Ok, so I'm trying to loose weight really fast, and I'm exercising sometimes. But I just wanted to know how many calories I can take in without it being unhealthy. My mother told me that if I'm trying to loose weight, I should eat 1200 calories a day, but I've heard different from other people... (I'm 13. And weigh 145. :Sweat smile

Don't set your heart on loosing weight fast.

Anyway, 1,200 is a good number. Anything technically below 900-1,000 is starving yourself. You have to realize that once you go below a certain amount of calories, your body goes into starvation mode and instead of losing weight fast, you'll actually retain every ounce of fat and carbs you eat, your metabolism will slow, and you will end up gaining.

Also, ditch the "exercising sometimes," thing. 5-6 days a week for 30-60 minutes is ideal. x3

XD well, every other day I ride on my exercise bike until I reach 300 calories...and every monday and Wednesday I have soccer practice for 2 hours. And we run a lot... so yeah. x]

That's actually quite do-able, if you go about it the right way. x3

Your body usually looses the initial 10-20lbs fairly easily, but there are plateaus galore afterwards! Sadly. :[

Cutting calories is a good way to go about it, but I'm going to stick by what your mom said. 1,200 calories a day. 3nodding

Not so fast. 1200 calories per day is what an ADULT of AVERAGE HEIGHT should eat. No online person can tell you how much you should eat. A teenager of average height (which you may or may not be), who is still growing and hasn't yet reached their adult height (which you may or may not have done), and is starting or continuing puberty (which you may or may not have done)... needs about 1900 calories per day. More or less, depending on your metabolism. Talk to your doctor!
