Lore:
The Seven Deadly Sins
Pride. Pride is the sin from which all others arise. Those who have pride are known to have excessive self-righteousness and belief in one’s own abilities. Pride is linked with the horse, the color violet, and is ruled by the celestial sign of the Sun. Prideful sinners who go to hell are broken on a wheel as punishment for their lifestyle when they were alive.
Envy. Envy basically is one’s desire for something another has such as traits, status, and abilities. People often act envious because they see other people get things the want. Envy is linked with the dog, the color green, and is ruled by the celestial sign of the Moon. And what happens to envious sinners once they die and go to hell? Simply put they are dunked into ice-cold freezing water.
Gluttony. Gluttony describes those who take in more than they require because they were weaned improperly as a child. Gluttony is represented with the pig, the color orange, and the celestial sign of Jupiter. The punishment in hell is being force-fed rats, toads, and snakes!
Lust. Those who lust have a craving for pleasures of the body. Lust is connected to the cow, the color blue, and ruled by the celestial sign of Venus. Lustful sinners are punished in hell by being suffocated with fire and brimstone.
Anger. Wrath. Everyone gives into it at one time or another it’s part of our human nature. Thomas Aquinas once stated that anger is “the name of a passion. A passion of the sensitive appetite is good in so far as it is regulated by reason, whereas it is evil if it set the order of reason aside.” Anger is represented by the bear, the color red and is ruled by the sign of Mars. The punishment in hell for those who give into the animal within are dismembered alive!
Greed. Greed is described as being the desire for material wealth or gain; those who are greedy do it because they love to be pampered. Greed is linked with the frog, the color yellow, and is ruled by the celestial sign of Mercury.
Sloth. What is a sloth? A sloth is someone who avoids physical or spiritual work because they are shiftless and lazy. Thomas Aquinas once stated that sluggishness, “is evil in its effect, if it so oppresses man as to draw him away entirely from good deeds.” The slot is represented with the goat, the color light blue, and is ruled by the celestial sign of Saturn.
Interesting Facts:
-At the start of the episode when Sam is in the car reading the Faustus book, if you pause it to get the still picture you can read a few paragraphs of it. These few paragraphs are word for word straight from Wikipedia.
-The shoes that the woman who was influenced by Envy kills for are green. The color green is often associated with envy (e.g., "green with envy," "the green-eyed monster").
-When the brothers find the family at the Sloth house, the TV set is showing Charlene Tilton on a Dallas episode playing her character Lucy Ewing.

Quotes:
Bobby: Do you have any idea who we're up against? Dean: No, who? Bobby: The Seven Deadly Sins, live and in the flesh. Dean: (laughs.) "Who's in the box?" ... Brad Pitt, Seven, no? (shuts up)
Dean: All I see is the light at the end of the tunnel. Sam: That's hellfire, Dean.
Sam: Who the hell are you? Ruby: I’m the girl that just saved your a**.
Sam: You’re unbelievable. Dean: Very true.
Bobby: Where is your brother? Sam: Polling the electorate. Bobby: What? Sam: Never mind.
Sam: I've been bending over backwards trying to be nice to you, and I don't care anymore. Dean: Well, that didn't last long.
Sam: It's suicide, Dean! Dean: So what? I'm dead already!
Sam: Dean, what're you doing? Dean: Comforting the bereaved. What're you doing? Sam: Workin'. Dead body, possible demon attack, that kinda stuff. Dean: (fake coughing) Sam, I'm sorry. It's just, I don't have much time left. And, uh... (more coughing) ...gotta make every second count.
Bobby: So, we're eating bacon cheeseburgers for breakfast, are we? Dean: Well, sold my soul. Got a year to live. I ain't sweatin' the cholesterol.
Sam: Dean, let me see your knife. Dean: What for? Sam: So I can gouge my eyes out. (Dean laughs) Dean: It was a beautiful, natural act, Sam. Sam: That's a part of you I never wanted to see, Dean.
