Once upon a time can begin fairy tales, but we need legends.

A legend to truly
be remembered.

One to withstand
the test of time.

One that has yet to be created,
Ney,
Lived.

As you've probably heard many a time before, the line separating light and dark is thin. But not so thin to be easily crossed.

Those in the darkness will never see light, no matter who they are. They are to perpetually suffer, hearts to slowly corrupt. Only to dream of life in the light. A life where no darkness can reach them, no suffering, just, light.

It's true that most worlds are blessed to be touched by both, light and dark, intertwined yet seperated. Creating a balance unmatched by those unfortunate to live in darkness.

But that doesn't mean that it isn't unmatched, there is always the only world to have forever thrived in light. The world that brings light to the others. The only one able to traverse the line...

The world, of fireflies.

As long as I've lived here, I've never seen a sun. I've only felt warmth from the mechanical dome that covers the world I know. The city I know.

My parents have always said that it's always been there. But I can't understand why. Why would someone want to censor the world outside from us. The world I've seen in fairy tales. Green grass, lush forests, blue oceans, maybe even a blue sky; landscapes I can only dream about.

I'm not about to say I don't dream, I do. Just that these dreams are dreams only compared to the nightmarish world I live in. Ruled over by a tyranous man who I've never seen. I only know what he has done to my home.

He has created a artistically dark acropolis. No music is performed, not in public at least...Only in private, to be sold underground for assorted music devices. I've never even touched paint in my life. The only drawings I am familiar with is the blueprints I've seen when someone invented something. The only art I know is in books, literature, without pictures of course...

The man who rules this land of picture-less stories rules behind a desk in the center of the city. A large, blue and black metal tower that stands and leers over all beneath it. I've seen a riot once, the rebellious people attacked the very tower, only to be destroyed by a laser defense grid. Worst of all was when they released the Piutas; large, snarling monsters that fed off the bloody remains.

After that incident, everything in this technological city became even more strict. Work wasn't daily, it was monthly. A day off was an hour with your kids, before returning to the industrialized prison; or as my parents called it, "the office." Schools had always been full year, spend the night there. But now we can't even leave the buildings. You hardly ever see anyone on the streets. Those who are, are usually killed by the roaming machines that patrol. Never shut off. Always waiting. That's why parents decide not to take and visit their kids in person. Only virtually.

Of course, money isn't needed. They work to survive. I miss them. But then, what can I do? I'm only a school child. Laying in bed with my roomate across the room, thinking this up and writing, or rather typing it into a note book program on the digital computer device on my lap. Waiting for a miracle, waiting for someone to free me from this prison of reality. Hopefully before class tomorrow...

I typed this for a small explanation. The reason that there is no spot in the form for race is because everyone is a human. All from the same city.
The reason it is city and not world is because that is the last remaining city on that entire planet, or at least that is what your characters think. The man who rules over it is miniscule compared to what really is going on. But he doesn't allow knowledge from the outside world to flow in. The year isn't known, but they still count the days.
The main gist of this rp is that a higher evil will begin a quest to rule all that exists, in any dimension. He will begin traveling dimensions in order to find weapons to use in his total conquest. And once he finds what he's looking for, he will destroy the dimension. The only thing to stop him is to kill the one who is truly behind all of this.
Your characters get sucked into this when the fireflies begin to shine, you'll understand that later. But when this happens, you travel in the same stream as the dimension jumper.

This is important:
This is so vague for the reason that part of the rp is the discovery of the truths and how your characters will react; so you will have to wait to truly understand the above.

Fusing
When your characters travels upon a firefly spot, they become fused with a being from a different dimension that matches them.
By matching, I mean not physically, attitudinally, nor emotionally. More of spiritually matching. Your charrie will temporarily be fused with that being's appearance and abilities. They will get the full assortment of abilities, but only part of the appearance; being it is a fusion.
When they leave the spot, your character's connection with the other being slowly deteriorates; so after time, your they will revert back to normal. If your character is spiritually strong at the time of firefly exposure, the fusion will last longer, however; if they are spiritually weak, it will last a shorter amount of time.
Even at their top spiritual strength, the fusion will last only a certain amount of time. That time depends on the spot. Below you will find a post in which describes the discovered firefly spots.

