Okay, the greatly condensed version. My two friends and I are wiccans. We all come from magickal blood lines, have been witches in many of our past lives (My soul has the rope marks to prove it) and are currently in the process of initiating the one friend and forming a coven. this past year on my birthday (March 10) we were on my porch reading fortunes and what not, when freaky s**t started happening with my one friend (Let's call her Jan). One thing to know about my yard, it's got some funky energies in it, and is frequented by some invisible entity we refer to as "The Ghoul." Well, our current theory is that the combined force of The Ghoul and the immense amount of magickal and psychic energy snapped a binding spell that had been put on Jan by her biological family (Jan was adopted as a baby). Years of pent up energy came pouring out all at once and sent Jan into a catatonic state which opened her up to an attempted possesion. My other friend (Let's call her Melanie) and I quickly went about getting her into a ward protected room and called her back to her body.

Well, now to the present. Somehow one of Jan's past lives has separated herself from the rest of Jan's consiousness and is periodically taking control of her body. All we can really do is wait out these possesions and plan how to deal with it (Jan is as of yet uninitiated and we want to settle this little problem before the ritual). Melanie and I have pieced together most of this other life's story, but now Melanie has gone to college and I'm left to handle this on a day to day basis. One of Jan's less appealing traits is a strak of arrogance, a streak which is amplified in this other personality. Today she came out and started talking about how if she wanted she could kill me (She fails to realize she's up against two pretty tough witches). I am slowly losing patience and want to solve this matter soon. I want to just call her out of Jan's body and seal her away in something, but I'm afraid of what that could do to Jan's Mind, heart and soul. Does anyone have any advice?

this might be a wrong answer, but why not banish her 'past life' and use her soul as the 'foamy egg crate room' to keep her in? in my veiw it would seem that simple but i ave little if any experiance in anything like this so if you try it id recomend getting teh opinion of someone who knows a bit more.

Okay, first off she isn't crazy. We actually have proof. Melanie's family travels alot. She was visiting another state when she and her friends found a very old, abandoned insane assylum. Being not the brigthest little group, they entered the condemed building. Melanie has a photographic memory and she took in every detail. They didn't find anything that they thought at the time was strange so we never heard this story. Until Jan's other side started describing it in perfect detail. As she revealed the story of what happened there, Melanie revealed to me that she had indeed been to this place. They started discussing the assylum at length. (This part was not in the abriged version)

Now, for a bit of an update (Which actually changes pretty much everything). From the begining I was skeptical about this other half being a past life. Past lives simply don't act like that. Jan's "other half" was behaving like a spirit who is time sharing a body. Jan however was convinced that it was a past life. To her credit, she has massive amounts of untapped psychic energy (dormant until the binding spell broke) however, her intuition is not as strong as she likes to think. But I went along with her theory to humor her. Upon a recent conversation with her other half, she revealed to me that she wasn't waiting for a soul to be roborn, but the body. Apparently, Jan and this spirit are identical in appearance (or were... would be if this other half were still alive). She was waiting for someone identical to what she used to look like so that she would be familiar with the body.

Ah, Khalida. You are truly amazing. I'll have to remember that "Evocation of the .45." That could come in handy one of these days.

But to the topic at hand, everyone knows I'm always one to point out the mundane. Regardless of whether you're giving the "abridged" version or not, you're leaving a hell of a lot of holes in your story. For instance, in your second post, you added two points that, I think, are pretty damn important. True, the second part is an "update," but if you were really that skeptical about this "entity" being a past life in the first place, why didn't you speak up about it? Assuming this "Jan" character isn't a member of the guild (in which case, it should be she who asks for help), why did you feel the need to hide your suspicions? In fact, it wasn't until it was mentioned by someone else that it could be some sort of spirit that you jumped in and said, "oh, yeah. It turns out it was a spirit after all. But, you know, I suspected it from the beginning."

And another thing. Is it possible that Jan just...doesn't like you? I mean, assuming you didn't have any knowledge about her background before she told you,don't you think her whole "adopted as a baby/biological parents bound her powers" thing seems a little...odd? To me, at least. What are the circumstances surrounding her adoption? Is she still in contact with her biological family? If not, how does she know they put a binding spell on her? Could Jan possibly be just trying to ******** with you?

I might just be a little too misanthropic, but it seems like somethng's not right. And I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that, given the responses of some other people. So if you'd like help with this, you might want to start from the beginning. No abridged version, nothing left out. Or you could just try Khalida's idea. It seems like it couldn't hurt. Unless she completely flips out, feels threatened, and tries to kill you. There's always that.
