The Imperial Capital of Nordesvok

Location

Located near the center of the Vhar'durn landmass (the largest of the four main islands making up the Archipelago), the large city is home to over 5 million people, most of whom make up the middle-class and live in the suburbs of the city. The actual city itself is usually comprised of only 2 million people at a time. The positioning of the city is in favor of trade, which is the central reason for its size. It is located on a sort of island between two large rivers which acts as a causeway between the opposite ends of the island. Around 50 miles to the north, steep mountains cause the relatively flat land to end, and a thick forest surrounds the city to the north and northwest.

The Gardens: Set apart from the rest of the city, the Gardens are where one could find 99.7% of all plant life in the city, though plants aren't the only thing to be found here. Many museums and other historical buildings reside here, as well as the world-renowned State Biological Research Institute. The central building housing the Institute is famous for the amount of glass implemented in the building.

The Central District / The Tower District: This area has been called 'The Tower District' by city-dwellers for a reason, for the city architects had initially placed the SPRING generators in the center of the city. With the coming of more people, the generator grew and grew until it reached the size it is today. Now a massive tower spanning several hundred meters in hight, the tower has government offices implemented into the tower, effectively making it into the Capitol it is today.

The business District: Set in a ring around the Central Tower, the Business District is comprised of huge buildings reaching into the sky. It is here where one would find corporate strongholds and such. The State Trade Center is located here, and is where world stock values are constantly watched.

Suburbs: Surrounding the city are sprawling suburbias, each named by it's approximate region. These account for the massive size of the city, and are the locations of most of the population.

Government

The capital of the Continent, a large metropolitan area governed by the supreme ruling-force of the land, the State. Largely run by various high-ranking politicians as well as religious magistrates, the central system of government is quite corrupted while being run by several military contractors. Having ended a war several years ago, the government is in slight disarray, what with the Commander in Chief missing and all..

Layout and Architecture

The city itself is built around a large spring which provides a source of clean water, warmth, and infinite energy produce, seeing as massive turbine generators beneath the city are turned by the constant pressure of the underground water.

The city space is organized into blocks generally about a half-mile in width and height, with obvious deviations when regarding special plots of land or residential areas. The city is a subtle mixture of classic building styles involving much brick and concrete (much grittier architecture) and a dashing modern take with sweeping concrete stadiums, opera houses, and government buildings. (Think Chicago or New York) Little vegetation is to be seen throughout the city asides from the Central Gardens located half a mile east of the State Government building. The specific area is dedicated to showcase the scientific and natural history of the city, often in the form of large museums.

Many buildings are over four stories tall, and rarely is there to be seen any building smaller, most of the population lives in spacious apartment/condo complexes revolving around a certain district culture. Very little of the Inner city is occupied by anyone earning less than or around minimum wage. An outer ring revolving just west of the outside of the Inner city is reserved for the Slums, a decrepit community of poor people.

Fauna

Much of the life asides from humans is reserved for pigeons, raccoons, and rarely wolves from the mountains just north to the city. A State-run Zoological institute is located near the Gardens, and there is to be found exotic animals from around the world.

Things had been busy in the Capitol for several weeks now, what with the President announcing the revival of the campaign into the Northern island..

The red, white, and black banners of the State were to be seen flying about the city and regular parades were to be seen seemingly at random in several sectors at a time.

Military recruiters were once again at work traveling to the various large cities scattered across the archipelago, championing the several branches of the military, most prominently the SHWD. The State Human Weapon Division.

Humans into weapons? Most definitely. Already claimed by scientists working for the military as the 'perfect blend of rigorous training and biochemical alteration', the SHWD was one of the fastest growing military divisions, set apart from the others with their use of 'Old World' weaponry.

It was a shame the citizenry of the archipelago had never been told the birth of the Project. To them that time was nothing but the war for oil..

Up in the high reaches of the central business district, a phone call was directed to a director of commerce up in one of many government buildings.

"Mister Librado's office, how may I help you?"

"Hello, is Richard around by any chance?"

On the other end the young secretary pouted. The line being called was ridiculously secured. Not very many people knew about phone numbers like this. She sighed and answered after a short pause.

"..May I ask who's calling?"

"Tell Richie that it's his old pal Leo. He'll know who I am."

Another sigh would be heard. What "Leo" had said was what EVERYONE said.

"I'll go get him, please wait a moment sir."

"Good, very good. I have a few business plans the old goat will be dying to hear about."

Ms. Secretary decided not to respond. She could only shiver.