A few points
Your characters are at a slight disadvantage compared to real life. Key points are as so:
~ALL animals were killed. So cats and dogs and such aren't common knowledge. They are in books, but not many.
~Art was banned. So no paints or anything. There are drawing programs on computers, but anything done on them MUST be kept secret. Life depends on it.
~Music is banned as well. You may have it, but you will be in some serious trouble if someone finds out.
~Only parent contact is virtual. Once a month too. So you won't be seeing them often.
~There IS meat in food. Well, it not exactly meat but its been so long that they CAN'T tell.
~Not everyone is all gloomy. Take a chance and have a happy charrie.[should go in profile post but meh.]
~Outside is death[Well...]. Robots patrol the streets waiting to kill you. The school is a protected building. So a fear of them isn't needed.
~Suicide is common so the student body is used to it. Way of choice: Out the unlocked, one-way doors.

Profiles

Username: Seicha [creaturelover00]
Name: Rayot Corrintill [Ray-eht Core-ehn-tee-ehl]
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Appearance: To start off, Rayot stands around 5'8" and models an emaciated build. Some of his peers tend to wonder if he has an eating disorder because his bones are so easily defined through the thin layer of skin. In reality though, he eats plenty but has an extremely fast metabolism. The resulting hunger never bothers him; he's adapted.
His straight hair is a pitch black that clashes with his ashen skin. The two-inch bangs naturally spike slightly instead of conforming to his scalp like the rest of the hair. Rayot's eyes are a deep blue-green with a ring of yellow around the pupil and look as if they were 2-D because of the blatant colors. Dry skin. Forehead lines.
As far as after class casual dress goes: he has his uniform. Nothing else. His parents didn't leave him with much after the revolt. The clothes he had ten years ago are a bit..small and he never took a school job to get money for a new attire.
Picture (optional):
Biography: Rayot is content. Some would find him sad because he doesn't smile often, but others would find him happy because he doesn't show a lugubrious emotion much. He walks around with a neutral expression because he feels that emotion is pointless without a causing reason. But that's just him.
His parents weren't the best. As soon as he was able to attend the school, they just, dropped him off. The five-year-old was on his own. He took to the main floor library before becoming learning of the secondary storage library on the 15th level at the top of the building. A couple years after he watched the most recent revolt through the giant glass windows of the secondary library. He just sat there, open book in his lap. Countless people slaughtered. He didn't care, in fact; he smiled. They abandoned him so he abandoned them.
When all the other students were forced to be brought in, Rayot was sad. Seven years of age but he liked to be alone. The others were only a nuisance. Classes were now more regulated instead of before when they didn't really care. Something about needing to keep track of all students. Whatever.
He reads a lot. Instead of being a depressive nerd, he is happy in the depressive dome. When asked a question, he'll give a fair answer. Most of the time he's carrying around a book or two. You never know what he has hidden away.

Username: ~.Forever Enchanted.~
Name: Liliana Devlian
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Appearance: Lily, to some, is quite the sight to behold. Her facial features are softly curving and natural. Not too sharp but not too chubby. She washes her face often and she doesn't wear much makeup, so it's free of too many pimples or blemishes ((though everyone gets them)) and displays her natural beauty. Her eyes are a deep and entrancing forest green. Looking closely though, one can see vein-like lines of a bright, leafy green. She's got long, wavy hair of a deep red, like cherry wood. In this hair are natural highlights of sandy brown and a lighter red. When not up in some kind of style, it falls to her mid back. For the most part, though, she wears it up in a clip with cheek-length bangs falling free. She's got a slender form, and stands at about 5'9" in high heels, and her natural height is about 5'7". She's not a show-off about her beauty, and so is normally found in simply jeans and a tank-top or sweatshirt ((depending on the time of course)). What she doesn't know, though, is that those clothes are really what she looks best in. Because of the way she looks, a lot of people don't like to get to know her, feeling she'll be the snob of the school. She's really the complete opposite though.
Picture (optional):
Biography: Lily is a happy and carefree person...but she was not always that way. Before she moved to the school, Lily was with only her mother and father. She has no sisters or brothers, not even cousins. She was alone in childhood. This didn't effect her much at first since she had an extremely close relationship with her mother, even at the age of five. That's when everything changed. Her mother was murdered by the machines. She was brutally attacked in the middle of the night, when she had gone out in a final and desperate attempt at medicine for her husband, who was deathly ill. The ironic part is, that he pulled through in the end. That day changed Lily's life forever. He decided to send her off to school early, to help her cope with the loss. It's now twelve years later, and she's definitely gotten over her mother's death, though she still misses her, but she'll never get over her hate for the machines...and the man who creates them. She's a kind-hearted, gentle and loving person, but when it comes to them, her rage really shows. She can't wait for the day she gets out of school so she can join the fight against them...if one is ever started.

