Or am I doing something bad to my soul?
Okay, I'm sensative to spirits to the point where it's pretty accurate that there is one in the spot I point out. But anyway, I have different memories during my life that are from both my viewpoint and one that is over my shoulder.
The earliest memory I have of this is when I was 3 and I was telling my dad that I wanted balloons in a certain corner of my basement. The most recent memory is this past Tuesday when I went to see Cats for my birthday present. Not even an hour after the show, I was able to remember the show from my viewpoint and a viewpoint directly behind me.
What am I doing? Is this a gift or am I ripping my soul apart?

The only explanation I have for this is that you were somehow in two places at once. I don't think that necessarily involves ripping your soul apart, but I don't even know what to call this. (Sorry)

Maybe something is happening to you where your gaining more spiritual abilities or maybe the spirit following you is showing his/her view...
Soul splitting is complicated, but i don't think that is happening... It sounds as tho your powers are hieghting.

Xuchil Maybe something is happening to you where your gaining more spiritual abilities or maybe the spirit following you is showing his/her view... Soul splitting is complicated, but i don't think that is happening... It sounds as tho your powers are hieghting. Yeah, but what do you call it? I do think it's possible to be in two places at once... but it escapes me why one would do this so close to one's body. It kind of ... seems pointless.

I can't make it go any further....at least I don't think so (but that's a whole different topic) given that i think one of the spirits following me is my great-grandmother, the first memory would make some sense

I hope that's the word you're looking for... Yeah, it's either being in two places at once (bi-location) or a strong empathy bordering on mind readng, I doubt you're actually splitting your soul. You'd know if that was happening, I'd expect that it's incerdibly painful.

I was asleep at night and I was watching myself sleep thinking how lucky i was, it was very strange. I'm not sure how I get there or if I even did that myself, I just remember l was watching myself sleep and seeing myself watch too. Theres another experience I have had, a couple of them. When I have been 'dreaming', I've been in other ppls [people i don't know mind you] bodies watching them do things from their point of view. yeah its creepy, but I wasn't there by my own will and not to do harm... They could hear me too.. IDk what u call it, "out of body experience"? I would take a guess and say that splitting has to do w/ tramautic experiences and a bad childhood. Thats kinda what happens to some people who devolap multiple personalities because they cannot handle all the bad stuff thats happened to them. So then the only other explanation would be something I would call "viewing" or seeing someone else's memories/thoughts etc through their eyes. Like I did while "dreaming", but mine was in real time not in the form of "memories". That could be whats happening and given my experiences its probaly a spirit's doing.

In my experience, leaving your body while asleep is the 'out of body experience' thing and while awake it's bilocality.
I do the awake bit alot, mostly because of my ADD- I just *can't* stay where I am so I wander around fairly close to my own body. I see myself, my mind and everyone around me like they were in a movie I was watching. For me, I'm too small yet to be wandering around higher planes all by meself- even if I wanted to go farther my guardian wouldn't let me sweatdrop
Maybe that's why you happened to be right behind yourself. Or, it could be the beginning of second sight- I objectify my own experiences when I try to See. Maybe you unconsciously did that?
For sure your soul isn't split though- Souls are complicated things. You can't just rip them into bits without feeling the consequences... Actually, a decently accurate explination is in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince- when Dumbledore is explaining Horcruxes to Harry. Something to the effect of the more pieces your soul is in, the weaker you become as a spiritual person. Your soul likes its other bits, it doesn't want to be in pieces and if you make it be in pieces it hurts- alot. People can be segmented in their own minds- aspects and that- but those work like spokes on a wheel, all connected to the same center (your soul). Or that's what I believe at any rate, feel free to call me crazy ^.^

You're not crazy.
I think everyone has had that experience at least once in their life, but i'm not sure what to call it, like most of the people who've responded. Unless you could call it a secondary perspective of self, or a form of clairvoyance. I've had the same experience before, when I was about seven and had fallen out of bed, somehow I saw it from the ceiling, but that was almost definately an OBE... sweatdrop But sometimes I can manage to look behind myself or above myself or whatever to see things that I want to see. ^^; Wow I'm not being helpful at all.
But anyway, I would say it's definately a gift if it helps you at all, and even if it doesn't, it can always be a source of amazement and wonder for yourself ^_^.

well.... the closest thing I think of soul splitting is where some people reincarnate in multiple bodies.... (if you don't believe in that stuff, pretend you've gone temporarily deaf - er, blind)
but an out of body experience is what that sounds like...
this may just be conjecture, but when we're little, it's my belief we are still more connected with our souls as opposed to our incarnations, and thus we can see things both as forms outside of our physical bodies, and inside our physical bodies.
it's silly, but it's a theory.

But anyway, I would say it's definately a gift if it helps you at all, and even if it doesn't, it can always be a source of amazement and wonder for yourself ^_^. It does amuse me when I look back on it. I'm one of those people who will ask why until I get a straight answer. That makes some sense in my case. I had a mental block of my own doing on my emotions for quite a few years so I think I stayed sensative and more connected to my emotions. Thanks.

well i hink the offical metaphysical term for this is astral projection which i love to do but can no longer do since last time i did i ran into a demon and my soul ha been scared ever since. so I guess i'lljust say don' travel without a guide.

I would agree with the bi-location theory...though i don't think that having a dramatic childhood has anything to do with it 3nodding This sort of "third-person viewing" happens to me all the time. I will be in class, start daydreaming, and then I feel my vision blurring. When it sharpens back into focus, I am looking at the back of my head. I once was able to "move the camera" so I could look at my face ( not a pleasant experience blaugh ) So I believe that this is just a "normal" ability and has nothing to do with ripping your soul apart!
