This is another reason why I think Whoopi Goldberg is awesome, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a dumb cow. The ladies discuss Hillary's baby plan & Whoopi on AbortionThis is a snipped from The View (9/3/07). Basically they start talking about something Hillary Clinton came up with (giving $5,000 to all babies), and how it'd be organized. Elisabeth Hasselbeck decided to pipe in with the notion that $5,000 will probably get people to stop having abortions. Whoopi smacks her upside the head down with some logic. Enjoy. Discuss. Bring cupcakes. *Edit* Text of the ownage. HASSELBECK: I was very- at heart, I'm very against this policy because I believe it’s more of a gift.
BEHAR: Are you against Social Security, too?
HASSELBECK: No. Against this policy, but then I realized that there is a benefit because I feel like this could maybe cause less abortions in the world. You know, people would keep having kids instead.
GOLDBERG: Elisabeth, Elisabeth, can I ask you one question–can I ask you a question? I just have to ask you this question since you opened this door.
HASSELBECK: Sure
GOLDBERG: Have you ever been in a position to have to make that decision?
HASSELBECK: Never, never.
GOLDBERG: Okay, then back off a little bit. Back off a little bit. Very few people want to have abortions.
HASSELBECK: I'm sure they don't.
GOLDBERG: See, I was listening.
HASSELBECK: I was just affirming what you said.
GOLDBERG: Most people do not want to have abortions. Most women do not have them with some sort of party going on. It is the hardest decision that a woman ever- wait- ever has to make. So, when you talk about it, a little bit of reverence to the women out there who have had to make this horrible decision. And one of the reasons that, that we have had to make this decision is because so many women were found bleeding, dead, with hangers in their bodies because they were doing it themselves. The idea of this was to make it safe and clean. That was the reason the law came into effect. That was why it was done.

I'm so glad Whoopi's on the View. I've been looking forward to these moments ever since she started. Elizabeth Hasselbeck makes me want to hurt babies.
Seriously. "Superficial abortions"?

Oki - Chan Blondie makes me angry. Oki smash. Setar smash too. Luckily, I think Elizabeth is on leave from The View right now. Her husband Tim is a quarterback in the NFL, and he signed with Arizona a few weeks ago as the Cardinals have had injury problems at quarterback.

Thank you SO MUCH for adding the text! Dialup makes YouTube almost impossible.

While I currently agree with Whoopi, she has said some pretty stupid stuff in the past.
She was the one who said that dog-fighting was part of black-culture and as such Vick shouldn't be getting such trouble for having fighting dogs.

Yes, it may be stupid, but she does have a point. Different cultures and people treat things like dogfighting and cockfighting differently. For a lot of people, making animals fight each other is a pastime. It doesn't make it any less cruel, but it does make it easier to understand why.

I can't believe that woman had the nerve to say "Superficial abortions" in front of a woman who had to give herself an abortion. Whoopi handled it politely and I'm proud of her because god knows I would have reached across the table and slapped a b***h.
I wish they'd fire Elisabeth. They have four women on there who are accomplished, witty and intelligent woman and elisabeth's known for what? Marrying a footballer?
I wish they'd chunk her and get rosie back on. I loved the show while she was on it.

I believe so too..but the thing that made me mad about what she said about dog fighting was that she referred to my hometown as a really southern place that supports dog fighting..Vick came from around my area in eastern virginia(as far as i know)..and damnit, virginia isn't southern or country. We're in the middle of the friggin east coast..this isn't some place as far south as georgia or alabama or something. We definitely don't have dog fighting rings all over the place..it isn't the big cultural thing here. The mayor got pretty damn miffed about that. gonk

On Goldberg: Hey, she's said something poignant with grace this time, but we ALL have said or thought of something stupid one time or another. Or, politically incorrect.

He's not good - he wasn't drafted and hasn't even thrown a pass in a game in three years! Now, his brother Matt is awesome, but I digress (Seahawks fan ^^ wink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxuJ5LNBPUI#apgopPBDMo8Pro-choicers, I opened a can of worms on this "pro-life" guy named "Champion of Liberty" on the comments of this "the view" clip. I'm "gottagrip" there, and as you can tell I've been making posts so long I have to reply to myself three times each. If you can ignore the one vegan/pro-animal comment I made there, why not make a comment with this guy and set him straight?
