In a article on MSN this morning J.K Rowling said Dumbledore was gay. ArticleIts also on www.mugglenet.com, too. I also didn't expect Neville to marry Hannah Abbot.

That is quite an interesting piece of news.
I kind of caught the undercurrent of it in the 7th book though.
So it really wasn't all that unexpected to me,
and I really had been wondering who Neville had ended up with.

I screamed OMG really loud and my parents looked over to me.. and I said, "Dumbledore is gay". They don't like Harry Potter like I do, but their mouths still dropped. I did not see this one coming. Just think of the new fanfictions..

My dad actually called me over to read it - I was shocked at first.. but then it does make sense. Honestly though - if you reread the passage where Dumbledore is discussing his history with Grindelwald, there are faint clues. Well, for those of us who have been infatuated or in love - can see. By the way that he is speaking, it almost seems rushed and hesitant at the same time.. The way he denied the evil in Grindelwald's heart, how he broke down at the end. He was in love with Grindelwald, in love with the passion and ideas that he brought - all he could think of was that this man shared his opinions and they would be together. Orna's Thoughts "Did I know, in my heart of hearts, what Gellert Grindelwald was? I think I did, but I closed my eyes." - Dumbledore, p. 716 (US Edition)He mentioned that he denied acknowledging what Grindelwald really wanted a few times, which is consistent with someone who sees only the best in the person they love.. "How they fascinated them, how they fascinated both of us!" - Dumbledore, p. 716 (US Edition)Always Grindelwald first - always what he wanted, it just happened to be important to Dumbledore as well. "At last he knew what Dumbledore would have seen when he looked in the Mirror of Erised, and why Dumbledore had been so understanding of the fascination it had exercised over Harry." - Harry's thoughts p. 719 (US Edition)To me, this is vague. Does he see his sister alive again or does he see a life lived with Grindelwald? A better life - one where they were happy together? Those were some of the things that struck me after I got over the initial "Whoa" from the release. I must admit that I am in the group that always harbored a sneaking suspicion of Dumbledore and McGonagall had a sordid love affair. *sigh* I do agree with this story, it was never very clear - the clues that are there are very faint and can be interpreted many ways. If it had been more upfront, it wouldn't be such a surprise. Of course, that means that some of the fanfiction written may have never been created (some would say that's a good thing!).

sooo then Rita Skeeter wasn't making up all of that stuff. Remember the part where she thought that Dumbledore's relationship with Harry was unhealthy? We know that he wasn't doing anything bad with Harry, but I thought that she was making something up lol just for publicity.

I probably saw it comming mostly because I tend to read fan fictions, and it just seemed to make sense to me kinda like I think Draco and Harry seem to go well together to me. So maybe it's just me.

I have gay guy friends, and gay guys are awesome! lol No one said that there was anything wrong with Dumbledore being gay, it's just a surprise because it was never said that he was gay during the book series. HP means a lot to a lot of people - so it' s natural that we act surprised when something about one of our beloved characters is revealed.

I agree there were a few hints in the 7th book (before the 7th book, you really don't have much, but we also knew very little about him in general anyway). Another thing (and I can't quote it since i don't have the book on me) is the letter than Dumbledore had written to Grindelwald. He mentions something about how happy he was to have met him, or something along those lines. I know other people definitely started to suspect that Dumbledore was gay from all of that. (I think there was a thread about it in the main forums)
