Judo was the first martial art I ever did. I was like 8 or something. And it was an awesome art for a kid, I wouldn't bother as an adult tho

Throws have their uses ^^

Anyone who takes Judo do you compete and whats your favorite throw and why?

I like Uchimata because its fast and its the only throw i ever actually get in randori. I also like katagaruma cause its the only way to instantly end the match.

... What? Dude, are you shitting me? Any throw that lands clean ends the match. My soto-Makikomi is the shiznit, but then again, I can just use my wrestling base to kill nigs.

Wrong. If you get them up in the air and you can't land clean, match isn't over. Similar to if you get the Ura Nage and have them clean in the air, they still have a possibility of not landing right and you have to scramble for the pin.

But hey, you're probably doing some shitty Kodokan judo, so who gives a ********.

Uranage you can't hold at full standing. Katagaruma if you get to full standing with them on your shoulders they call it an ippon. I'm not talking about kneeling version although it is extreamly effective as a throw. Its like Dakiage if you complete the throw you will be penalized and or forfiet the match.

That's why in the olympics I can't recall one ******** time it's been stopped before the throw was completed?

Kosen > Kodokan. That is pretty much fact.

I've seen Kosen Judo I am not impressed, but this isn't a pissing contest. This is another failed attempt at trying to start a useful and or fun thread.

Hmph, didn't know a single one of the techniques mentioned above. I would rather learn Traditional Jiu Jutsu. My Sabunim, before he learned Tae Kwon Do, he learned Jiu Jutsu. From what I understand of Judo there's no striking or little of it, and you start close in already. I don't think it's good to just take the throws and grappling techniques without strikes, but that's my fighting style. At any rate, Tamanagi is awesome!(that's probably not even the right spelling).

You realize the entire reason there's no longer ground work in Judo on the olympic level, or even in any kodokan, is because Kosen Judoka's ******** dominated the tournaments? Then they changed the rules specifically to make it harder for the Kosen Judoka's to win? That 15-30 second groundwork rule didn't exist when Judo first started.

Also http://youtube.com/watch?v=klOINKzcav4 at 54 seconds there's a clean kata guruma, full lift standing, it's not stopped, they let it go through. Now eat a d**k and stop pretending you're the end all be all of Judo. Especially when you don't know the history of it, much less basic ******** rules.

I'v seen your video again im not impressed. Watch the ref can you tell me his arm wasnt up when he had the guy on his shoulder and in full standing? I couldnt say if it was up or down myeslf. Also the guy never locked it out he had no balance to stop the throw. All judo isn't olympic judo either, and the kata garuma was full standing yes but he never locked it or maintined control. As far as Katagaruma goes thats not even technically katagaruma http://judoinfo.com/kataguru.htm . Thats a Katakaruma makikomi if anything because he is tightly wrapped in and continues with the throw attached.

I've randori with kosen judo practitioners I wasnt impressed. You don't impress me with your knowledge at all. Your a condesending dicksplash and this is the last time i will ever respond to a thing you say. You say nothing constructive ever.

I am also not saying to anyone else that actually matters that kosen isnt good, it is, but one form of judo isnt better than its teachers and practitioners.
