If you haven't already seen:

We have confirmed with Nickelodeon that season three of Avatar will have 21 episodes, rather than the 20 episodes that seasons one and two had.

The "Day of Black Sun" movie event is two separate episodes broadcast together, somewhat analogous to the way "The Secret of the Fire Nation" event was handled in the second season. The two episodes for the "Day of Black Sun" are episode 310, "Day of Black Sun Part 1: The Invasion" and episode 311, "Day of Black Sun Part 2: The Eclipse".
Although the episodes are separate (numbers 310 and 311 respectively), both are part of "Chapter 10" in Book Three: Fire. Up until now, each chapter has been an episode, but with "Day of Black Sun" this is no longer the case.

Also revealed was that the Avatar season three (and show) finale will be comprised of episodes 318, 319, 320 and 321. No other information on episode titles or broadcast dates was available.

------
So 310: The Invasion and 311: The Eclipse, but Chapter 10: Day of Black Sun.
So that 312: The Western Air Temple = Chapter 11.
Oy for numbering. Whatev.

But Four Part Finale. Whoo. That's a 2 hour Finale, just like the big boys in one hour programming.

As of yet, there's been no airdate scheduled for 312: The Western Air Temple. But Rumors place it sometime in Late January or February. According to *rufftoon, the Final Audio mix is still being worked on for some of the episodes. But that's good news, in that the Final Audio Mix is the Last part of the editing process.

That's evil. I won't even see the ending if it starts up again in late Jan or Feb.

Is the series comming to an end then?

Of course it is. Did you expect it to last forever? It's a story, and all stories must have endings.

As far as this story goes, there shouldn't be. The main plot will be resolved at the end of this book.

I heard this... honestly i don't know where, but the story with Aang and the gang will end by the end of book 3 but there will be a book 4 but the story won't revolve around them. It will be more like a spin off kind of like every season of digimon... different people same world. ((except of course the first two seasons which i liked in digimon, but then couldn't care less bout the rest.))

I've heard something like that as well.
But what I heard was the fourth book would take place in the same world but either in the past or future.

My one, soul problem with them ending it with book three, is that they didn't complete the cycle. They've been preaching about "ALL" the elements together, and then they end without air. It's just wrong. WRONG! Damn...Plus there is so much more they could elaborate on. I know they "can" wrap it up now, but why should they when they can train Aang for another year, and make people feel like it's complete. It can't last forever, but it doesn't have to end so soon.

The books are also going through the elements Aang needs to learn. He doesn't need to learn airbending. He's already an airbender.

My point is the complete cycle though. I know that he already knows air bending. If I wanted to argue this, which I do not, I'd say that He never "officially" mastered airbending. He's one step away.

The tattoos are symbols that he is indeed an airbending master.

Well, even though the first 3 seasons end with the old characters, I hope another Avatar spin-off/series airs.

No, the tatoos mean that he was raised by the monks. He hasn't even learned the ultimate airbending technique....