Username: [[.ice.princess.]]
Name: Rebecca
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Appearance: Rebecca is a very beautiful girl. She has short red-orange hair. It is naturally straight and grazes her shoulders perfectly. It's not all one length. She took a knife to it when she was younger and made layers, so now she does it all the time. To the few friends she has, she is always seen with it in a ponytail. She has a mix of skin tone between pale and a light brown that enhances her natural glow. Her eyes are a dark blue but fade and change to the sunlight. She takes care of her skin and always looks beautiful. She has a slim and slender figure, standing 5'6". She loves to wear high heels but finds it's easier just to go barefoot. When she's not attending school hours, she's often found wearing an old grey sweater that covers her left shoulder but not the right. It gently drags along her mid-arm. She also wears a pair of black shorts. Her idea of comfortable.
Picture (optional):
Biography: Rebecca has seemed to adapt to the hostile life put infront of her. Her personality allows her to adapt quickly which allowed her to create a life for herself. She is shy at first but get to know her and she is a light in a darkened world. She loves to help others and always is there for the people she cares about. Only her mother visits virtually every month. Her father was tired of the lifestyle they lived in and couldn't handle not seeing his only daughter for one more night. So while his wife, her mother, was asleep, he exited the house on his last journey of his life. He was killed only four blocks away from the school that night and Rebecca never heard from him again. She wears a heart locket with her parent's pictures in it to remind her of their faces but even pictures begin to fade. She often tucks it away to keep from getting it taken away by the teachers or anyone else with a wandering eye. She falls asleep every night with the nightmares of how her father died heroically trying to see her one last time.

Username:[Xx..Xxbe_thy_namexX..xX]
Name: Avril Travista
Gender:female
Age: fifteen going on sixteen or as some would say fifteen and a half.
Appearance: Avril has a certain mysterious look about her...colorful and mysterious, yet beautiful in her own unique way. Her eyes are a bright blue that seems as though it would glow in the night. It is icy and vibrant as though they could send a freezing shock through you...or maybe you could get lost in them. Her hair is thin and black. It is really managable, not only because it's short, but because she was born with that hair. It's as though if the wind blew through her thin, well tamed hair with would fall right back into place in the same style. That is partly because she uses no hair products except for brushes and shampoo. Her hair reaches to the middle of her neck in a sort of croped style. Her bangs are longer than the rest of her hair and grows off to the side naturally. The first layer is full of bright and vibraint colors such as bleached white, lavender, yellow, and red. Under the shield of colors her hair is jetblack. it shows near the bottom. Her skin is a light brown, not too dark, not too light, but a little darker than tan. It has no blemishes because she doesn't need any make up and it is all one color. She is very curvacious and slim and stands around 5"4. Though she has a fantastic shape, she doesn't show it off much. She wears baggy pants not only jeans but a lot of different styles. She wears tighter shirts but covers them up partly with a hoody that is pretty big.
Picture (optional):
Biography: Avril was born a happy child...though without her mother. Her father told her that her mother was killed. Her father treated her with great gifts and things, before she moved to the school. When her father and her were to be seperated, he told her the actual reason of her mothers death. He said it was her love of music that killed her. At that time Avril didn't understand, but she did have dreams with a background of violin plaing. Her father understood her dreams completely and took her to see what was playing in her dreams. She'd come to see a string instrument in a case hidden umong a lot of knick-knacks. That was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. She found herself sneaking down there just to see it, longing to play it. One night, while she was down there, she heard some trouble upstairs. She knew it was probably something she didn't want to see. She hid with the violin until the commotion stopped and she hears a loud thud. She went back up to find her father wasn't there, but she knew the trail of blood leading out the front door was a bad. That was the day that they announced the new rule of the school. Because of her past, Avril barel talks and stays distant for the fear of becoming close to some one, to have them die.

