Discuss, discuss my friends 3nodding 1.) I tend to just try to keep them out of the rain. Mostly, when my friends and I hang out it's away from my house, so, I don't have to worry about other people damaging them. 2.) Keep your windows closed! -.o I have a couple of watered-up books now 'cause I didn't... gonk 3.) Keep people away from them. 4.) Mostly where I can find space D:

I have so many they're in boxes in my basement. I've learned to use plastic boxes that are watertight, since my basement flooded once and a whole box of childhood books went moldy. gonk

I really should purchase a new copy of Sleepers. I read it so much and handled it roughly so much that it is pretty tattered by this point. Oh well.
A lot of my childhood books, and other reads that need to be kept for various reasons, are stored in plastic containers that find themselves in the attic.

I like to take care of my books too, but I wouldnt know were to find stuff needed to help. The problem with me is when I see someone touching my books, I would freek out fast and hard, I even slaped a friend of mines hand when she picked up my book.

All I can suggest for book care is waterproof containers for those that are not on display on your shelves, keep them out of direct sunlight, and try to keep them in a coolish place (some types of paper used for pages "cook" in heat and yellow even faster than they would over time). Also, be careful how you stack books in long-term storage. Paperback (and even hardcovers) can get seriously warped if they're stored at an angle.

I usually just keep them away from any source of water, and always make sure they're put down properly so the covers don't get all bent and curled...

Despite the fact that I am reletively protective of my books, they still get damaged, usually because I get told by whomever I'm with to leave my book in the car while we eat (waits take forever), go to the movies, et cetera. Well if it's the same book enough times (I reread books a lot), eventually the books are going to get bleahed by the sun and the heat will warp the pages. Sometimes damage happens while the book is just sitting in my purse while I walk to work, or am at work.
