We're reading Beowulf in English class currently and I must say it's much more readable than Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet was last year. Anyway, which language was it originally in? Of course, I asked my English teacher and he responded "Old English." Maybe it was, but I doubt him because he then said he wasn't sure.

Also, I don't really think I like the character of Beowulf... He seems kind of invincible. >___>;

Discusssssssssss.

Wow this thread is sort of old for me to be responding to, but anyhow... XP

Beowulf is originally in Old English, yes. smile I haven't read yet myself, but I would love to. From what I understand it's based on the old Scandinavia.

I loved Beowulf, im unsure if you guys will see this, but you should read 'Grendel' which came out in the 1970's and its based on Grendel's perception.

For example, in Beowulf where he busts in the pub and trashes it.
Grendel thinks he came in for a friendly drink and they tried to make him leave by attacking him xd