[ooc|Well, since no one has written yet, I'll begin!|coo]

The lump in the bed, fromally known as Avril Travista wiggled as the schools alarm system woke her up. After 10 minutes of the loud sound it stopped. Avril sat up and scrached her messy/colorful bed head. She sat up and turned to where her feet were over the side of her bed. She slipped her bare feet into her...well...bearfeet. Slippers that is.

She got out of beds and looked at herself in the mirror. Her hair was super messy and she wore and big, black shirt And bear slippers. You could definately tell she'd just got out of bed. She yawneed and streatched to the point where she was on her tippy toes. She wiped some remaining sleep in her eyes. She looked into the icey eyes known as her own in a mirror. The pain in her own eyes made her freeze. She blinked and sat in a chair in front of her dresser. Her room was small and square. It didn't help that it was messy too.

She combed her hair out until it was straight as a bone...naturally. She blinked and walked into her closet and pulled out her uniform ith the lavender stripe. She slipped the skirt over her hips and zipped it in the back and she threw her shirt over her body. Sher picked up her books and headed to the door. Before she knew it the suicide/escape alarm went off. Avril froze and just listened. She heard footsteps tumble over eachother to get to the room beside her. "Oh, my God!" She heard one of the guardsmen shout before another said something into his walkie talkie.

"We've got another one here." One of the other guards people said. His voice was slow, sad, and sympathetic.

Avril rested her hand on the knob. "Eric," she whispered.

She didn't know Eric personally, but she knew he wanted his freedom. She learned his name through the classes. One day after class she found that he'd dropped a paper before he walked into his room. She picked it up. It wasd folded into a triange so it was apparently very nicely hidden. When she was in her room she'd unfolded the paper and found the most beautifuly drawn freedom land ever. it was a field filled with trees and long grass at sunset.

She took it with her, so he wouldn't be caught with it. She might've saved his life. The next day, no matter the pain she felt to throw out something so beautiful, she ripped the paper to shreds and threw it away. Now he was dead. She was used to suicide here...but it still hurt all the same to know someone couldn't stick it out. She felt her eyes burn with tears. They always did, knowing this, but the tears never fell.

She let out a sigh before looking back in the mirror. She saw her reflection the same as yesterday. It was filled with dread and pain that she could bear to watch. She let out a sigh, remembering the boy yesterday, that tried to jump out of one of the barred windows in one of the classrooms. Of course, he didn't get very far, knowing the bar were there, but it left an impact on Avril, all the same. When she went to her room that day she knew in her heart...that she would soon go crazy as well.

With that memory in mind she clutched her books a bit tighter. She knew she'd have to ignore the scene behind her as soon as she walked out of that door, but she was prepared. She walkedout of the door and went on her way.

K i S s ME where the petals ::FALL:: like snow

Lily bent over gently and grabbed a hold of the knob to the shower. The dorm shower was small, but, it worked. At a simple turn to the left, the water stopped, and Lily stepped out from behind the curtain. She pulled on her white silk robe and squeezed the last of the water from her hair. Turning to the also small mirror, she sighed and wrapped the towel around her hair, squeezing out the final droplets. She then grabbed the brush from the tiny counter only to yank it through the tangled but clean red waves of hair.

"Another day in prison." She sighed and shook her head, hearing the sound of the wake-up bell. She always woke up a half hour before, to have time to dry her hair after the shower. She picked up the dryer, and ten minutes later, it was done. After running the brush through it again she turned and went into the dorm. Flipping through her closet, she removed her robe and dressed in the school uniform. After finally pulling her skirt up so it hung gently on her hips, she turned in the mirror, staring scornfully at the single, sky blue stripe down the side.

