaul benafactors who help each other to achieve their goals and while there at i they probably take advantage of the situation.

They rarley ever show affection or even admiration thoughout the game.
(for most of it you can barley tell they know eachother)
but it's possible they are trying to hide they have something going on?
like a professional-work relationship.

I think they were once something more than friends, possibly even in a relationship together, but during the course of the game deffinately not. Or perhaps they have something together the whole time and just have a very open relationship. I'm sure Fran realized that she couldn't take the flirt out of Balthier a long time ago.

I can see their relationship being either sexual or platonic, but not necessarily romantic. Clearly they are very close and understand each other very well, and also accept each other. Perhaps they've had sex, but I don't think their relationship is exclusive. Balthier seems too free-spirited for that and I doubt Fran cares much for romance (and if she did, Balthier wouldn't be her type). I don't think their relationship has to be romantic or sexual to be meaningful. I still love their partnership either way.
