i'd protect the person as much as i could... not much else you can do. i would fight for the ones that i love, i would die for them but not in the martyr role no... if someone offered my life for my loved ones thats a no go and a stupid agreement because you have no way to make sure the person is safe afterwards. i'd rather kill the person, you do not hurt the ones that i love and get away with it.

Depends, as with most things, on the strength of the emotion.
Love is the ultimate emotion, and the only one that naturally trancsends the self. If something is loved completely, you would die for it.
Though, it's a bit more complex than that when humans are involved.