She picked up her books from the bed and headed to the door, but stopped about a foot away as the alarms rang in her ear. People running through the halls. Feet clattering on the tile. Loud explosions coming from outside. A scream...silence. She bit her bottom lip as her stomach began to churn. It was all so terrible. All so quick and sudden.

She took a deep breath to settle her sick stomach. She was used to it, there was no doubt...but she still felt pity. She still felt for those who gave their lives to get out of the hell they called school. The only thing that got her through the day was knowing that it was the safest place they could be. Her grandmother had told her stories of a time long ago. Stories of trees, and grass...and animals. She shook her head. She would never speak a word of it except to her children, as was normally done.

Her grandmother was not alive during this time, but she knew it all. Her grandmother's grandmother knew of them, and her grandmother's grandmother. It just kept going, down to the grandmothers who actually lived in that time. They were stories only told at a child's bedside. And very few knew of them. "Do not speak these words to another soul until you are a grandmother. Until you can pass the love we used to have for this world. No one else must know. Do you understand this child?"

Lily had said yes...she understood. But she hadn't. Not at that time. All she could think was 'why keep such a beautiful time to myself?' She wasn't sure...but as she exited her dorm...she knew she never would be.

Rebecca winced slightly in her dream. She was having the same nightmare that re-occured every night. "DAD! DADDY!" she screamed. Her eyes flashed open as she heard the alarm for school. Her chest and forhead were beaded with sweat. She took a deep staggard breath and swung her legs over the side of her bed. She gently ran her fingers through her hair, closing her eyes gently. She was breathing heavy as usual but was kind of use to it by now. She took her hand out from her hair and let it drop into her face. She was in just her bra and shorts. She didn't really like sleeping in anything more than that. She walked across the small room slowly, her barefeet being cooled by the tile. She walked over to her mirror and looked at herself. She knelt down slightly to the sink and splashed her face with cool water, trying anything she could to snap herself out of the constant reminder of what her father went through. She grabbed her usual 80's sweater off the chair next to her and threw it over her torso.

The left shoulder was gently covered but the right was naked. The sweater was dragging gently down her right arm. She took the black ponytail from her wrist and pulled her shoulder length hair up. She widened her beautiful eyes to wake herself up, and heading out the door she grabbed a towl for the showers. She passed Avri's bedroom, and noticed she was upset. Listening to everything going on around her, Rebecca figured that someone couldn't take the pressure anymore. She hung her head low passing her friends room and started again towards the shower. She turned slowly into the room and went into the shower. She got in and out. All she needed was a quick rinse and she was good. She wrapped her towel around her and headed back to the room, her cloths in her right hand.

She got to her room and went to the closet. Letting out a sigh she opened the door and stared into it at her uniform. It was exactly like everyone else's except it had a red strip instead of Avril's lavender strip or Lily's baby blue one. She pulled up her skirt, zipping it genly around her hips, and then lowered the shirt over her chest. Going to the mirror once more, she took a brush to her wet hair and quickly drying it. She put the hair band around her wrist and headed for "school." It was more of her prison now.

[[Soz. AP World is killing me and so is tennis. I really am sorry [guilt and shame]...]]
"Who are they kidding?" He spat, trudging past the infiltrated room.
Obviously someone important had died or they felt like playing with the students. They hadn't sounded the alarm in years, nor would any guards come from...Well...Anywhere?
He stopped moving at the end of the hall.
When did we get a fresh new team of guards?

If you don't know, do you really think I know? A familiar voice chimed in his head.
It's called a rhetorical question for a reason, Kora.

And who's fault is that?! An attempt to be witty? Terrifying.
Wow.

What?
Nothing... He began to ascend the nearby staircase.
No! What?
Nothing. Forget about it. Seventh floor.
Tell me!
"It's nothing!" Rayot said aloud. A guy he passed turned around to look at him, a bewildered look on his face.
Great. Someone else to think I'm crazy...

Well you kinda are.
Not the point!

