I couldn't think on a good topic but this has something to do with being healthy. Every time I turn on the television, there is always a commercial talking about weight loss. I'm saying to myself, is this what people want in there life, to be thin and healthy, but what is healthy?

Healthy is like when your body is in a good condition, and is in a good body and state. Some people that are over weight really don't need to be so skinny, because it signifies that they are not proud of what they are, if you are not proud of you are, then why did you become that way?

I'm skinny and I am not healty, I eat ALOT of junk food. So why am I'm not fat, I don't exercise, all I do is play the video game and eat and go to sleep.

So, is going on a diet the right thing or the wrong thing?

But now... Squall, you're the one who gives me the most comfort.
Comfort and happiness... And annoyance and disappointment, too!

You can't really state if dieting is wrong or not. It's an individual's choice to diet, and it doesn't matter what their reason is.

I myself see nothing wrong with dieting, except for expensive it is to diet.

And besides, there are a lot of people who actually diet because they want to be able to do more things without becoming tired, and/or they want to become more heathy.

The main point about this is diet scams. I was trying to say, that some of these scams out here are taking advantage of some of these people and it is ridiculous.

I agree. A diet is seen always as to lose weight, but by true definition, its just what you are eating, even eating unhealthy is considered a diet.

A healthy diet is whats best. My dad thinks if you're skinnier than someone else, you're healthier. And that seems to have become common thinking to everyone in the world. That skinny is good.

But healthy foods and exercise, that is the route to take.

Speaking as a person who is fat, but eats healthy, healthy eating and exercise is the way to go. Unfortunately if you spend your youth eating poorly your body no longer reacts the way it should. Many people become overweight and then have an extremely hard time getting the weight off because they have so many fat cells in their body. In some cases it is much better to do surgery. Even with surgery though, you still need to eat healthy and exorcise. Surgery is just to help you out, not to fix your eating problems.

No. Anorexia has nothing to do with your body size, becoming skinning is the side effect. It's a mental illness. Just because someone is "too skinny" doesn't mean they are anorexic. Maybe they can't afford food? Or they can't eat a lot because it's difficult for them?

...and ever."

and what DO you define as overweight? When I was the average weight for my height my PE teacher called me fat.

anyway, i belive the diet things on tv only (and im not entirely sure) work if your actually exercising and eating the correct foods while your on this so called "diet".

I was finally happy they made this pill thing, and the box says do not start unless your willing to do the right things. the pill is to help boost metabolism and curb appetites i belive

I agree with you Marletta. Health and size dont always go together. Clearly youre a healthy and fit person, so that is what should matter most. Lots of people are thin but not healthy (myself included-I wont be rock climbing anytime soon!), and there are others like yourself who are fit and bigger sized. People were created in all sizes shapes and colors so there would be variety, not so there would be people to point at and make feel bad. I think there is too much emphasis on "weight" being the standard for health, beauty, and all that other crap.

I'm 16 years old, 5'9", and I weigh 166 pounds.

But I eat a bunch of junk food ordinarily, along with fruits as a side dish (I eat an apple at least 5 days a week), and I suppose my metabolism is full of win because it doesn't let me get fat. Last year, I was 179 pounds, and not being one to exercise and just being a prominent Internet-user, I lost 13 pounds out of nowhere. I believe that as long as you maintain either your diet or your body weight by exercise or activity, you should be fine and healthy. Everyone's body is different and reacts differently, so you can't go by some standard pill or exercising method, because it doesn't work for absolutely everyone.

That being said, everyone here already knows that the United States is the most obese country in the world. And if you don't know that already, you've seriously been living under a rock. America would do anything to lose weight...that isn't exercise. There's different ways to maintain your body weight, like watching for your daily 1200 calorie intake, or just exercising and eating several healthy fruits and vegetables. The key is not to change the image of your present self, for one would grow impatient and not realize too many results, but to look better for your future. I've seen many people (women in particular) who age quite well.

And honestly, someone's weight doesn't make their personality. One of my very best friends was very obese, but not so unhealthily. He no longer lives by me, so I have no idea what he looks like at the moment, since he doesn't provide pictures or even keep in much contact with me anymore.

But personality and perkiness says a lot about a person and their positivity. Yes, there are slouches. Yes, there are people who eat like there's no tomorrow. But there are also people who try to lose weight in every way imaginable, and I'm sure they will succeed, but I'm not sure if America will get out of its obese status any time soon.

America is obsessed with the plastic Barbie look. The media isn't looking for healthy. In fact, they probably couldn't care less. They just want a skinny chick whose fat gets transferred to erm, "other body parts."

Honestly, if Barbie was real (the doll, not her daughter) she'd probably be a 5'11" blonde chick with 4" hands, 5" feet, and a 26" waist.

And about weight, food, and such. Well, metabolism and genetics, basically.

I agree. That is what America is all about, people here want to look like the perfect weight, well what is the perfect weight? The person next to me says there isn't one.
