I understand your situation completely for I sometimes struggle as well but the best thing I've figured out to do so, is to read at least a chapter a day, so then its not too mind boggling. Thats why I've started the daily bible reading here in the guild so those that do struggle can at least try reading one chapter a day.

I like Roses idea! Taking it slowly and pray about what you have read. It really helps make the Bible more unjoyable and easier to understand. I personally also got a Student study Bible and gives you tips on what to read. It has a guild that starts with 2 weeks in the life and times of Jesus. And it gives you sections to read. When I've finished the guild, I will have read the entire book. AND.. reading with my family also makes it so much more moving! We each have different types of Bibles. My sons is filled with questions and answers and he really loves to ask us questions after we have read a chapter. You could also discuss HERE what you have read. Who doesn't like to share a good book with someone else that has read it? biggrin

I would reccommend picking a short book and reading through it - Ephesians is a good one to start with. Then pick a new book. It's a lot less daunting than trying to read the whole thing from start to finish, and it gives more direction than the "open and point" method of attack.
And pick a certain time to read. I read while I eat breakfast every morning, mostly because I always read something at breakfast, even if it's the cereal box. And because I know I won't "get a chance" to read unless I multitask or at least set aside specific time.