A sigh and around ten minutes of arguing later, the boy stood on the 15th floor. Entering the secondary library, he found it deserted, as normal. Most people would rather be downstairs. In the lobby. On the ground. With friends. Talking. Laughing. Pretending to be happy.
Bah.
No one wants to be with the schizo. It's not his fault, but they don't accept him. The irony though, is that he's happier than they ever will be. They feign joy, he doesn't experience it, but he doesn't have to act like he loves life either. He found himself to be happy, or rather as close as he could be.
Scars from abandonment and forced alienation generally haunted him, but nothing a good, five hour period of solitude couldn't momentarily relieve him from. A good pile of text, whether it be a class textbook depicting the primitive domestication purposes of extinct creatures or a fantastical adventure through a land of color and happiness entitled The Emo Duckling [minor title alterations of course]; he would read it. No one dared to venture up here. Fear that loneliness might spear a spiraling depression leading to suicide kept them far from bay. Rayot was fine with that. Kora was annoying enough without some idiot to bog him down. Excuse me, allow me to restate that, without an idiot other than Kora to bog him down.
The library covered the entire floor, he had read parts of many books. But when ever he put a book back, he could never find it. He knew hundreds of beginnings, but never a single end. The boy would always run out of time or fall asleep. He did not care. Suspense never excited him, knowing the impeccable doom of not finishing the book.
Following routine, he crossed the entire length of the building to sit in the corner of what would be the right wing. It was the farthest point from the single stairwell and he liked it. The green carpeting ran up to a bluish couch beneath one of the many large, domed windows that decorated the top floor. He could see the central tower a few miles away since this was the tallest building otherwise. Everyone hated the view, it was another reason people stayed away. It reminded them of their parents and that would remind them of a simple leap to the solid earth below.
It just made him smile.

And so she continued down the hall, eyes to the ground and dead silent. She held her books in her arms as she headed to class, hopefully to be earlier than the others. She didn't like being watched as she entered the room late or on time. so she prefurred to be thee early. She sight and wondered half-heartedly why they sounded the alarm for Eric. She didn't really want to know, but it was something to think about.

She blinked extra sleep from her eyes as she stared at the floor. She walked by a bunch of cliqs and groups that lughed dryly and fakely at some stupid joke. She didn't hate people, she just like honsetly more than putting on a show. That's why she was partly friends with Eric. They both were honest about what they wanted to do with thier lives. Eric's gone now, though. She has friends, but not one's she hangs out with all the time. Still, it was nice to know some sane people in this place.

She walked through a halfway to deserted halway where a kid rattled at the bars on the windows. He shook and struggled. He let go and fell to his knees and sobbed. "I'm becomeing one of THEM," He said through choked sobs.

Avril looked at him with sympathy, but she was used to crying and crazieness in this place. Everyone there was close to phsycotic...if not already. She finally reached the hall where her class was right around the corner. A quicker was was through this other hall, but she avoided it like many others. She refused to go through that hall because an air of suicide drives some crazy to the point where they just want to jump.

She clutched her books a little tighter with each passing of that hall. She reached the stairs and made it all the way of the three flights and into her class. She didn't hang outor anything. As a matter of fact she went faster as she got closer to the room. Can you believe that some people just sat outside with thier friends right outside the room? She wasn't that stupid. Suddenly this girl burst out crying. After swooning sadly over the girl she screamed. "I DON'T NEED YOU ALL'S ******** SYMPATHY!!!I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!" She screamed, slamming her fist into a wall.

Avril winced at the sickening crack as she broke her hand. She sobbed and slid to the floor holding her hand, chanting 'I wnna go, I wanna go, I wanna go,' over and over again. Avril caught a glimpse of her hand, it was covered in blood and it seemed limp. The girl continued to sob. "I really, really want to go," She sobbed.

A few girls and guys around her tried to calm her nerves. Avril opened the door of her first class and shut it quick and suddenly the noise was gone as if the room was sound proof. Avril calmed and her shoulders relaxed as she breathed in the cool crisp air of steel and morning. She was there...even before the teacher. She sat in a chair in the front row and breathed in and out. There was madness everywhere, like usual, but this time if affected her differently. She wondered why.
