First off let me say that anyone reading this has my thanks. These are tough times and any ears and eyes I can have lent to me are a chance to make things a little lighter.
The Post Your Picture Thread in General Discussion was my home. It was really the only thread I frequented. I tried to find other places to spend my Gaia time and failed. PYP was the only place I ever felt good being in. The people were a good range of nice and mean. No one was so disrespectful as you bash someone to pulp. All the arguments were really quite civil compared to some I've seen. All in all it was a good place.
When Z.I.A. took over I got peeved. I didn't really like what was being done with the place but it was okay. I could live with it. After talk of a PYP Guild was shot down order restored and the thread became what it once had been.
Then we finally got cast out. The Gaia powers deemed our thread unfit to be by in GD. We were banished the the Chatterbox forced to be invaded by every noob twit who felt like spamming. Porn pics were posted. Idiots ran amuck. The PYP thread saw it's darkest time.
Then Ace revisited the idea of the guild and saw that a private guild wouldn't be as good as a thread in GD but it was far better than being lost in the noise of the Chatterbox. He created this guild and brought together the PYPers he could find. Uniting them under this tent.
Ace has decided to look out for himself. To me he seemed tired of the drama and the stress. Being in charge of a guild and responsible for all it's members is a mighty weight and it pushed him to close to the ground. In an act of desperation, much to the fear of the few members unlucky enough to witness it while it was happening, he attempted to auction the PYP Guild off to the highest bidder in a General Population thread without even giving us insiders a chance to claim first bid.
I stepped forward and offered him 40k for the thread. Double what he paid. He noted my offer but did not accept it. Possibly holding out for more but who knows. I then offered him a November 2003 letter. He accepted and handed control over to me. It was more than I wanted to spend but I'll be damned if I was gonna roll over and wait for some stranger to come in take over and make this a public guild at the mercy of anyone who happened to stumble across it.
Firebean has left. Ace has dropped off the radar since the sale and Joe Heroine is taking a hiatus. I fear more will follow them.
I will stand however. I don't care if I have to rebuild this place myself member by member. I will keep the PYP alive and I know some of you out there would do the same in my place.
We need to come together now. We must make use of the community we have become. Offer your suggestions to make this a better place to be. Invite your friends to join and bring them here. Talk instead of lurk.
We have a lot of great threads here just waiting to be appreciated and filled with your thoughts, photos, and digial laughter. If you felt that PYP has ever been home to you then help make this place your home now. This is not my guild. It is our palace. This is where we are at our best. We should make it show that.
The time to come together and bring back the legend of the PYP is now. We once were the greatest thread of the GD. We have the chance to be even greater than that now. We can make this place anything we want it to be. We can't do it if you leave. We can't do it if you keep your ideas to yourself. We must come together and build this as one. It's our time now. Our house. Our rules.
